  1. I prefer the short sticks for wading as I am a man of shorter stature and it is easier to control. I currently have two cheap sticks, but was hoping for some guidance to a few higher end models.
  2. I am looking to upgrade my wading rod. I like a 5'6" ML/M casting rod with either a short straight handle or a pistol grip. I fish with 10# P-Line CX Premium and toss baits from 1/8oz heads and grubs to 1/2oz wtd baits. What would you recommend?
  3. The bad thing is that most of the lakes in this area almost have to be fished from a boat. I like Douglas County from shore.
  4. I just broke 18" two weeks ago on an underrated creek in Missouri, measured the spawned out girl and turned her loose! Where the heck are you all finding these horses up north? Do you have pictures of the water you are fishing?
  5. Falcon makes their Original series from 4'6" to 6'6" for under $90.
  6. Dave I must say that the weedless heads have changed the game for me. You know some of the muck we deal with in eastern Kansas, and they continue to work out perfectly for me. I need to get it on moving water soon to see if it is as good as in lakes.
  7. Shockwave, you do not have to toss the Shroomz heads. Any 1/16-1/8 heads will work.
  8. These are my thoghts as well.
  9. Guys, thank you, lots of food for thought.
  10. I have a 5'6" M rod from Academy Sports with 10lb P-Line CX Premium.
  11. I am considering a few Keitech Impact 3.5 swimbaits and was wondering what your preferred tackle and retrieve method is.
  12. You are exactly right. For some reason, perhaps the relative infertility of the streams, the top end size is anywhere from 19"-22".
  13. Try them and you will like them. Yes, it is that simple.
  14. I like the Midwest Finesse philosophy and have begun using it with success this year. I just caught seven in an hour and lost five on a weedless Ned Rig. Give it a try.
  15. You might get bit using crankbaits, but most likely you can use a walk the dog like a Sammy 100, Sexy Dawg Jr, Zip N Ziggy or a Super Spook Jr. Also, soft plastics on 1/8oz heads will work well. I prefer baits like a Sweet Beaver, Ultravibe Speed Craw, Turbo Crawz or other similar baits. Have fun!
  16. Have her use the Ned Rig. It is fool proof and she will catch bass.
  17. P-Line CX Premium is fantastic!
  18. What is your favorite rod and reel setup, length, power, line, etc?
  19. In Kansas, the wind always blows, so forecast winds aren't paid attention to.
  20. I'm having a hard time seeing my green PP for tossing jigs, so I am going to purchase some yellow 15/4 for the spinning rod and see if that helps. The leader is Seaguar 8lb.
  21. Well, it is a Pflueger, made in China. If that turns you off and causes you to spend more for the same performance, that is your decision. They are awesome reels, especially for $60.
  22. I have taken to using a weedless Ned Rig from shore lately with 15/4PP and a Seaguar 8lb leader. The results have been five bass in an hour or so fishing the last few days.
  23. Ned Rig, green pumpkin and orange on a 1/16 weedless button head jig.
  24. Pflueger President, save $90.
  25. I spent yesterday fishing in spurts. I started with my daughter at Lone Star. She wanted to find shells on the shore, so I fished for about a half hour and caught two bass on the Ned. Later, I went to Douglas County and caught one in a half hour. Here is the larger one from Lone Star.
