  1. Yes, very good baits, my best brand by a mile. Very durable, the only one I ever broke was one I bounced off a railing on the back cast while shore fishing. I still caught 4 fish on it with it all cracked and taking on water. The 100 does have a bit more subltle action, but seems to do well when fish are both inactive and active.
  2. I really have had good luck with the nanofil. I use either that or fireline, both have been very solid for me. I do use a double palomar knot with the nanofil. I fished it for a year in a shallow rocky River and it held up very well, only broke when I expected it too, no bad failures. I agree about the gliss reviews, they are keeping me from buying it right now.
  3. The Ned is a big fish bait fished in the right spots and a numbers bait everywhere. Now that I think about it, there is a spot where I see Muskie busting big schools of baitfish the size of the Ned, with a bigger hook and a leader I got a shot, will have to try it this summer. River fishing I have caught many large smallies with it and trout over 20". It really is just a match the hatch bait for smaller baitfish which all fish eat.
  4. Pretty sure it is this. http://t.basspro.com/Berkley-Saltwater-PowerBait-Mullet/product/59444/ I look at the saltwater catalogs each year for crossover baits and different colors offered in some cranks.
  5. Rigged it up last night, swim jig with an anglers choice killshot, now I just have to wait till the first full weekend in May to throw it. 2nd will be a Bill Lewis echo that was kind to me on the last opener.
  6. Strike king, bought a bunch at good prices at Wally World and I guess I don't toss them enough to force me to put the on a TW order for more or other brands. I have had the most luck with the bleeding bait line.
  7. I am guilty too I have a big box of swim senkos that originally my wife got me on a vacation and they worked great for frontal bass. I then shopped sales and with some patience I was able to fill out my box with the colors I wanted. It has been easier though with cranks to stay cheap than soft plastics.
  8. Far and away my best crankbait. The 100 is perfect for fishing rivers with heavy current has a really subtle action on lakes. The Flat maxx is a really good bait too if you want to try out more bandit baits.
  9. I have fished both, mostly the newer ones and can't really say that I could tell a difference catch rate wise. They have all caught fish, if anything I have a really early chrome one with the mustad hooks and the finish is pretty sketchy. If they are a good price though I would snag them, I just picked up, 24 more from Cabela's for 3 bucks a bait.
  10. I pretty much use only slider heads, but do have some of those rugby heads to try. Have never tried the internal heads with tubes. The head out front has caught so many fish for me in all conditions that for me any other rig isn't needed. I do have a tube rigged up stupid to try this year, but expect to be back to what has crushed it for me.
  11. The Ned caught my first 20" river Smallie this year along with a trout over 20. Definately can be a big fish bait. Heck I have caught a 9" bass on a baby King Shad, still not sure how he got his mouth around the hook lol. I guess without knowing it I have been doing this for years, the zoom lizard has worked well for me too along with 4" ribbon tails. You can't go wrong with 3-5" grubs either, I am convinced that the tail makes them fish way bigger than they actually are, all the big pike and musky strikes validate this for me.
  12. Single tail grub, but not sure if soft plastics go back far enough to be classics also wanted to toss in the shad rap, still one of the best Shad style baits out there.
  13. Sorry I thought you were one of the Keitech or bust crowd. I am trying not to give in on buying higher priced baits so companies don't start to price gouge even worse because they know some will pay. I would love to keep it cheap so all can fish, and it is easy for kids to get into without breaking the bank or their parent(s) telling them it is too expensive, which then we all lose because the next generation of anglers is doing something else instead of fishing. I have seen this with golf and also with fly fishing where nobody wants to pay the price to play and participation is down, especially golf right now. I will give the grass pig a try this spring, I may have to pick up a color other than pink to give it a fair chance. Also the test I did was in a tub, so it probably wasn't enough room to see the the action of the bait.
  14. But you do throw the Keitechs right? I just want to get my hands on this one to see if it is a bait that can be slow rolled and get some kick yet at a decent price point. When I tested baits the grass pig was a joke in my opinion, and even the swimming fluke took a decent pull to get the tail kicking. I did not test the Keitechs, but from what you guys have said they can be pulled slow but are fragile so I have stayed away from them. What I want in a swimbait is something that can be pulled as slow as a kalins grub and get some tail kick and be as durable as that grub. Same price per bait as the 5" grass pig.
  15. The 5" Kalins crushed it last year. Will have a bunch of bootails this year to try, smash tech, dippers, shockwaves, the new pulse soon and some swimming flukes. Will be curious to see if the grub is back on the jig by the end of the season. Some testing also showed the swim senko to have a ridiculous amount of action, I am thinking that this would be a great dingy water bait with all the water it pushes. The only concern I would have is keeping the musky off the bait.
  16. Not sure why no one wants to talk about or excited to see this bait, but it is on the TW site now for 3.99 for an 8 pack of 4.5" baits. Their date to have them in stock is May 11. I am hoping local shops get them sooner which fits better with the release date I got from Yum. It looks good, can't wait to try it, awesome price point.
  17. I have no idea what the rate is, but I asked at the place I recycle my cans and they took lead too. I would guess that othe metal recyclers would also take lead.
  18. One of my best river Smallie baits was a chartreuse with silver flake 4.5" ribbon tail worm. I have also used yellow Bass Assasin baits for smallies. This was in dirtier water. I have read that smallies like these off the wall colors, but when I hit clear water lakes I chase largemouth so I really haven't tried these colors for clear water fish.
  19. So if I already have a 130 and the big one for Musky, is it worth it to get the smaller one for calmer days and the overall smaller size of WI bass? I know small fish will hit a bigger lure, but that isn't a numbers game, also some times of the year the smaller size would match the forage better. Or just stick with what I have and spend my money on something else? Really haven't read from anyone that the 90 sticks at least some fish, just the downfalls of the bait.
  20. I have used the Turbo shad over the years for smallies and did well with it. I did find though when I tank tested them they needed a little more speed to get the tail working than a skinny dipper, but I think that also gave it a more subtle kick with the slightly stiffer tail.
  21. Thanks for the replies, sounds like I will do pretty well with them. Will probably see more time on the river where vegatation isn't an issue and early season lakes before the weeds take over and even weedless ballheads come back slimed up.
  22. This is a what's old is new lure for me. Apparently a long time ago I bought some but never used them. I tossed them in a box of stuff to try this year, what can I expect? Going to try them both on the river and in green and clear water lakes. Was going to rig them on a jig head and see how if goes.
  23. Charlie Brewers slider site. I have been using their slider jigs for years. Not for everyone, but they work well for Wisconsin bass.
  24. Not 100 percent sure if this is a nationwide deal, but I emptied the shelves at our local Cabela's of the 3 buck 100 series. Not all were on sale, just certain colors. With the recent price increase this was a nice way to double my Bandit stash they did have some 200 and 300 series and footloose for that price too.
  25. This bait is not good at all in rocks. It definately sticks fish, but also found it wedged in rocks too easily. It will always have a special place in my box though, as it landed my first Crankbait bass almost twenty years ago. Will never forget the take, was fishing from a dock burning the bait and saw a largemouth shoot out from under the dock and just crushed if going the opposite way. Still the most violent hit I have ever had.
