  1. Guess I should have been more clear on the flukes. I use the regular flukes for jerkbaits but I was trying the paddle tail swimming flukes along with the kvd. New to bass fishing and tired of not catching bass so gotta learn new stuff haha
  2. I wanted to try paddle tail swimbaits so I bought some flukes and kvd and paired them with mustad power lock plus EWG weighted hooks. My question is I'm unsure of what the correct action is supposed to be? Are they supposed to run true and just kick and move water? mine kind of rocked back and forth and rolled over when I checked it by the boat? Didn't seem right to me. Any input?
  3. I've never paid much attention to the wind and fishing. I was recently watching a fishing show and this guy said only if they could get some wind but nothing was ever explained. So how does the wind affect fishing? Calm vs moderate and heavy winds, and how does it affect a pond vs a big lake?
  4. I have two of them and with the swamps down here in GA you cannot hunt the archery season without one! definitely the best $20 I have ever spent. the butane usually last about 10-12 hours and the mats about 4. it usually takes 15 min or so to start working and if its windy I place it up wind of me and it works great. this is with the hand held smaller version I have not tried the lantern yet.
  5. This is definitely a noob question but here it goes. everything I read or watch says to bump square bills into any and everything that you can find and it will help out tremendously. well ive tried this a couple of different times and don't really feel it bump off anything I just get hung up and loose the lure. its easier on me and the wallet to loose soft plastics so I can deal with that but hard baits can get expensive fast. any advise?
  6. Well in the ponds defense 95% of the vegetation is so thick I could walk on it and nothing I had would penetrate it. Only had a few small open areas and I'm not even sure I'm fishing it correct I just started trying it out. Flipping that is
  7. It can definitely be tough!
  8. Went to a local pond this morning big enough for my boat. I've been here twice before and only caught one little bass each time both on trick worms. Today it was over cast with the water temp at 72-73. The water is super black with about 1' of visibility. I started with a lipless crankbait then tried a square bill then spinner bait. I tried a Carolina rig near a bank of overhangs and pitched a jig near some trees that had fallen in the water and ended the day with trying to flip some of the open areas in the thick vegetation. Didn't even get a single bite and fished for 5 hrs. Is there anything that y'all can help me with what y'all would have tried? Or what I can do different or learn from? Thanks for all the help in advance!
  9. Yep! Just the other day. Weather said mid 80's with zero chance of rain. I went out and without warning a thunderstorm comes in and I get soaked going back to the boat ramp and loading on the trailer!
  10. It does help thanks!
  11. When fishing baits with skirts like spinners, chatter baits, jigs ect do you use the same colors for water clarity as you do with soft plastics?
  12. Definitely a lot of good information thanks guys!
  13. Great advise guys! I don't have a heavy flipping rod so this gives me an excuse to buy a new rod and reel set up hehe
  14. Thanks for the advise!
  15. What's the most effective way to fish lily pads? I've tried Texas and Carolina rigs but seem to get hung up a lot and not much action on a frog. All advice appreciated!
  16. Down here in south GA I fish a lot of dark water and I'm trying to gain some confidence in the fluke. I was just curious would they work well in stained and murky water? I fish them at times but it's hard for me to keep throwing a bait I don't have confidence in. All help appreciated guys!
  17. Mine is getting better at finding fish! Idk why but it's so hard for me
  18. Ok I'm still having a lot of trouble getting my new depth finder working for me. I have an elite 5 hdi. I have the settings on auto and shallow water, but I still see what looks like to me a lot of interference or something. I know that all applications and water is different but what would be a good starting settings for water no deeper than. 15-20' thanks in advance for all the help guys!
  19. I can't get a pic to upload
  20. I'm very new to electronics can anyone tell me what all these lines are?
  21. I used to live near there before joining the military and been there a lot after. Like mentioned above cades cove is a good adventure, a lot of shops and go carts for the family. If u are into history I recommend the titanic museum it's pretty cool and for dinner definitely go to Dixie stampede. It's a dinner show with horses and no silverware it's pretty fun they have a ripleys aquarium, and if want to go theme park dolly wood is there and being spring break if go to the watermark side, and a bass pro shop down the road. It's a great place for family vacation and y'all will find plenty to do.
  22. I want to broaden the tools at my disposal. I don't fish with jigs or spinnerbaits and I see on here a lot that those are go to baits. What would be good ones to start with? I go to the tackle shop and it's so overwhelming with the colors, styles ect. Most if the water I fish is stained and murky water. Not sure on colors either so that would help as well thanks guys for helping a new guy to the sport!
  23. I know I'm not the only one with a radio in my boat. At times fishing alone I really enjoy the quietness of everything but at times I enjoy low music. I've never noticed the bite shut down while it's on. Anybody ever noticed if it affect catching?
