  1. A very strong magnet on some line would probably work. I put a magnet next to my phone and it didnt break anything, and I found this https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6574492?start=0&tstart=0 I dont know how much ferrous metal is in the iphone 7, but it might be enough. If the water is clear, pool net? dont take my word on this. Not saying it wont break anything. Does it show up on a fishfinder? if it does, take a quick dive to it as others have mentioned.
  2. I'm a bank fisherman, and all the fish hang out on the side where you would need to cast into the wind. Brave it out if the fish are there, I'm in the CA Bay Area, so we have some nasty winds almost all the time. "Turn them brakes up, tie on a lipless, and SWING!"
  3. Danggg! Thats quite the 50 collection you have there!
  4. Shimano and Daiwa. I had a Lews SS1H (standard speed spool, old model). within a month, the worm gear went out, the gears felt like they had sand in them (even after regreasing), the paint kept chipping off, and to top it off, the spool bearing shattered. (I then tried replacing it and broke the spool pin off inside the shaft, I ordered a new spool from Lews, which never arrived. I then called them back, they told me they would send me another one, which didnt show up. I'm 99.9% sure they have the right address. I ended up filing a chargeback with my bank after they quit responding to my emails, and would tell me they would call me back) Bit of a long speel, and take that with a grain of salt. I'm sure Lews make a fine reel, but the one I received definitely wasnt it.
  5. Happiest I've been with any reel
  6. Ah, I was thinking it would be the drag and gears or something, too tired to think straight aha
  7. Recently I was faced with the challenge of picking out a new general-use casting reel. 2 brands came to mind; Daiwa, with their new Tatula CT, and Shimano, with their Curado 200i. Both are great companies who make great products, so it was almost impossible to go wrong. I picked the Curado 200i because of Shimanos excellent reputation in the Curado line of reels. Although the Curado "G" Series was just a Caenan dressed up in a less-flashy (arguably, rather ugly) olive paint job. However, the Curado "E" is still one of the most bombproof reels out there. I got the 6.3:1 for use as an all-purpose reel. First Impressions: While unboxing the Curado 200i, there was one thing that really stood out. The paint job. The 2-tone paint job on this reel is really something. While handling the reel for the first time and spooling it up, I noticed that the reel never seemed to feel too geary, this seems to be thanks to Shimanos X-Ship. Essentially, the pinion gear that the spool shaft passes through is kept in near-perfect alignment with the main gear due to having 2 bearings supporting each end. The aluminum drag star is also a nice touch. On the water: After spooling the reel up with some generic 15 pound mono and heading to the pond, I was able to get some usage in on the Curado. A good thing to make mention of is the new braking system. SVS Infinity is a great braking system - but it takes some getting used to. After having a close call with a trip-ruining backlash, I turned the brakes up to 2 pins set to on, and setting the external dial to 4. This solved the entire backlash problem, and I was surprised to see how far this reel could throw a square-bill crankbait into a little wind with little effort. I recommend turning the brakes higher than you would think is nessecary when using a SVS equipped reel for the first time. Another thing I really liked was how strong the reel feels compared to Curados of the past, this thing feels solid! Update: 1 Week of usage. No fish landed! ): The reel feels MUCH smoother and casts a good 10' further after a good break-in fishing heavy baits, such as big spinners, smaller swimbaits, big chatterbaits, and some cranks. I did have a chance to fight a 5-ish pound LMB on it, I didnt get to land it, but the drag feels superior to any stock reel I have used. X-Ship also makes a pretty big difference when theres a fish on. (Including the Curado 200e7) I did have to oil the SVS brakes every couple trips. I usually run them with 2 pins on and the dial set to 6, we get some pretty crazy winds almost always here in the San Francisco/bay area. The fish here arent biting anything except live craws, which I dont use. So after spawn, (couple weeks) I should be able to get a good amount of fish on it. Stay tuned for an update!
  8. Tatula CT. I'm sure I'm going to make a few people mad, but personally, I think revos are garbage (compared to other brands)
  9. You used 2 greases together?
  10. I use a Abu Veritas (1.0) 7' Medium Power, Fast action. I love it for bouncing squarebills off of rubble/stumps, Very sensitive and I havent confused a stump for a fish on it yet.
  11. assuming you're talking about the go-kart one lol Anyways my friend caught this on a Shakespeare trout combo he got for $20 (close to ultralight, it was the coolest fight I've ever seen, took like 15 minutes of tug-of-war) It weighed in around 20. Combo handled it no problem...
  12. Haha my mom doesnt understand why I buy and sell reels all the time... Neither do I...
  13. Also you may want to check this out http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/demoprogram.html You might be able to demo the Curado 70 to see if it would work.
  14. found this online, curado 70 looks like it would work perfect. (I have a 200i, which feels very small to me)
  15. Tatula CT is no joke. Awesome reel. I had a Lew's speed spool last year, it's in the landfill somewhere now.
  16. Reminds me of that time flair told that dude "you don't own the water, bro!"
  17. Honestly this probably sounds pretty weird, but I use a Abu Garcia Veritas (7' Medium) for all of those applications... Only problem is it doesnt have cork grips. I love this rod
  18. I'm leaning the Boca route, I love casting distance. Has anyone put Boca Oranges in their 200i?
  19. Somebody get this man a discount! Honestly building a rod might be fun too, if you're inclined in that type of stuff. Otherwise, the orichi would be fine.
  20. It would have to be Shimano. They've been the best for me. They may not be the smoothest, they may not be the coolest, but you know what, there is one thing they do REALLY well, Work. This is actually something that makes me a little mad lol, I couldnt find any excuse other than life expenses to get rid of my Chronarch 100A.
  21. Yeah been using it a lot, super happy with it. But of course I'm never "happy" with something, always want to upgrade it! xD Drag feels smooth enough, but everyone is ranting about how awesome carbontex is, so I was wondering if there was any notable difference.
  22. Clear nail polish, clearcoat touchup from a auto store, etc. Woah! your profile picture is awesome!
  23. Just got my Curado 200i in and I realized it has "Cross Carbon" Drag washers from Shimano. Does this mean a Carbontex upgrade isnt worth it? From what I can tell "Cross Carbon" and Carbontex are the same thing. I still saw a few people recommend a carbontex upgrade for the 200i, Am I missing something?
  24. Just got the Curado in, absolutely love it. Svs takes a little getting used to, but it's amazing when you do figure it out.
  25. Thats what I do nowadays, I dont mind a few scratches, but you know, hitting a rod on rocks on purpose is kindaaaa fun That and when a random 10 year old walks up to you on the bank and asks like 400 questions about fishing (including if he can use your rod), letting em use a cheaper one is cool. I'd hate to be the guy who told the kid interested in fishing he cant use a rod of mine for a bit. (not like a random kid would know how to use a cheap baitcaster right off the bat)
