get the avid, all shimano rods are garbage my friends, sisters boyfriend has a shimano rod and he said it broke when he stepped on it. I would never fish shimano rods.

just out of curiosity why are people not willing to share where they get it from. I notice Glenn's video raised a lot of interest but no one is talking.

I havent had a bag in a while but strike king 3x plastics had a kind of garlic bread smell i really liked.

I have a small pair of wire cutters that I bring with me. if they get gut hooked and I cant get the hook out in the way they show in that link I reach in and cut the hook as far down as I can. it also works well when you have a treble hook stuck in there. its got to be easier to digest half a hook than the whole thing.

I have an avid 7' MHM crankbait rod, it is a great rod sensitive light the one draw back is the stupid powerhump on the handle. after 3 hours of fishing my hands start to cramp up. maybe I have small wimpy hands but some of my other thinner handled rods don't give me this trouble. I used to work at gander mountain so I have experience with the loomis rods and I like the diameter of the handle but i do wish it was a bit longer, you can definitly two hand cast it. I just like the leverage you get with a longer handle.

x raps are easily my favorite I have a couple LC pointers and husky jerks but i like to x raps better.

I use mega strike I put it on every single lure I throw.

I will go to an x-rap xr10 in either silver or olive green. I will start out fishing it very slow with a sharp jerk and like a 5 second pause. if that doesn't work then I will get very aggressive with it. I will give it a very hard sharp jerk with barely enough pause for me to reel in the slack as quickly as I can for the next jerk. your forearms get quite a work out.

I have been doing really well with a rapala x-walk13 I have been on the lake around 4 AM so I have been getting 2 hours of dark fishing with this lure. I do get alot of misses as I think you will with most walk the dog type lures. I have to remind my self to slow down twitch wait for the lure to stop then twitch again I get alot more hookups that way. and the best part is with such a large bait I have been averaging 3 lbs which is pretty good for MN. http://www.rapala.com/products/luresdetail.cfm?modelName=x-rap_walk_13&freshorsalt=Salt

I have my "spots" and I don't ever fish anywhere else, unless I cant catch fish in my "spots" then I try different areas. I will drive past 20 docks to get to the 5 that are usually the most productive. And for some reason I hate to retie. don't know why but I do. I usually come up with a game plan that has been in the works for 5 days while at work, I rig all my rods for my game plan but then at the lake conditions change but I don't. also my boat positioning is horrible. I am usually so caught up in my lure retrieve that i don't notice that the boat has drifted right on top of some good structure that I intended to fish.

I have been having problems casting spinnerbaits too but my problem is they keep getting tangled up, line wrapped around the blades, line thru the split rings and so on and it takes forever to fix then it happens again after 3-4 casts I do do the long overhand cast though. I watched your video glen and will try the under hand cast. not to hijack but how does every one feel about braid and spinnerbaits.

fantastic video well done! if only there was a video like this on jerkbaits, worms, crankbaits every lure type out there it would really help a lot of people. I don't really like spinnerbaits but now I feel like I need to go get some lumaflex skirts and give it another go. were you working with the bait monkey on this one?

ha I do the my brother fishes with me thing too.

my brother and I have figured out a phrase that will make them bite. for me it is "this spot sucks this is my last cast." for my brother it is. "we haven't caught anything for a while." i swear for like 5 trips in a row. almost every time one of us would say it we would get bit. I know it is bs but still funny.

I just picked up a pack of yum money minnows and plan to rig with an owner weighted hook 6/0 never fished these before and am looking for any info, retrieve speed, cover that works best. thanks and if any one has any suggestions on different swim baits to try I am all ears. Thanks.

in my lakes I noticed that when I hit the lake at 6 the fish were hitting right away. so I started thinking about how much of the bite I was missing so I started coming earlier and earlier until I hit the 4:00 mark. around here it is like a light switch. you go from hot and heavy to nothing and you have to switch over to plastics. and even that is about 1 fish per 20 minutes average.

i try to be on the water by 4 AM. earlier if I cant sleep. top water until around 7 then it's cranks and soft plastics. I am usually off the lake by 10:30. best part is I avoid the crowd's, get to be the first one on my spots and I still have the whole day to spend with wife and kids. sometimes I take the 3 year old and get another hour or two on the lake.

sounds like something I aught to try, you peg the weight then?
