  1. I throw cavitrons with no skirt and a zcraw or pit boss Trailer. I find it helps them stay up and swim straight.
  2. Slightly out of your price range but the bps carbon lite ml rod is great.
  3. I keep my hand high on the reel, 2 or 3 fingers in front of the trigger depending on the technique. Casting lefty with a right hand reel works well. When I do cast with my right hand or use left hand reels and casting left I have to lower my grip to one finger in front of the trigger and even then I sometimes hit the handle and engage the pinion.. not good! I feel it also gives me better control and steadies the reel in my hand for more consistent thumb pressure. I would encourage everyone to try casting and holding the rod with your dominant hand. It seems to be more pro’s than con’s .
  4. I don’t remember the exact model but this one is close. https://www.amazon.com/TruSonik-Ultrasonic-Industrial-Stainless-Jewellery/dp/B01HC4WBQW i found that it cleans the frame and other parts well but isn’t worth the hassle for bearings. I usually either just give them a drop of oil or replace them. If I have one that is really packed with grease I will sometimes spray them with carb or brake cleaner and oil. I actually don’t even use it for reel cleaning at all anymore. Seems to be too time consuming for a few reels here and there. Take it out, fill with water, heat water, fill small jar with acetone, clean bearings, check for smoothness, clean again, etc. Spraying with cleaner, spray with air, check for smoothness is so much easier for me. If I were in the reel service business I’m sure it would be worth it but not for me.
  5. I’m a lefty, I cast left and reel right. Most right handers do it all wrong.
  6. As much as I dislike seaguar red label from a manageability standpoint I do think it is the most sensitive line I’ve used. And yes......more sensitive than the highly overrated Tatsu. I am a fan of sun line sniper but have not tried shooter yet. Sniper is really manageable but I bet shooter has better sensitivity.
  7. Will it work? Yes Will the action change and make the rod possibly unusable? Likely No harm gluing it on with the a removable glue and trying it. If it doesn’t work out you can have the broken part spliced back on as DVT suggested.
  8. The Daiwa fishes more like a medhvy and would work well. In the falcon line the 5-17 would be great. I have a few in the old bucoo and cara lineup. i would not personally want anything over 7’ for walking baits.
  9. I have this rod and it does an outstanding job with 1/2 oz / 10ft and deeper crankbaits . That said I do not like that type of reel seat and took it out of the rotation . Lew's Custom Speed Stick Crank Rod 7'6" Medium Magnum
  10. For the guys that use flouro for moving baits. What do you like about it vs mono? i tend to use mono for moving baits because some of those rods get used for topwater too.
  11. What did you like/dislike about them? Maybe knowing that you can get suggestions that move you it a better direction.
  12. The rod, lure, line and reel need to match up for proper casting. Remove any one from the equation and accuracy will suffer.
  13. Were you using a new piece of line for each test? Like finnz started about I think flouro weakens once it has been overloaded. I personally can’t tie a proper Paloma’s knot because it seems I get the line twisted over itself somehow. Looks simple but I literally cannot tie it properly so I use another knot. Uni maybe? Try another knot and see what your results are.
  14. Not familiar with those rods but I’d choose a 7’ over a 7’4” for the techniques you listed. I only use longer than 7’ when I need the added casting distance for Cranking, Carolina Rig, Football jigs, etc.
  15. All around best for me is sunline sniper and yes I prefer it over tatsu .
  16. I agree with the casting distance concerns. They cast a long ways with minimal effort but for me I don’t think they are great for bombing heavy lures. Still good but not great.
  17. I only have the 130 size and use a heavy power rod.
  18. I had the Christie 7’3” rod and it was the best action for a frog rod That I have ever had. It would cast a mile and I literally could not miss a hook set. It was perfect until I got a boat and needed something for tip down presentation (walking, etc) and I just can’t work a frog tip down to my liking with anything over 7’. Tip up in a pond it was perfect. I would expect the 6’11” rod to be a really great rod as well.
  19. If it is breaking below your weight then it isn’t your guides. Abrasion? Bad knot? What “rig” are you using? Tell us how you are rigging and we can offer better advice.
  20. Call it what you want but I can feel the difference using the same rod, same lure and two identical reels with 2 different lines of the same diameter. Maybe it’s you sir who can’t feel the difference through your hands or choice of rods. Maybe you can’t tell the difference between a rubber band and a steel cable but I certainly can. You are welcome to your opinion but please don’t belittle mine.
  21. I’m surprised with the sunline natural and big game recommendations. I think they are literally a rubber band. Sunline natural handles perfectly but stretches so bad that I struggle to feel the vibrations of a crank bait, chatterbait or spinnerbait on the other end. Sunline defier armilo gets my vote but if you want to save a few bucks stren is hard to beat and available everywhere.
