  1. Are they worth the 10.49 per? I'm kinda afraid to spend the money seeing as I've thrown them under every condition and never caught anything over a pound.
  2. I'll stick with my optimas. Always been reliable and no shortage of power. Switched from diehard when I got the boat seeing as the motor was cold natured. Not any more.
  3. No offense to the people that use them, but to me, they are the antichrist. Like zebco. They're good for certain people, just not me.
  4. Since helping my roommate put a jack plate on his new Z522, I've been thinking about my old man's 1997 391 XT. It needs a jack plate, just don't know how big of one. Any ideas?
  5. I tend to only fish buzzbaits around dock (which I tune them to run under them), or around trees that just have branches in the water. Either way, nothing beats the witnessed strike on a topwater.
  6. I purchased a few of the minnows and love them. I can't tell you how many 5+ pounders I've pulled from submerged timber and docks.
  7. I actually own a few of the Lumaflex. You are right, I haven't tried any other skirts since I went to them.
  8. Me and the old man have been pouring them from our melting pot for years. Beats paying outrageous prices for them.
  9. When nighttime fishing comes around, I pull out the old magnum tackle box stocked with nothing but bombers. That is, if they're not hitting the worms.
  10. I'm with bluebasser86 on this one. Plus it's usually cheaper. Just remember to trim the ends clean and melt them so it won't fray. I replaced the pull cord for my trolling motor with it and it works fine.
  11. Well, let me indulge further. Is it worth getting the standard model or the one with the power pulse quick skirts?
  12. About to purchase a few of these and I'm just wondering how good they are. I've heard good things so far.
  13. Stuck to my guns. Number 5 jointed shad rap in fire craw did the trick.
  14. I have both. Able to cast both easily on my baitcaster and prefer the shallow near docks and the deep everywhere else. Won a few tournaments because of them.
  15. I'm pulling a 1996 Ranger with a old H1. As for mileage.....disappointing.
  16. Banjo minnow...brings back memories. And I can't turn down the chance to fish. And what kind of swimbait/hooks do you prefer in stained water hovering around the mid 40s? Caught fish last week as low as 44.
  17. So, last weekend I whipped my old man while he threw his beloved Alabama rig. This weekend, weather permitting, he's changing tactics on me and we won't be fishing the shallows where my usual Jointed Shad Raps work. He's gotten word that they're hitting near bluffs on the A rig. Should I follow suit of stick to my plugs? I'm too stubborn to give up my hard earned money to our weekly bets.
  18. I second this question. Threw my old man's and it just seems way to heavy to throw all day. And I'm starting to shy away from them seeing as I outfished him using nothing more than a number 5 jointed shad rap in crawdad. Are they worth throwing cast after cast or should I just stick to what works?
  19. But if you're gonna buy it at list price, spend the extra money and grab a Lew's.
  20. I own one. The rod is better than the reel. Listed as 49.99 for a 7' and 100 for the reel. Happened to have a great manager that combined them for 125. The reel was surprisingly good. Almost as smooth as my new Lew's BB1HLZ.
  21. If you want an idea of what I'm working with, it's a Lew's BB1 on a Quantum escalade HD. Keeper is behind the reel and the cover comes just short of the reel.
  22. I stick with the BPS brand. Had them since they came out with only 1 problem. The black ones are stated for 7' rods, yet fit on a 6'6 rod like they were custom made for it.
  23. Wasn't bad on my part, but duck hunting out of my previous boat (17' tri hull bullet), me and some buddies were just running up the lake. Came around a corner and saw our limit. We chambered, drew, and immediately saw a man stand up in his blind yelling "Don't shoot my decoys! Don't shoot my decoys!"
  24. Ladies and gents, that's why I'm loving east tennessee. No matter how cold it gets, I'll always find fish.
  25. Keep at it Joe. I can't tell you how many times my old man tells me that it's not the right time to throw a rat l trap and I end up landing a monster. Some of my biggest bass have come off them.
