  1. The Ned is my go to when I'm just fishing to fish. I'm looking to go wade fish for smallies soon and can't imagine doing so without this setup.
  2. I bought my first frog yesterday for $1.96 at Wally World, it's a Snag Proof in green with the solid legs. Would that be Finessey or is that more of the standard size? I'm looking at spooling a Black Max 3 LH with 20/6 PP and tossing it on a 6' M Garcia rod...whatcha think?
  3. Spring: jerkbaits, lip less baits, swim jigs, soft swimbaits Summer: soft swimbaits, jigs, topwater Fall: topwater, jerkbaits, lip less baits, swim jigs Winter, wacky rigs, jigs
  4. Okie Shad is a good color for smallies. It has some blue, pink and chartreuse in it.
  5. On the Gasconade, for wading water, you've gotta head way upstream, but you've got better water close, Meremec system for one. You can float most of the Gasconade most of the year, but for scenery and fish, think about Big Piney or the Huzzah/Courtois.
  6. If you need to rehome that Berkley, let me know. Pistol grips are my bread and butter.
  7. Chompers makes a stand up weedless head with a longish plastic weedguard that I have used and like quite well.
  8. Braid:Power Pro yellow Mono:CXX Fluoro:Red Label (leaders for the braid when necessary.)
  9. I like the X-80, but have never used a 110. I own X-Raps, Rogues and Twitch Sticks right now. I will be buying more MB/LC jerks and others.
  10. Walk the dog baits, soft Craw, KVD 1.0. They all work.
  11. I'd toss swim jigs during the day, bump the stumps with a buzzbait or square bill. In the mornings, fish the flats with a spook or maybe a fluke.

Swim Jigs have accounted for probably a third of my bass this year, bluegill color, swam along the outside edges of weed beds from shore.
  13. Thanks fellas!
  14. Pay DVT to rebuild your current reel. If you're not capable of doing it, sell the reel for parts ($20 or so) or get it serviced. Those Smoke reels are damned nice reels. My question is why did you disassemble it? Was it grinding, binding or something else?
  15. Wow, tough question, but let me give it a go. 1. Red Eye Shad-chrome/blue 2. LC Gunfish 95-chartreuse shad 3. KVD 1.0-sexy shad 4. (Space for hire) 5. (Space for hire)
  16. I've only ever caught one bass on a fluke and that was on accident. What do I need to know regarding techniques, tackle, location, etc? I'll likely toss a Super Fluke on a 4/0 EWG weightless on my 6' M Fish Eagle with 15/4 PP yellow and 8lb fluoro leader. How does one fish a fluke?
  17. Revo S here, can be had on the bay for $99.
  18. Swim trunks, tank top and the strap up sandals with the cloth/velcro deallies. I love this set up in summer.
  19. I just don't want to go so small where I'm catching all the sunfish in the river before the smallies get to it. I'd assume the 4" will be great in late summer/early fall on the Elk system. I'd steer clear of the Chunk Craw for jig head use, but they're great as a trailer.
  20. I went on my first float last weekend and tried a Keitech S.I. 4" repeatedly on 8lb CXX and it wasn't until the mid to late afternoon until I got some action on it. I cast it parallel to logs in and just off the current. I caught one smallie and two largemouth on it. Did I miss anything or should I start stocking up on the S.I. Fat 3.8" to attract more fish? The rest of the day, I caught probably 30 bass, one spot, 2 largemouth and the rest smallies on a Chompers 1/8oz stand up head with a soft craw, either a Jackall Chunk Craw or Zoom UV Speed Craw. I noticed that the Jackall had more short strikes with the elongated appendages. Also, the Jackall was way more fragile.
  21. Straight grips on my spinning rods and pistol grip casting rods. I am simply comfortable this way.
  22. Abu Revo S is my choice. I could also add the 6.8:1 Lew's LFS.
  23. Honestly, I'm fond of the Pitch Centrifugal system on the Revo S. It is a set it and forget it deal, just adjust spool tension.
  24. I tend to rig the Pit Boss Jr on an 1/8oz Luck E Strike Perfect Finesse Worm hook. It slips in the shoreline weeds easily and the bass just annihilate it.
  25. I prefer 6' and under, normally 5'6" casting rods. I am more accurate with them and I just haven't bought into the "longer is better" nonsense. Give me a good, smooth reel on a 5'6" M casting rod with a Gunfish 95 or 1/8oz swim bait hook and Keitech Swing Impact 4" and I'm a happy camper for a day on the creek.
