  1. I wasted money when I first bought frogs and bought every color. Just don't cheap out on the brand on them (some fill with water and sink on the first cast). White, Black and Chartreuse are the only colors really needed and if you find a deal on frogs and all they have is white use a chartreuse or black paint marker and paint the bellies those colors.
  2. 7'3" MH Duckett Ghost with a shimano Curado 201I with 12b P-line CXX. I use CXX on most of my rods due to a lot of rocky river fishing. I like other lines and the CXX doesn't cast the best with light lures on my baitcasters but i have burned through other lines in a month if I am fishing the bottom with lots of snags.
  3. Its the largest auction site in the world I just don't know if I can name it. But I am going to send the report to them if any issues arise from it.
  4. I figured he knew what he was doing with almost 900 feedback. I will keep the convo and not pay it. If he threatens bad feedback I will just tell him I will refuse the shipment and he can eat the $27 and get a refund for the $90. I have never had this situation arise before and appreciate the help with it.
  5. A lot of my lures I buy used or from Cabelas clearance section. I have picked up a lot of lucky crafts lately the lvr's and pointers for 5.99. Plus a lot of the baits I like are discontinued so finding them used is the best way so I don't pay an arm and a leg. Swim baits are another thing to buy used if you find the right deal. I have purchased some lure lots that have some expensive discontinued baits I don't use and resold them to pay for the lot.
  6. It was a used rod I bought for about $28 cheaper then new. The agreed upon number was $90 shipped I can buy the same rod for $118 shipped right now when they are normally $169 shipped. He said he already shipped it. At that price point I am already close to buying the new rod. I would rather have a new one and not worry about any abuse to the rod but I like to save money when I can. Should I refuse the shipment?
  7. I am asking this question in this sub-forum because it is somewhat off topic and can be for any item. I purchased an item from an un-named auction site and agreed upon an offered price with the shipping charge of $15 as it was stated in the ad. The seller is asking for more money for the shipping now due to it being $27 not the $15 stated. I look for good deals for a reason. I don't want them to leave me negative feedback for not paying the difference. Do I agree and pay the difference or do I message back and say he should he should have realized the shipping cost before selling the item?
  8. My OCD want me to have matching rods and reels. I don't though just for the simple fact I can find the same feel in my Abu Veracity in other rod brands that I have tried in the med/mod. Same with my frog rod that is a Cabelas Tournament ZX it just loads and feels right. That is why I have always found it hard to ask which brand and which power is right for which situation sure its a great guideline to follow but it doesn't always stand true what 1 likes and what another likes are 2 different things. One day when I pick up a rod and reel sponsor everything will match .

I have 4 of the 50 size and 3 of the 30 size. I am going to pick up the 40 size sometime soon. I use the 50 for largemouth fishing and hawg smallie fishing and the 30 size for normal small fishing. I throw the 50 size on my swimbait setup and the 30 size on my topwater setup.

I haven't fished the Rago before but I own 7 of the spro rats. From personal experience with the spro rats and reading on forums. Bang for your buck is with the spro rat. Between the sound it makes and the action it draws fish in.
  11. Most are happy to but .59 powerbaits all day long and fish them. That is why almost everyone has them in their bait boxes. The difference with the Hudd is not everyone spends $25, $50 or even $100 on a bait. What does that price difference get you? 1) Quality 2) A different bait that a fish hasn't seen in highly pressured waters 3) Confidence in a proven fish catching bait (confidence is key when fishing) FFF If you would have asked me 3 years ago if I would spend $100 on a bait I would have said the same thing as you. Now that I have a box full of Deps, BBZ, Hudds and Savage gears and catch fish on them I don't find it crazy at all. I don't just catch any fish I catch quality fish on them. I take the bait argument the same as a hook argument. Why do I spend more money on trokar and owner hooks when the danielson hooks are way cheaper and get the job done? I would rather land that 1 extra fish in the day then have a hook bend out or not be sharp enough to penetrate. To answer the OP's original question I would look into the Savage gear 8" line through or even the Osprey Line throughs and you can't go wrong with the s-waver. they are both great inexpensive baits that work.
  12. Looking for other bass anglers in Idaho, Western Oregon, Northern Nevada or Northern Utah that want to get together for some kayak or motorless bass fishing. I am always looking new people to fish with. I fish out of a Hobie Pro Angler 14. If you have a small boat with a trolling motor on it I would be happy to go out and keep up with you that way also. Send me a PM if you ever want to get out and do some fishing. I fish in all types of weather. Jeremy
  13. Congrats! I just had my first girl on the 17th. My PB was bigger haha 9lb 7oz. Its been fun so far. good luck!
  14. I started my shopping today. Picked up an Enigma 7'8" med heavy for cranking and smaller swimbaits and a Diawa Tatula 200 HD for it. TW order is happening tomorrow for some new swimbaits.
  15. Bait monkey got me again it had been 3 months since I placed an order. Got my winter river fishing gear in.
  16. I use the Lowrance 3x. I use Navionics on my phone to mark waypoints. I just need something inexpensive to show structure and depth and temp.
  17. My New ride- '15 PA 14. Just a basic Lowrance Elite 3x ff. Still Working on customization.
  18. I tested some other yaks out and made the decision on the PA 14 due to stability and ease of movement. I can paddle still in shallow water and the storage is great on it.
  19. I have access to a 18' jet boat any time I want to use a boat. With a kayak the other part is stealth. I will do some demo's today and tomorrow and keep everyone posted on what I decide.
  20. I will definitely demo one. The main kayaks I was considering was the ATAK and the PA. The downside is finding the ATAK locally having to pay extra for the rudder and for the torqueedo. I would be over 4k in the hole at that point. I won't count it out yet though. The other reason for the PA decision wise is the I would be getting a demo model at a great price. I plan on only buying my main kayak once and then if I needed a paddle yak for other options like skinny rivers then I would pick up one that was smaller.
  21. Those were but the issue I am having is I fish a lot of moving water and I am thinking the mirage drive will be better for that. I would go with one and just get a torqueedo but then I would have to register it.
  22. I am making the jump into the kayak world. I grew up on water as a kid and I am pretty comfortable on any boat platform. I am doing a demo on the PA 14 this Thursday. I tried the slayer in the spring and it felt too narrow. I am 6'1 300# so I figure the capacity will be plenty. Plans for the yak are going to be a homemade live well, ff and some rod holders to start. I have been doing research for the last year trying to figure out what I really need and don't need. I am going to try it without the h-bar for standing up unless someone highly recommends it. Any input is definitely appreciated. The whole reason I am going with the kayak is ease of loading and unloading and I mostly fish by myself anyways.
  23. I fish a lot of rocky rivers and snag quite a few off but they do last forever otherwise. I use a 6'10" phenix maxim ML rod and a lews speed spool reel.
  24. The Okuma SST series ultralight is a great all around rod. It's 7ft and I have 2 of them. They have caught everything from perch, trout and crappie up to a 4lb smallie and 25 inch steelhead. It's a great rod and pair it with a great reel and for around $140 you can build a fantastic combo.
