  1. Smaller crankbaits and topwater.
  2. I did the choker for years on spin casters and spinning reels but when I started bait casting ( because you would need to pull the spool) I went to the cheesy arbor knot and have never had issues or slippage. That said it’s no way I would trust an arbor knot if the reel got spooled but that’s not an issue for me in fresh water. All that said I wouldn’t dare tie braid to a non-braid ready spool or for that matter any spool.
  3. I had 2 ALX Rods and felt the same way. I find there are better rods for the money out there to suit my needs.
  4. I can’t imagine 12lb yz hybrid line being an issue and I have never really found braid to cast any better/further than mono/flouro/copoly of similar diameter.
  5. What line and weight are you using? I use 20lb sun line mono and a 6’9” hvy rod. My distance seems plenty far enough but if I need more I would switch to a longer rod.
  6. Are you holding your finger under the line in front of the reel? I don’t know any other reason that it wouldn’t drop in but hopefully someone else can chime in with a suggestion.
  7. If you are using a cavitron be prepared to be told you’re doing something wrong.
  8. Can’t honestly say that a fuego ct and tatula ct are direct comparisons as far as spool design or other internals but I feel I get more distance with less effort with the T-Wing. I’ve never actually measured it, just my gut feeling. Probably similar to upgrading spool bearings.
  9. “Aerodynamics of a potato chip”. That has to be the quote of the month winner! ?
  10. When does the knot fail? During the cast ? Setting the hook? What type of reel are you using?
  11. I’ve been very satisfied using my Falcon Amistad with up to 11/16oz biffle heads.
  12. You will no doubt be pleased with that setup. Never mind all that crazy talk about spinning reels. ?
  13. Bream/Bluegill = Pecker Heads. Nuff said.
  14. If you are comfortable with a longer rod consider something 7’+. I personally like 6’10”-7’ but I’ve found I can cast weightless trick worms better on longer rods. If the shore is clear of obstructions go longer, trees and overhanging limbs go shorter.
  15. Alex is a stand up guy and has impeccable customer service but unfortunately I found their rods to be heavy and lacking sensitivity in my hands. They are very nicely built and some guys swear by them and you may find that they work great for you.
  16. We’re you able to get the reel fixed?
  17. This. it could be some oil has gotten on the drag or if it is grinding it’s probably an issue with the pinion gear and spool pin.
  18. I would buy something with a handle that I like. I prefer the fugi ecs style.
  19. I’m not a fan of this trend. I prefer a bare lock nut for comfort due to the way I palm a reel. The flip side is that I can definitely see how some people would like it and the value of rod makers offering it. I honestly get turned off by the foregrip and think it makes the rod look cheap.
  20. I’ve had both (deputy and promise?)and I was not impressed by either. They just weren’t sensitive to me. I have been pleased with my Falcons or for a little less $ I like Hammer rods.
  21. Looks like a loose terminal connection caused the terminal to heat up and melt the spot on the battery. I doubt the battery caused the issue. I’d inspect the battery closely and test it. If it’s ok I’d use it. My concern would be the wiring or a trolling motor pulling too many amps.
  22. I find Falcon Cara’s to be light weight and sensitive for the money.
  23. I agree. Not “bad” rods but not worth retail. I don’t really get the hype that they are balanced either.
  24. I have one Dobyns champion extreme that I bought used for about 1/2 price and I don’t think I would buy another. The sensitivity just isn’t there for me. I know it’s limited exposure but based on this rod I’d rather spend my money elsewhere next time.
