  1. You are absolutely on point. I do enjoy it from an educational standpoint although I feel the drama is somewhat reality tv driven. I feel like they target small bass just to add weight, which is the point of MLF, but I just don't enjoy it. That said the fake , staged shows are indeed worse.
  2. I don't care for the fact that I can feel the reel foot flexing on "plastic" reels. I don't know that one would ever break though.
  3. MLF=many little fish. The basic idea is good but I just can't get into seeing dink after dink and the fisherman hollering "nice one" every time.

Can anyone comment on the pros/cons of tying direct vs a snap/split ring?
  5. That's going to be quite awkward....
  6. Pull the side plate and make sure the brake inductor isn't stuck in the outward position.
  7. I put a spreadsheet together on my phone and it helps me keep up with keeping up with cleaning, line type and which rod it's on.
  8. I would guess that they left it off to keep the weight down.
  9. i just assumed they were availible on the lews site but it appears that they are not.. sorry i didnt look that closely before posting the link. have you tried calling lews? parts for reels can be ordered directly from the by phone. it's worth a shot .
  10. https://www.lews.com/accessories/handleknobs this what you're looking for?
  11. i had 2 alx rods, one zolo and one ikos.. they appeared to be well built rods but i find falcon cara's and even $175 Hammer rods to be much more sensitive in my hands. i got rid of my alx rods and never looked back.
  12. i've been very pleased with my hammer rods. excellent sensitivity, good build quality (on my rods so far) and light weight compared to some other mid tier rods. i actually prefer the exposed reel seat threads and the winn grips.
  13. i had 2 of the wally marshall im8 spinning rods and loved them. super sensitive and light weight.
  14. i think they were the deputy and promise.
  15. in the $200 rod market i really like hammer rods.. i had 2 alx rods and they were nice quality rods but i find the sensitivity of the hammer rods to be much better in my hands.
  16. I just can't get a cavitron to run straight. If I reel any slower it goes under. I only have two of them and they both run off to the left right out of the package.
  17. I'm left handed. I cast with my left and reel with my right. My daughter is right handed. she cast right and reels left.
  18. i do it all the time. it does a good job removing memory from the line and its not like you're putting 20 lbs of force on it. you just put 2-3 lbs of "tension" on it and spool it back up. larry nixon recommended this at a fishing expo.. works for me
  19. small for jig and large for texas rig.
  20. my jdm reel schematic is in Japanese!
  21. I'd recommend a look at Hammer rods
  22. my advise is to buy another brand. my cavitrons all run severly off course and i dont find them to come up on plane or run slower than the competitive brands. they are way overhyped on this site like some of the other sponsored products.
  23. probably the centrifugal brakes, its not uncommon.. take off you side plate and wipe one drop of light oil around the brake drum with a q-tip.
