Naw, I proudly toss a pink sparkle Bandit for smallies all the time, they love all that bling:)
  2. I have the 2 of the bags that were 1 generation earlier, no box strapped to the top and really like them. Most plano bags are well made and will last you a while. The hard bottoms are a life saver if your boat is docked overnight and the carpet gets a lot of dew on it, or is wet from rain, really helps keep your gear dry.
  3. I would have to guess it is about efficiency and covering water. A senko or say a Ned rig is a slow presentation and not the most efficient. Then again if your blanking why not slow down. I will have to watch my magazines to see what they use, I usually don't pay a lot of attention to sponsored guys using sponsor baits.
  4. Another vote for the Bandit flat maxx, it was great for me last year when I saw sub 40 degree air temps in July.
  5. Since the season is still closed, nothing yet, but I quit trying to think about it. Expecting to lose 20+ cranks and lots of jig plastic combos again this year. Shore fishing can get expensive. Don't lose as much from the boat unless a pike or musky gets me.
  6. Not that I need anymore plastics, but what kind of trailer is that? It looks pretty cool.
  7. So really the c rig is like a mojo of split shot, but has a bead for sound and a heavier sliding weight. I may still try the pre tied rig a few times, just because I have no idea if it would work and wouldn't want to sacrifice a rod choice just yet for this, and really I want to see if the fish will hit a bait presented like that more readily then my standard presentations, if they do I can dedicate a rod to it. I could rig it without the swivel too right? Was thinking I could use one of those rubber T stops on a bead to hold it in place and then I only have one tie on the rig. Don't you hit it right away? I have always been in the camp of it hit when you feel it. I would rather miss a fish than gut hook it. I have never given a fish slack when I felt a bite, and it seems to work out pretty good for me.
  8. I have been at this point many times, and while I have a presentation or two that I am guessing nobody or very few throw on these lakes at certain cover situations, I like to have options especially if I spend a few days on the same body of water. I have been known to try some off the wall stuff, most fail, but when it works it is a lot of fun.
  9. Like all the bait options, especially grubs which I have a ton of. Makes me realize it isn't just a finesse presentation. Also been building up my stock of Zman stuff, so that is an option. Will just have to keep myself from chopping all the baits in half to be Ned rigged. Wonder if a TRD or 1/2 Zinker on a short light wire hook would work? A C-Ned-rig?
  10. I think in all my years of fishing I tossed this one day for an hour and blanked. But thinking back on some bites, season is closed not much else to do, I could see where a bait rigged that way could trigger neutral to negative bass especially on cold mornings. Plus Bassmaster had an article on making your own C rig shortcuts and I had some piano wire in the shop. The where? I have always heard deep weed lines, but I fish reeds a lot and those bass are finicky unless you show them something they don't see often. Thinking the C rig would would be a great presentation for those fish. Baits to use? If I fished in reeds, would use the normal baits like tubes, finesse worms, and swim senkos, probably missing some. What else do you all toss and does it depend on the structure and cover you are tossing it too.
  11. Berkley power wigglers, I have been using them for years for gills. Usually I use them on a small hooked jig under a bobber.
  12. The board was meant as stiff as a board, when I did some tests the tail barely moved on the pig. Will be curious to see the quality of this bait and the tail action.
  13. Managed to pick up 5 bags of power bait for 15 bucks. After the 10 buck rebate it will run me 5 for 5, pretty sweet deal.
  14. If I keep up the fishing pace I am at probably 10 years, if I slow down who knows. Problem I have is that I have too many of certain styles that I really don't use much. A majority of my fishing is a tube, grub, Crawbug, or Ned rig for smallies. Finesse worms and creature baits not used so much there. Have had 3 packs of roboworms for 4 years that have never seen water lol One thing I am going to try this year is zoom zdrops and a similar jackall bait rigged Ned style to use them up.
  15. It is strange, here is the video of the bait, under 400 views in a week. They are talking about it on FB but that really appears to be about it.
  16. Does anyone have any info on these? Their pics and video make them look pretty sweet. If they price them like their other baits and the tail isn't a board like the havoc grass pig, these things could be hot this summer. Curious when they will hit the shelves.
  17. For my money Kalins has the best tail action and grub color selection. Love Zman stuff, the grubs just aren't for me. Also with how and where I fish them, lose a lot, this is their only bait that is not economical for me.
  18. I had a 55 lb thrust 12 volt on my 16 ft alumacraft and best case on a week vacation I would have to charge it every other night and it struggled when the wind kicked up. I replaced it with an 80 lb 24 volt terrova and when the batteries were new I didn't have to charge it all week, now I charge it once or twice, but the batteries are close to being switched out. The trolling motor upgrade was one of my best for the boat
  19. We went the new boat route a few years back, instead of potentially buying someone else's money pit. To fit our budget we went with a 16ft alumacraft and couldn't be happier. I do agree that setting aside money for extras is important. Upgraded depth finders including on the bow, I had to bump up to an 80lb trolling motor along with an onboard charger. I did make a custom front deck giving up one seat position, but the boat fishes way better now, but might be a bit tight for some guys taste.
  20. I have talked with Santone and was told they if you go through them directly you should be able to get just the heads. I never did ask about price, because two of their colors worked well on my local lakes so I just stocked up on them. I would be curious though on what kind of deal they would give you on the heads.
  21. Yes they seem pretty nice, but I haven't fished them yet. I do really like the OutKast heads as well. So far though my favorite swim jig heads are the Santone, because they have a flat bottom that allows them to stand up ok, so I fish them like a standard jig too. Next year is my second year jig fishing so I am going to branch out and try some new stuff.
  22. BPS tender tubes are super soft and have lots of color options, but being soft not the most durable tube out their. A small company I tried last year, swing oil baits, has a J tube that is really durable and did well for me last year. It a bit bigger and and bulkier, than the old Trigger X tube I used to use that was discontinued. As far as durability goes I have always done well with strike king tubes.
  23. I really like your perch imitation, and the amount of orange in it. So many companies put too much orange in their perch imitations, when in reality most wild eating size perch really don't have a lot of orange. My next order will have a bunch of blue skirting material in it. Getting excited to toss some sapphire blue jigs this summer.
  24. River fishing = Yum Crawbug or Bandit 100 bounced off of rocks, which one depends on the time of year On the lake, I would have said a tube before last year, but by the end of the year I was always chucking a swim jig and caught fish both swimming it and bouncing it off bottom. The swim jig I use has a flat bottom head, so it stands up pretty well so it allows me to do double duty.
  25. I am not sure I would even try to anchor in waves on the lake I really want this for, it whips up pretty good and whitecaps have been the rule instead of the exception the last few years. It just seems windier overall now for some reason.
