  1. and if anyone wants to take the time to tell me how to resize a pic so you don't have to scroll over I am all ears.
  2. I caught this fish 2 weeks ago I am calling it 4lbs 12 oz 8-) my scale was ruined because it got wet. I wouldn't even post but i noticed the background when I was showing my buddy. guy is a little off the ramp ;D I thought it would be fun to share those great boat ramp stories and guess the weight of a fish.
  3. I think people want to believe it so they don't feel bad about killing a fish.
  4. my buddy usually brings a six pack and I will sometimes have 1 or 2. I am 6'2 and 300 lbs so 2 beers is like nothing. that said i usually fish in the morning and I just wont drink until at least noon.
  5. I worked 5 years at gander mountain. every day I had 10 guys ask me where I fish. If I shared my spots/lakes with every guy who asked there would be no spots anymore. I have actually had guys see me on a lake and follow me around trying to see where I go because they recognized me from the store. if you are a friend ill show you when I fish with you if you are just a cool guy you get the lake name.
  6. senko if i have to eat fish to live i will catch more fish more often with a senko.
  7. if the line breaks and there is no wear on the line then your drag is too tight.
  8. owner twist lock hooks my favorite hook. no more having the plastic slip down the shank.
  9. my favorite time is full moon or close with clear skies and around 3-4 in the morning until the sun comes up.
  10. I like crappie over 10" they all taste good but you don't have to clean so many to get a meal if you go for larger ones. bass are pretty good too just don't take them if they are bigger than average for your lake around here average is around 2 lbs.
  11. really nice! I am curious what finish did you use. I have a couple baits I have been thinking about repainting.
  12. my go to lure when i cant get bit. just play with different retrieves the fish will tell you what they want.
  13. senko black blue swirl crankbait shad spinnerbait white jig black/blue any one using different colors is wrong
  14. I started out my season fairly decent I was catching numbers but couldn't seem to break that 4LB mark. I went to gander and went to the musky section and I found a Rapala x walk 13. It was big and I love topwater so I picked one up and the next morning my 3rd cast a nice 3 1/2lber. 5 more casts and I pick up a 4.12 lb. I go on to catch 5 more bass all over 3lbs and a little 4 lb musky. not a bad start to a new lure. I have been using this bait for 3 weeks now and have broken the 4lb mark 5 more times and the 5lb mark this morning I am loving this bait! so I am wondering if anyone has a specific lure that has always produced good sized fish for you. here is the xwalk if any one is interested. http://www.cabelas.com/p-0044009121702a.shtml
  15. nice fish, you kept it?
  16. owner beast swimbait hooks. I have used them for yum money minnows and they work very well. I have the 5" money minnow's and use a 6/0 a 7/0 probably wouldn't hurt.
  17. I would have voted top water, a rapala x-walk 13 in silver/black to be exact. if I had to pick one in the poll i would go fluke. you can jump them across the water just like the shad.
  18. the dicks near me is a complete waste of time I dont even try any more
  19. my grandpa swore by it. he wouldn't even go out with an east wind. I have less expectations with an east wind but i will still go. for the most part around here it has some truth.
  20. I have every depth range till 16 ft covered but i don't usually fish past 10 ft.
  21. what keeps me going is, if they aint biting they should be so I will try everything till I catch a few they may not be big but I get as much satisfaction from figuring them out as I do catching them.
  22. I have around 23 years of fishing experience, but I have only 6 of solid, hard core, focused bass fishing experience. I am the best bass fisherman I know and that is the problem. in my very small group of friends (I am pretty antisocial) I am the only one who is constantly trying to improve my self. so I feel I have reached a plateau in my learning. I recently fished with a tournament guy I work with and I felt like an idiot. I caught 1 to his 4 and his were all bigger. I learned a ton from that 1 trip but there it stops again. so if you have people you can learn from it will take you less time to learn vs doing it all alone.
  23. go get a white spinnerbait and a pack of 5" senko's and some 4/0 ewg hooks. ask the guy at the counter in the fishing section how to rig them watch this video http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1247326108 and read this http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1121527643 if you do this and cant catch bass well you might want to stick to trout fishing
  24. just dont keep anything over 2 1/2 lbs and don't worry about it. the smaller bass taste better any way. less mushy too.
  25. since you have to actually catch fish to gain confidence I would suggest finding someone to fish with that uses plastics successfully. I find I get confidence in a new bait if I can see someone else catch fish on it and I will try to watch how they work it.
