  1. Lol. I think he means don't jerk the hook out and get him back in the water ASAP. Which is what I did. Still makes me feel bad. But that comes with the territory though.
  2. Actually it was through his lower jaw and knicked his gill. Just venting my problems.
  3. Just barely caught the bottom of his right gill. But still makes me feel guilty.
  4. Well I caught one after about a billion casts, luck and the magic of a Yamamoto senko.
  5. If the spawn is happening could that be a reason? I always seem to have trouble with this river once the weather gets into the 80's
  6. Went out yesterday and fished a senko and spinnerbait under some docks and lay downs. No luck. Zero. I usually catch at least one fish. The temp was 81 degrees. Water at 62 degrees. Barometric pressure at 31.04. Water clarity was about 1.5 to 2 feet. What do you guys have luck with on these kind of days?
  7. 12lb seaguar red label works perfect for me. I have the same rod as you.
  8. I guess I should have specified the premium options. The other stuff is free.
  9. Has anyone on here used it extensively?
  10. It has a little. I was down at the river today, 53 degrees and muddy like chocolate milk. The lakes probably get even more of a warming effect from the rain with all the creeks and run off flowing into them. You could do what I do and just get a thermometer to keep with your tackle. I got a nice one at cabelas that works just fine.
  11. Yeah I never found any temperature readings either. Sometimes on the DNR's fishing reports they list a ballpark temp like 60's or 70's but nothing really accurate.
  12. Yeah I'm surprised too. I've been keeping track of the river surface temps myself. I don't have any lake temps but if you need Kanawha river info I can help. I've caught two nice fish this week, so they must be getting more active.
  13. Another good day, only one fish but for an hour of fishing on this river, it isn't bad. About 14 inches. Not sure how much he weighed. Biggest fish I've caught here in a while.
  14. I have two Mojo's that work really well for me, they're a little stiff and not as sensitive as some others but feel really durable and as mentioned above, good warranties.
  15. Well, I actually caught my first one of the season today. Looked healthy, no visible problems. The river was 51 degrees and caught him on a Spinnerbait. I'm starting to think there just aren't many fish near where I'm fishing. It's tough to figure out.
  16. First fish of the year. He isn't much, but it feels good to be catching again.
  17. I've been fishing the river 4 days a week. No luck yet. Waters at 52 degrees.
  18. Today is the first day I saw them. Windy day, partly cloudy. I see the bait fish all the time in the late spring and summer around my dock, but never catch any bass. A weird place in my opinion.....or I'm just not that good of an angler.
  19. Is it normal to see this? Also I could be mistaken. But there were definitely very small fish breaking the surface when I brought my chatter bait through them.
  20. Can't find any info online. So I bought a pool thermometer and I'm going to keep track myself. Made an excel chart with the surface temp, air temps, amount of rainfall, daily weather conditions, and sunrise and sunset. Should be interesting to see how all of this relates to water temperature and the amount of fish I catch.
  21. Is there an average time of year? I'm having a really tough time catching anything on the river this past week.
  22. Do you have a link to that schematic? I have one that I need to clean and would like to make sure it goes back together right.
  23. Where can I find current River temps online?
  24. One of my older shimano spinning reels wobbles when I and reeling it in. What could be causing this?
  25. My Citica G is really nice, smooth as glass and powerful. Can't go wrong with any shimano reel. Also, the Citica has an aluminum frame if you're worried about durability
