  1. Smallie fishing on East Grand Traverse Bay in Traverse City, MI. Watch it tomorrow night if you're able to. Spectacular.
  2. On the Water with Hank Parker is featuring my home waters tomorrow night. Take a look.
  3. I enjoy watching people catch big fish, I enjoy learning new techniques, and I enjoy seeing new products. So if a shoe has any or all of those, I'm there. The only one I absolutely can't do is Sweetwater. Those guys...holy cow...I'll take rednecks noodling catfish any day over them.
  4. Oh, right. Yeah I am all for others selling their babies.
  5. Sell it!? That's preposterous. I think the consensus, and what I was leaning towards, is using it for my light and shallow cranks. I could never sell my babies.
  6. Saw that video a week or so ago (subscriber, although a lazy one) and just happened across the post. Nice fish, man. Makes me wish A: I had managed to look less stupid in the video of my pb pike, and B: I had more video of the fight other than the last 1:15 of it my buddy got on his camera phone. I love watching people catch big fish, and especially when it's area dudes. Makes me feel like I'm not the only idiot out there spending so much time, energy, and (limited) brainpower trying to figure these things out.
  7. I thought that it would feel funky holding the rod in my left after so long holding it in my right with spinning rods, but after 3 years of doing it, the balance feels so much better. I've tried using my buddy's LH baitcaster and it feels alien to me. I think it has something to do with the difference in balance and how you hold it that makes it easier one way or another. I'm not trying to convince you either way, just relating my personal experience.
  8. My sister-in-law's name is Stella. I could never do that to my dog...
  9. Keep at it. I learned on a $60 Black Max combo, backlashed like crazy, got the hang of it, and now I use any sort of baitcaster with minimal issue. Just get the hang of the breaks, once you get the side plate off, and the spool tension and practice practice practice.
  10. Honey hole. Swamp Donkey. Miss Piggy. Sow. Windbag. Sandwich maker. Muskelungs (sic). Huge tracks of land. Barely legal. Drift sock. Stop-talking-I'm-fishing. Don't-call-me-they're-schooling. Why-do-you-need-so-many-rods. Let me know if none of those work...
  11. It's going to be a few months as there is a couple feet of snow between me and fishing right now.
  12. Something could be made on Jupiter. If it catches me fish I don't care.
  13. Hey, I've got that same color...They did their homework, then. I imagine most guys from Florida spell it "Nuthin" instead of "nothing"...?
  14. I have plenty of cranks. This thread is not about me trying to boost my collection. I was just trying to find anyone that may have gotten the same thing and used them. And make fun of their cheapness as a sidebar. But I plan on fishing the hell out of them until I lose them.
  15. Good thing I didn't waste my money. I wasted my sister's money. It's always a goal to waste other peoples' money.
  16. That might be being generous. But they'be got lures that are modeled on Rat-L-Traps and Aruku Shads, some other kind of lipless, a couple poppers, a couple walking baits, a couple light crankbaits, and a couple floating minnows. Decent-looking colors with some potential. Worth using from the bank or where I might have a higher chance of losing something. If I catch a fish or two with them it'll be a win in my book.
  17. I am aware. That was supposed to be a joke about Con-Air.
  18. I thought Skynyrd was from Alabama. Thanks a lot Nick Cage...
  19. My sister got me a lot of crankbaits from Nuthin Fancy for Christmas. Does anyone have any experience with these? Don't bother trying to research them, it looks like they use Amazon as their de facto website.
  20. FYI, I think TW usually has that kind of info in their descriptions.
  21. Stock hooks are size 6 VMC. I had to replace a rear hook after breaking a tine removing it from my third smallie in an hour my first outing with it.
  22. I used it last year, I actually liked it a lot with the deeper cranks. For the shallower cranks I did find it quite slow. That's one reason for the switch.
  23. Not rolling any dice. I know what it WILL do. If it WON'T do something, I'll adjust accordingly. So if a MH rod has a lure rating of 1/4-1oz, I'm pretty confident I can throw a SK 10XD. But I'm not so confident I can throw a rapala DT 4, even though it's within the specs. And I look at reviews, but that's what the search is for. I try to save my time and questions for things which I can't find answers.
  24. I would say my backpack weighs between 15-20 fully loaded and my tackle bag probably weighs close to 30-40. When the pack is on my back and the bag is slung across my body it's not bad. Remember, soldiers carry 75-100 pounds on 30 mile runs. Suck it up and fill it up...
