  1. I don't currently have one, but SenkoGuru could probably tell you. I have one coming after the warranty goes through. Will let you know how it works.
  2. Ethanol ruins all small engines. It rust the interior and breaks the carburetor. I only use non ethanol gas in small engines and ALWAYS put Stabil, it works wonders.
  3. I totally agree. Duckett is covering the cost of a new rod and saving me the cost of shipping my rod to them only for the cost of return shipping (and shipping the serial number piece of the rod, but that only costed $2.50) though. Even if you look at St. Croix, who has on of the best customer service reps around charge shipping of $15 to them and $20 return shipping to repair your rod. I have seen those fees waived before on this forum though when it was a manufacturers defect.
  4. I did keep the replacement tip though since that was sent to me under warranty.
  5. I threw the rest of the rod away. I started thinking about it and thought that it would be dishonest to use the rod since the company does not require yot to ship the entire rod, which saves me money be not shipping a larger package, to them to stop you from doing this, and since they are repairing it for just shipping cost I did not want to cheat the company.

  7. Great link. Thanks.
  8. How can you use a blank for a repair?
  9. I cut out the serial number section of my Duckett for warranty. Is any parts of the rod salvageable or should I just throw it away?
  10. I only use mono, but it works great. The tip eye got chipped on mine and it began to shred the string, but that might happen with regular eyes too.
  11. I don't build my own rods, but could start if the salvageable parts are quality. I hate wasting parts. I about had a heart attack making the first cut on the rod with a hack saw.
  12. Are there any parts that I should salvage off of the rod?
  13. Just went to the post office to send warranty submission and got there 15 minutes before closing. The doors were locked and the post man just waved through the window. I'm glad I pay taxes! With customer service like that I'll be using them again for sure (I have to).
  14. Just contacted Duckett again and was told that they would only charge $20 shipping to replace it because it was a manufacturer defect. He was extremely helpful. I guess I caught someone on a bad day. Mike at DVT helped me fix my rod which was a great help, but I think I am going to have to accept this offer while I can.
  15. Oh, O.K. I like that then because when I put the rod butt down on the boat to unhook a fish it gets dented. I am going to try and contact Duckett again. I might have just got a bad CS rep that day.
  16. I like all of the updates, except the EVA grips. How come they changed them from cork? I am not against EVA, but I like the way cork looks. Do yo prefer the EVA grips? I also bow hunt for deer, but not hogs. I am glad we have no hogs on our land.
  17. When was this? Did they make you pay S&H or other fees?
  18. SenkoGuru, do you have a Micro Magic Pro? Would it be worth the $40 +S&H for the upgrade? By the way above your avatar you state flip a jig, stick a pig. Does this refer only to jig & pig rigging or do you bow hunt for pigs there in LA?
  19. I did not know that. That makes more since why they wanted $40 extra dollars for a new rod. I still think I should be grandfathered in, but it does make more since.
  20. I did not take your last comment bad whatsoever. Never crossed my mind. I was in complete agreement with no misunderstanding. I was just saying that if you thought I had ought to pay for the replacement I could afford it, but letting you know why I had not yet. I have the original Micro Magic. Is that the same as the Micro Magic Pro?
  21. I can afford a lot, I have several jobs, (I do own a Duckett), but adding $60 onto the original $160 is causing it to be quite an expensive rod, getting close to a G.Loomis. When did you get yours replaced. Maybe they have changed.
  22. No wonder you like them. I LOVED the way they felt, but it was so much to get fixed. I am a college student and could not afford it. I have only used the rod of probably a grand total of 18 hours, though I have had it over a year, finding someone with a boat is tough. The tip broke and the reel seat twisted. I am VERY careful with my rod, and even use a rod cover, lay it only on a flat surface away from vents and windows, and never lay it on a hard surface. I think it was a defected rod, and that is why I thought they should replace it for cheaper.
  23. I have never replaced the rod, just the tip. I never sent this rod in, I only called to get a quote. Do you still think I should get it replaced? I filled the void with epoxy so it does not twist any more. If I need to replace it, all they want is the about 4" with the serial number and logo +$60.
  24. I did get more respect over email. This way I was told that they would repair (not replace, but I am fine with that.) for $20, but I had to pay shipping to them which, according to the rep, would cost $25. What experiences have you had with them SenkoGuru?
