Ned/Neko/Wacky
For me, if I think bass are holding on cover I will throw a wacky, if I think they are out in deeper water or feeding on bottom I will switch to a ned…

I want to brag on myself for a sec..
I just want to take a minute to self reflect and brag on myself a little bit. I have been fishing most of my adult life but I always grew up power fishing with mostly little to no finesse fishing. A couple of years ago I decided to take the time and effort to learn as much as I can about wacky rig and drop shot fishing. I’m happy to say that now those are two techniques that I don’t never have tied onto the front of my boat deck. I don’t always catch limits when I go but now I very rarely ever skunk. Thank you Glenn, Tom, AJ and lots of other bass resource posters for helping folks like me become better anglers. For the record, my go to set ups are a VMC size 2 wacky hook with a Berkley General Maxscent 5 inch worm and for the drop shot a size 1/0 VMC neko finesse hook with a 1/4 ounce tungsten teardrop and a 4 1/2 inch straight tail Roboworm. I feel like making this leap has definitely made me a better angler.

drop shot beginner
Went out yesterday shortly after daylight and threw a 4.5 inch roboworm in tequilla sunrise with a 1/4oz tungsten teardrop weight with 8lb fireline and a 10lb flouro leader.. it worked.. caught 6 in 3 hours biggest weighed 2.87 which is moderate size for our local lakes

drop shot beginner
I agree, except I am sick of getting beat by it in tournaments. A couple of years ago I dedicated myself to learn to wacky rig and now it’s one technique I never don’t have on the deck of the boat and most of my tournament fish over the last two years have come on it. The only problem with that is I am weighing in 3 or 4 keepers when I would have previously zero‘d and lose to guys that catch limits while dropshotting.. I did go out and catch 4 bass today on a dropshot. Med/Heavy Spinning rod with 8lb fireline/10lb flouro leader and 1/4oz tungsten weight with size 2 neko hook rigging a roboworm weedless caught 2 on Aaron’s Magic and 2 on Morning Dawn

Doing your business on the water (#1 and #2...)
I just pee over the side but I stand in the cockpit and brace my knees on the rail to help stabilize me.. I try to make sure nobody is around but i’m usually alone or the wifey is with me she pays no attention or sometimes watches the show… at a distance it’s hard to tell what people are doing on a boat anyways.. Something I’ve often wondered how does it work with a male or female boater that gets paired with a non-boater or marshall of the opposite sex?

Neko Rig
Been focusing hard on it lately man it’s a versatile technique.. Can literally be fished anywhere in the lake.. caught some shallow.. caught some deep on the bottom.. and shhh caught some suspended with Livescope on it today… I like using the 5in Berkley Maxscent General with the VMC crossover ring on the eggsack of the worm.. 1/16oz nail weight on 8lb braid/flouro leader with a #2 VMC wacky hook…

Preparing to fish a new lake, help needed
If it were me I’d look for a wind blown main lake point near a channel and fish moving baits up shallow in the early morning and after the sun gets high back out and drag bottom baits where the point ends in the deepest water or where the thermocline hits the point.. if there is cover there even better.. fish will be shallower in the lower light conditions of early morning and go deep when the sun gets bright and penetrates deeper into the water column.

For the scopers
Our lake has mainly alewives, gizzards, and bluegills…

For the scopers
So his theory is that the cooler the water the less their brains work and they react without thinking and the warmer the water the smarter they are? It makes me feel better that he said in 70+ degree water that 99 out 100 suspended fish won’t bite.. I have noticed that all of the bass I have caught on Livescope since the spawn has came off the bottom or straight up from the bottom to eat my bait

For the scopers
That’s the $1,000,000 question

For the scopers
Good advice right there!

For the scopers
I started off the year back in March slaying it with the ballhead/minnow my exact deal was a 1/8oz yum FFS jighead and a Crush City Freeloader in gizzard shad but now I can’t buy a bite with any combination of color, size, fall rate… I may have 50 bass a trip track it, follow it, swarm it, but won’t commit to it. I’ve also tried jerkbaits, hover rigs, finesse worms without much success..Anyone got any advice??
-
Jerkbaits
I like the Strike King 200 series with the two treble hooks.. more finesse and smaller profile

Fav 1/4oz jihead for FFS
Have you found that any particular jighead shows up better on livescope? I’ve read that tungsten shows better than lead and ball head better than minnow head…. Anyone noticed any differences?

Livescope Battery
I went a head and pulled the trigger on a 12v 30AH lithium. I’m gonna store it next to the black box in my storage compartment under the front deck and solely run the black box and 93 UHD off of it…
-
Livescope Battery
I just went ahead and got a 12v 30AH lithium.. It was a little more expensive but worth it for the peace of mind.. I’ll only run the black box and unit off it and leave everything else in the boat as is
-
Livescope Battery
12v size 27 I’m thinking about ordering a 12v 20AH lithium and keeping it next to the black box under the front deck in one of the storage compartments
-
Livescope Battery
I’ll run the livescope on my Echomap UHD 93sv and i’ll have an echomap 73sv and a striker 73vc at the console
-
Livescope Battery
Is it possible to run livescope from my cranking battery? My two graphs are on the cranking battery and I have my two trolling batteries networked for 24V to run my trolling motor..

Jig Heads for Small Swimbaits
I love it. Instantly change from a swimbait to a Ned.. Smart idea
-
Jig Heads for Small Swimbaits
I've used the half head as a ned rig but never tried it on a swimbait? Does it impede the action of the paddle tail of the swimbaits at all?
