  1. I absolutely love it for the price. Hard to beat it at 39.99 for the 6'6 and 49.99 for the 7. And as for the people wondering what I mean by not stupid enough to buy a purpose built rod? Why in the hell would I buy a rod for cranks, jerks, plastic, spinners, topwater...you're looking at roughly $700-900 for that. Or I can buy 2 all purpose rods and high quality reels for $300. Besides, I've got the equivalent to the bait monkey with cars. Trust me, my subaru is draining the wallet just as quickly as fishing.
  2. Well, they're listed at 109 I do believe. Worth the money?
  3. I've seen these. They're rare. Just happen to blow into town every once in a while...I hope people are laughing by now.
  4. How sensitive are they? I've got (again) a Quantum Octane and Escalade HD that feel absolutely amazing compared to my St. Croix. All are MH(Octane feels more like a M), 6'6...but with the Quantums, I can feel absolutely every rock, pebble, dare I say grain of sand. I've kept the Octanes for the purpose of Carolina/Texas rigs due to sensitivity. Keep in mind, I would prefer to fish everything I own on these rods. I'm not stupid enough to buy rods just for one thing and for good reason.
  5. Don't feel bad about bad sales reps. When I went and bought my Ranger off of the showroom floor, I knew more about their boats than they did. I actually cried on my way to the bank. Such quality ruined by such stupidity.
  6. I love the weight even though weight is the last factor in rods for me. I've got a 15 year old Allstar that feels just as good as rods I've felt today. However, I've gotten into micro guides and am finally ready to change over. I've read bad things about the Carbonlite w/micro guides. Every site. Roughly 1 in 10 reviews. Can anyone elaborate on the matter? I have some cheap Quantum rods with them and I love them. Do they have problems with them?
  7. Well, Idk about everyone else, but I know my rod and have no issue buying one out of the blue knowing it's the same identical item I already own.
  8. When I get around rock and bluffs, for some reason cranks and plastics seem nonexistent to me.
  9. Out of fashion? Do what all comes naturally to us. Fish what catches fish.
  10. Another question. We recently had a battery drain on the crank battery. It runs the 200 Yamaha and the two lowrance HDS12 /HDS9. We're replacing the battery, but would it be worth running a fourth battery just for electronics? We don't want to rub them on the tm set mainly for potential interference. We do run both, but the 12 is only running when we're using the 200. In between, it's in standby.
  11. Roommate has one. I can't get enough of just sitting in the boat and watching it do all the work (not that I'm incompetent). And I can see it happening if there's fishing a specific bank. I see the FLW guys when they come up fishing the bluffs and at the pace they move, it'd be worth it. I know his is set up to follow a specific trail on his HDS12. Like Ronco, just set it and forget it.
  12. I've got a go pro mount for the top of the engine cover. Even at 60 it'll hold on tight. Thank god for lifetime replacement.
  13. In TN, they don't require a vest while in motion, but who's that stupid? Few ways mother nature can still thin the herd.
  14. Unplug. When I was test driving the ranger, the brand new trolling motor wouldn't work. Turns out the guy charged it with it plugged in. Destroyed the circuits in the motor. Good thing he paid to have it fixed. Unplug just to be safe.
  15. They look awesome and at 3/8 oz, it's more than enough to throw on my baitcaster. And they're hooked like the old powerbait swim baits. I'm really tempted just for s&g.
  16. Sounds like you boys should move south. Tied on one of my new Terminator T1s Friday night (getting ready for Saturday ), and boy was I shocked. 3/8 w/ willow and Colorado in black with red flake. Nailed a 4 pounder third cast and after the water temp hit 44, backed it up with two 7s and a 6 pounder. I'll stick with the spinnerbaits.
  17. Has anyone used these? I fish quite a bit of partially - mostly submerged trees around the banks and I'm usually caught fishing an unweighted crawdad worm with quite a good success rate. I'm kinda getting tired of my spinning outfit and prefer using my baitcaster. Would these be a good alternative?
  18. I just ordered a few rods from megabass and they included next day shipping no extra cost. Then again, for what I paid, I think Vaseline was involved.
  19. They can say hunting action all they want. They don't hunt nearly as well as Rapala's scatter rap.
  20. x2. If my second doesn't offer gas or lunch, I'm going solo. How's the saying go? Gas,grass, or.....ya'll know.
  21. Seeing as we are paranoid about locking up our trailer at the marina, we've been using a standard shackle lock for the trailer instead of the provided pin. On some trips (while detaching the trailer), we find the lock has rotated and is jammed under the tongue between it and the hitch. I've see pin locks from Ranger, but they look flimsy. Any other ideas? (No, we won't be using a bolt)
  22. That sounds about right for that motor. Our 115 merc ran 60 on the old bullet. This 200 we have on the ranger, I let off at 65. I'd prefer not to be the first to run it wide open.
  23. That all depends. 95% of the time you'll be in the back. However, when me and the old man run the Hiawassee river, you're almost required to fish from the front seeing as almost all bites from cranks come from parallel to the bank. It really just depends.
  24. We searched for a while for ours. 1997 Ranger 391 XT. Smoothest boat I have ever been in on rough water. Paid 13,500 for it. At the time of purchase, it had two brand new Lowrance HDS9/HDS12 priced at near 6,000. So it came out to be one of the best boats Forrest Wood ever made for roughly 7,000. Hard to beat that for a boat in factory condition.
  25. Well, when you're running biodiesel, you'll save the money.
