  1. By budget, I mean buying a low cost reel, and getting it to a point where it competes with high end reels ($175+)
  2. Chronarch is Made in Japan. Good enough reason for me haha
  3. What would a good, inexpensive reel platform be for upgrading? (I did a quick search on this and couldn't find anything) I was thinking, if you buy a used reel like a Citica E, then service it, and then say replace the bearings with Abec 7's, replace the handle with a carbon handle, replace the drag with Carbontex, etc. What would you end up with? What do you guys think? Would this get you more bang for your buck than say a new tatula?
  4. Aww I tried buying it, but it got sold a couple weeks ago but they didn't delete the listing, got my hopes all up!
  5. Be cautious with sub $130 Lews, had some bad experiences personally with them. I'd recommend a Shimano or Daiwa reel, you really cant go wrong there.
  6. ... this reel is becoming very attractive now...
  7. Hmm... maybe there are comparable reels for around $120? maybe even used?
  8. Anyone have issues with the line capacity? Do you think I might? I never get past half a full spool of 12lb test mono on my Speed Spool if that gives you a reference , but I would like to use 30lb braid on the 50e.
  9. Is this reel any good for heavy applications such as frogging / flipping and pitching? I know its a finesse oriented reel, but its still a curado and I wonder if it would hold up to the task of heavy cover. I had a 200e7 I used for this a while back and absolutely loved it, but had to sell it, now they go for way too much for me lol
  10. I came across a Shimano Curado 50e for sale... heres the catch, for $120. Is this a good deal? Its in very good condition from a very trusted seller I know. (its not on ebay in-case you are wondering) It even has the box and papers! I just want to know if its a good idea to pick this up for $120. Thanks
  11. I want to hear about this tatula chatter everywhere recently, keep us updated! I am considering one myself
  12. Nope! No microguides! Good ol' tough stuff!
  13. I recently got a Abu Garcia 7ft medium power, fast action, Veritas 1.0 series on sale for $60 at bps, what would you guys use this for? I have heard that a Veritas in medium is more of a medium-heavy. Thanks in advance!
  14. I'm going to check my P.O. box monday to see if its here, if its not I'll give them a call when they're open. Oh, and it is a replacement spool, not only did I need a new spool, but I now had to repair one of the threads on the sideplate with JB Weld because the threads for the screw behind the spool bit the dust... Lets hope once the reel is acting good, it stays that way In case anyone happens to wonder how to fix the threads, apparently JB Weld works, seems to work as a thread replacement. (I can unscrew the screw too! its not stuck to the sideplate!) (it was a flea-bay buy, so thats why it is in such bad condition)
  15. They replied to my email saying to call them lol (I don't have access to a phone until they are closed LOL) I guess you could say, "I Lew's"
  16. Ah I couldn't really tell lol
  17. Huddleston.
  18. Might try posting it in BR's flea market, it probably won't get much attention on this thread
  19. Here ya go, its on sale right now so I'd buy it asap, but I have used one of these and they are actually a really good deal for the price! http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Tourney-Special-Casting-Rod/product/2241080/ I would get a 6' 6" Medium or a 7' 0" Medium, That should do you good for a while! I use a 7' 0" Abu Veritas 1.0 Medium for cranking and it is a superb rod for $100, I got it on sale for $60, so you should check around for sales.
  20. Yeah I tried calling them but their offices were closed. Figured I'd ask here in the mean time. Its been about 8 business days so far.
  21. How long did it take for anyone here to receive parts from Lews? I paid for a part from them on June 3rd, and it hasn't arrived yet (June 15th). I emailed them and am waiting for an answer, just looking to see if anyone noticed long-ish shipping times with their orders.
  22. Update: went out today and caught 3 chunks in a row at this pond! The shocker is that I caught them on a Red Craw Speed Trap crank... the last lure that I didn't try yet haha! I think I should be able to catch them there now.
  23. Does this count? shhs, it was taken with my phone!
  24. Hey BR! I have all these little lures that I cant throw with my heavy duty casting gear, so I need to get a better spinning setup. I want a tough rod and reel that will do me good for a few seasons. Heres what I want: I want a 6' 6" or 6' 0" M or ML rod. A decent, but affordable Spinning reel. I was thinking Lews or Garcia. My budget is about $60 for everything. Thanks!
