  1. I'm new to the game, so I need some gear. Give me the run down and keep it civil. Don't want to spend an arm and a leg on it. And if at all possible, I'd like to be able to use it on a baitcaster. And yes, I can throw unusually light baits on said combo.
  2. Ones I'm looking at are 129.99 at BPS. And a Lew's BB1HLZ. Best reel I've ever used.
  3. Is that BPS in just your area or in all of them? I'm making a trip and I don't want to just run up there for one item.
  4. Basically just pick one that looks better with your reel.
  5. I've had my optimas for 10 years both deep cycle and cranking. On board chargers work wonders. And when I can get my cranking to optima, no more cold natured. Starts first time, every time.
  6. X2. I've been told the black are better.
  7. I was too lazy to correct him on that. The link you gave clearly showed the process.
  8. What's the difference besides color?
  9. Well, I'm just going off what the website states. And no, I'm sitting here looking at the box of 100% fluorocarbon P line.
  10. And I do jeeps as well, I just need something reliable.
  11. White or black is my only problem.
  12. Nah, got a buddy that's a merc dealer. I can get you whatever you need.
  13. Yea...the 350 may be a bit much. This isn't Allison. But carbon fiber would be neat if they didn't ruin it with a gelcoat. God....carbon fiber with the 350...looking at roughly a 100,000-150,000 bucks? Is this gonna be Wood approved?
  14. I've never used them because of price. Lead works for me. But the insert post interests me. Why?
  15. Steel, I'll be the first one to apologize for the slight hazing. Just trying to have a laugh. Post a pic and I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of it. Maybe even find you a place to buy them.
  16. I feel your pain. Nothing feels like a lunker more than getting hung on a stick in a snow drift.
  17. Being a newbie, spend a little more and find a Lew's BB1HLZ (if you're a left retrieve) or comparable right hander. They centrifugal brake settings on the spool literally will not let you backlash. I was shocked when my first cast went straight into the ground while practicing. My fault. I'm casting into strong winds now with no fear of backlash. So far, I've got easily over 10,000 casts with no backlash. It's the perfect beginner.
  18. Unless you fish professionally or fish tournaments every weekend, I feel it's a waste. Granted, I'm not the richest man in the world, but I fish for the enjoyment. Spending a grand on fishing is not the route for me considering the fish I've caught on the stuff I have. If I can do it, anyone can.
  19. Well, one is a completely different manufacturing process. P line is fluoro coated nylon. And it's performance in my local waters was horrendous. Then again, yo-zuri may be the same. But I know the two are manufactured in two different ways.
  20. I've used P line and was not impressed at all. And I was wondering. It's the same diameter as the 10 lb I'm currently using.
  21. I assume you have a roll nearby. What's the diameter of the #12?
  22. I've read a lot of posts that have people using yo-zuri. Is it that good?
  23. I'm looking for a quality line in the 10 - 12 lb range. Don't use braid, usually only clear or mono. Any ideas? Just tired of getting medium sized spools that don't last long.
  24. I bought a Lew's BB1HLZ from a local dealer when the fishing show rolled around. Prices at 159.99, had it shown at 140. Old man chased me down and dropped it to 130. I offered 120, Ended up at 125, 137 after tax. It's by far smoother than any Daiwa, Shimano, or Pinnacle I've picked up so far. And let me put it this way....I'm saving up to buy 3 more of them.
