  1. For a home painter who wants a proven lure it's a good piece of mind. At that rate you may just want to repaint a lure you have that might have peel or not a color you want.
  2. A lot of companies are now selling an unpainted version of there baits. TW has several including strike king. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Strike_King_KVD_HC_Square_Bill_Silent_Crankbait/descpage-SKKVDHC.html. color nude
  3. One builder I have talked to many times considered 3 blanks top tier. NFC, ST CROIX SC5 AND PHOENIX K2. This is what he considered the no compromise blanks for the best result. There are some newer blanks since we talked like point blank but the list for best remains small. Depending on your volume you may get discounts on brands that may make one of the top blanks a lot cheaper than the others. The top tier does not have to be supper expensive if you find a good special or closeout.
  4. Check out piz customs add in a few trash fish and call it a day
  5. I don't seem to have any weight issues with the st-41 bUT if you are also going to upsize it may become an issue. Each lure may be diffrent in how they react to hook changes.
  6. No buy a daiwa there better. Wait said it last
  7. I had one of these before my wife totaled it and it was great including towing. If i recall correctly it had a towing capacity of 3500 and tons of power. Fits in your price range of 20k. Easy in and out for family and when empty i could get over 30 a gallon. https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=464171165&zip=38134&referrer=%2Fcars-for-sale%2Fsearchresults.xhtml%3Fzip%3D38134%26startYear%3D1981%26maxMileage%3D60000%26sortBy%3DderivedpriceASC%26incremental%3Dall%26firstRecord%3D0%26endYear%3D2015%26modelCodeList%3DSIENNA%26makeCodeList%3DTOYOTA%26searchRadius%3D0%26driveGroup%3DAWD4WD&startYear=1981&numRecords=25&firstRecord=0&endYear=2015&modelCodeList=SIENNA&makeCodeList=TOYOTA&searchRadius=0&makeCode1=TOYOTA&modelCode1=SIENNA
  8. With top waters i dont set the hook. I reel down or feel the weight of the fish and just lean into them, By that i mean once i have contact i turn 90 degrees and let the rod load up to max and just start cranking like mad...
  9. Everyone has there favorite hook and i am a huge fan of the st-41. I run them on my topwaters and it seems to get the job done for me. They are strong sharp and just keep them pinned. They have a slight inward bend which some people claim prevent good hookups but i dont ever seem to miss. Most of my top water fishing is poppers so they eat the entire bait most of the time. If your talking a big fish then i would imagine they take the entire bait in there mouth. I run 14 Berkeley xl for top waters and most of the time a fast action rod. I add the line and rod as they work as a team and your complete setup has to work for you. Is your rod loading up to keep them pinned?
  10. M is medium power. Ml is medium light power. How powerful a rod is kids like talking horsepower. Xf is extra fast speed. This is how fast the blank loads to the backbone. This is like torque. How fast do you want to get there. Moderate or regular is a speed or taper where the entire blank flexes. These blanks are good for crankbaits and things with treble hooks. This is your slow but we don't call it that.
  11. 6.3 is the daiwa speed you are looking for all around. If your frogging jerkbating or jig fishing where the rod moves the bait speed is not a bait factor and the fast reels give your more time for more presentations.
  12. I also run the owner beast hook but if you have the keeper ripping out i have all three sizes of the twist lock which can be bought separate and i match them to the bait size. I use the largest i can get away with and it keeps the bait lasting a lot longer. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Owner_CPS_Centering_Pin_Spring/descpage-OCPSS.html
  13. I use the power of the internet to speed things up when i move or rent. Zillow is an amazing tool and a ton of people use it. Dont settle because you could be stuck for a long time before you can change....
  14. The standard size bass reel is a 2500. I dont buy that size most of the time for several reason. 1. I can find great deals on high end reels on the smaller sizes. 2. if your going for a light action rod the larger reel ways a ton. I would look around in the used market. I just picked up an original fuego 2000 for 115 dollars shipped. Pair that with the elite tech bass 610mlxf and some 6lb yhb and the combo would be almost impossible to beat for twice that amount. The daiwa advantage, sol, fuego were all high quality reels that are not matched in the current lineup. One that is missed a lot is the daiwa tierra. It was a great spinner and can be found at a deal... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fishing-Spinning-Reel-TEAM-DAIWA-TIERRA-2000-/272870157990?hash=item3f88542ea6:g:U-EAAOSwYS9ZZAuP Dont know how low this guy would go but might be worth a try. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-FENWICK-HMG-7-ML-MEDIUM-LIGHT-FAST-HMG70ML-FS-Spinning-Fishing-Rod-/131566235609?hash=item1ea1f56fd9:g:K3cAAOSwuZlZvqlQ This would also make a good rod for a total below 200 toss in some line http://www.ebay.com/itm/YO-ZURI-Hybrid-Fluorocarbon-Nylon-Hybrid-Camo-Green-6-lb-275-yds-Fishing-Line-/162606582056?epid=1124628508&hash=item25dc1b8928:g:MLwAAOSwxf1ZeVZi I like to hunt for deals and this was a quick search to meet your requirements all quality products that i do or would use. The used market will save you a pile of money if you dont mind that. The internet will also give you much higher value than the local store. I shop tacklewarehouse a ton so give them a peak...
  15. They make some megabass spools that are very good. The sv103 frame is heavy for bfs and the alphas are just better imo for this. The pixy is selling very cheap around the net and may be as cheap as any other option.
  16. I like the single hook on prop baits a lot less to tangle the blades up on.
  17. There are two major costs that hit you every time. Gas and entry fees. If it's for fun then a ten dollar buy in is fun. Fifty dollars a person gets expensive fast. A gear weight limit is hard to enforce but a three rod limit takes seconds to check. Six rods on a boat if shared can cover every technique and brother and father son teams are dialed in.
  18. I enjoy the comfort aND relaxed format here. In social media you get a lot of teenage hormones and those are what they are. Your opions are what they are and I'm ok with that. Telling others there doing it wrong opens you up for response good or bad. I don't expect people to be civil these days so I go in knowing what to expect. "Mom always said treat others like you want to be treated." "Dad always said that there is always some one bigger and meaner or a better fighter so be careful who you start crap with." So is life
  19. Well if you are always dealing with weeds then a pitching punching rod may be in order. The dobyns 795dx or mb perfect pitch or daiwa steez xbd would give you for 7'9 all the way to 7'2 in rods that can pitch pinch and swimbait.
  20. For your first build a mhx kit might be the way to go!!#

It breaks down the plastic and melts it back together. If your pulling while applying it will come appart in your hands. I pull worms in half when using mend-it because I get a way better glue joint. Full strength when it dries.
  22. For a price rods can be re wrapped. It's not free but it can be done. I follow it's not a free pass to change ones mind.
  23. Everything human made can have a mistake in it. The best part of a good custom builder is they will go the extra mile to make things right. They can even fix a few things you have a change of heart on. Hate those orange wraps no problem!!!
  24. I run 6lb yhb on my 2500 daiwa. It's very strong and very manageable at that size. I also like xl if I need it to float.
