  1. 99% of the time I'm throwing a Strike King Menace grub on the back. Other then that it would be a Zoom Z-Craw Jr. or a Paca Chunk. I don't think I've ever used a paddle tail as a trailer yet....lol. I already have a FR735C which is my frog rod. Maybe add another....lol.
  2. Been thinking alot lately of getting a new swim jig rod. I have a few already in mind, just having a hard time deciding. I'm looking at the Dobyns Fury fr734c, Duckett Ghost 7'3" in either Heavy or Medium Heavy, and the Lews American Hero 7' MH. Mainly gonna be throwing 3/8 swim jigs and occasionally worms.
  3. Looking for a rod for my heavier topwaters like a Spro Rat 40 and Whopper Plopper 130. What kind of action and taper should I be looking for? Dont want a swimbait rod though. Wouldnt mind something that could serve another purpose as well. Thanks.
  4. Anybody notice any advantage in having a chartreuse tail on green pumpkin Senko/Trick Worm/ Finesse Worm style soft plastics?
  5. Where is the best place to purchase the Dobyns rods online??
  6. Didn't happen to hold a 765 did you? Just wondering if it's gonna be heavy enough for heavy grass and slop beings it's a medium heavy.
  7. I'm def gonna get a 735C. Thinking about getting a 765 as well for plain flipping. Not sure if the fact that it's a medium/heavy will hold up to heavy grass and slop flipping.
  8. Looking for suggestions or guidance on a rod for flipping, pitching, punching, and the occasional frog or small swimbait. Not sure of length or power either. I'd like to keep it around $100 but might be willing to go up to $160. So far my list includes: Duckett Ghost or Terex Dobyns Fury(Only problem is nobody around here carries Dobyns for me to hold and examine) IRod Fiber Series Okuma TCS Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  9. I'll probably just end up buying some tungsten weights and be done with it.
  10. I'm kinda down to three rods now. The Duckett Terex 7'4" Heavy, Dobyns Fury 735c, and the Dobyns 765c. Only problem with the Dobyns rods is that nowhere around here can I hold one and see if I like it. That's the downfall. I can pickup a duckett at a few places. Hate to buy a dobyns sight unseen.
  11. As the title says. Best and cheapest place to get punching weights. Any brands to stay away from? Thanks.
  12. Looking to get a bigger, heavier rod for flipping, punching, and froggin. Really looking at the ghost series by Duckett but they don't have them labeled for use of weight. I like the price point of the Ghost series. Under $100. Thanks.
  13. I'm planning on putting some kind of insert in the egg dinner to keep from having line issues. I'm also planning on pegging them.
  14. That's what I'm thinking. I don't flip, pitch, or punch much so if rather not spend the money on stuff I won't use much.
  15. Anyone ever try punching grass mats and Lily pads with egg sinkers? I have a whole mess of them and I'm thinking about trying them. If rather use them up then spend the money on Tungsten. Thanks.
  16. I hear ya! I have a few that have slight wear on them but they never really get torn up. Guess I need to catch bigger bass....lol. My Live Target Field Mice on the other hand have been torn to shreds! Can't keep the bass off of them and they are a lot softer than my frogs.
  17. Unfortunately don't have any frogs to retire or I would just do that. Might just have to wait till I do.
  18. I have spare Gamakatsu frog hooks. Just need the line tie thingy's. Can't find them or what they are called anywhere.
  19. Anybody know what the piece is called on a Spro frog that you tie to and the hook is on? Managed to loose the hook and line tie thingy to one of my frogs today to a branch. Can't find anything about them. Thanks!
  20. Haven't had any issues with mine at all and a few of them are going on 2 and 3 years. Taking care of things and the proper maintenance can go a long way.
  21. Never used the rods but I have 4 of the tourney special baitcasters. Great reels for a great price.
  22. Still haven't pulled the trigger on anything yet. Still deciding. Not a big fan of the Pflueger President. Not really concinvinced that I have to drop a ton of money on a reel either. I'm not a professional or an every single day fisherman. Kinda glanced at the Okuma Stratus V at Dicks. Good looking reel and definitely on my radar.
  23. Just picked up a 7 ft Medium Duckett Ghost yesterday. Gonna be used as my main Drop Shot/ Shakey Head setup. Looking for a reel to throw on it. Kinda thinking between the Lew's Laser G2 Speed Spin Spinning Reel High Speed or a Pflueger Trion. Kinda on a tight budget so the father under $70, the better.
  24. Had it happen a few times this morning. Unfortunately 1 of the bass didn't pull through. Not a proud moment. Most of them were hooked in the roof of the mouth. Anyone else ever have this problem. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or they were just really liking what they were seeing.
  25. I know some guys swear by dark blades for dark baits and some don't. Any suggestions and what paint do I use. Thanks!
