  1. I saw these on BPS online. Good thing I decided not to get them.
  2. NEWMAN!
  3. I'm seeing to many posts about frogs. I have to get back to Guntersville.
  4. Do you carry all your gear in with you or do you have one of the packs with rod holders? I do the occasional bank fishing on my way home from work and I get tired of lunking everything in under both arms.
  5. That was almost 10 year ago. Way before I owned a smartphone. Or a phone in general. Oh...why do I feel old now?
  6. If you have a diesel and are willing to do the work and chemistry, it's a great money saver in the long run. And, you can sell the byproducts of the process. Glycerin. Make soap. And sell.
  7. The tank and chemicals are what makes it so expensive. Being related to an owner of a local race track, the fuel components cab be gotten cheap. Lye on the other hand, very controlled in the amount we buy. Oil is free. Tank ran almost 2 grand. We have since regained what we've spent on all the items.
  8. Laugh all you want. Last batch we cooked up at roughly 17c a gallon. When was gas that low? Not in my lifetime. Granted, startup cost was disturbing...
  9. I've found some baits float a little too much for me. In cold water, Yamamoto Jerkbaits float in my waters and the added weight of the swivel makes it sink. And other from that and little georges, I don't use them.
  10. I thought that as well. We pour in the summer and allow them to dry in the hot sun. They dry right up with no issues. I can't tell you how much me and the old man have saved over the last 15 years. I'd pour, trim, sand, and paint while he'd do the rubber work. Probably 1000s of fish over the years.
  11. This is sounding better. Really surprised zoom or Berkeley hasn't jumped on this.
  12. Not so much. We were pushing 65 with a 115 merc on our full bullet. Then again, I did rebuild it from scratch with the help of a former merc racing engine builder. You'd hear me coming miles away. But definitely go for the 150. It'll make a world of difference.
  13. I know I'll be ok trying on a baitcaster for the first time. My reel hasn't back lashed on the 1/8 oz stuff I'm throwing, so I'll be ok. Just need to find the colors that work.
  14. I'm imagining TWRA thundering up the lake with two of those just pounding away. Forget a cigarette boat....
  15. That boat have a casting deck?
  16. We have a 97 391 XT and there's no way to put a rod over 6' on the back deck behind the seats. All my 7 footers fit in the rod box on the port side. Can't get them in the starboard side due to the windshield. Ask for a measurement to be safe.
  17. Smart move. Us under 25 would have had a giggle. Guy on another thread was talking about the unburnt oil in 2 cycle and called it *******. I fell out of my seat.
  18. I try to go with the smallest one possible or not at all. I've found it does mess somewhat with my lures. If you use jerkbaits, don't use them. Messes with the presentation.
  19. So, it's either gonna be sunline or cx. I can't make up my mind.
  20. Have you been doing "custom paint" on you lures? And idk. I pour my own jigs and paint them with finger nail polish. That doesn't deter them.
  21. Just run it up and down the lake just above a plane and get the files running well through it and you should be fine.
  22. BPS should do it. Just called my local for BPS buddy for you. Said none of that was an issue. Or it shouldn't be. Said it sounded like either the "professional" that does them is sick/vacation or they just don't want to do them. They had that problem at ours. But, buy a boat and they'll jump through hoops to get them on it. Idk what to do. Maybe try a local boat business. Money is money, no matter who's pocket it comes from.
  23. Not if you look hard enough. I actually spent the money on a custom rod just because it matched my reel. I did perform well though. Too bad it broke.
  24. It'll be a while before the boats catch up with that. Or if TWRA sees it and buys them for their boats. Wouldn't surprise me.
  25. Ah. The horrible impulse buy. The reason I bought a boat. I pick a rod for all around use. The only rods and reels I put effort into are the baitcasters because I use them so much. The only thing I throw on a spinning outfit are my ultra light stuff and that's few and far between. But looks go a long way. I can't stand seeing a blue, yellow, green,or any other weird color on a opposing color. White rods and black rods are for me. They match perfectly with my black Lew's and my Lew's I had custom painted for my rod.
