  1. Fish what you can afford or like regardless of what other people say or think. You know what the saying about opinions is....... When I started out fishing I could afford crap. Had zebco combos and could outfish tons of people using a simple ribbon tail worm. Now I can afford nicer stuff and more of it but to some people I still use lesser gear. I like it and it works for me.
  2. I used to only use 5:1 reels for crankbaits but I started using a 6:3 for my squarebills and lipless cranks. Now my 5:1 is only for my deep cranks. I've used a 7:3 for squarebills before and caught fish with it, but it felt way too fast to me. 6:3 feels perfect.
  3. Bigger hook means more for them to get a hold of.
  4. Yeah, seriously. Especially if the majority change out the hooks anyway.
  5. I'm with ya on that idea.
  6. What A-jay said although run #2's front and back.
  7. True, but you could be paying a hang of a lot more for another brand with the same crappy hooks. I've also never had a stock strike king hook break. I change them out for the short shanks cause I can go 1 size bigger and they are stronger.
  8. Just change out the stock hooks. No biggie. There are very few hardbaits that I don't change out the stock hooks for Mustad Triple Grips.
  9. I use Izorline XXX Super Co-Polymer Clear. Love the stuff. Great knot strength. Very little if any memory. I use it anywhere from 8lb for finesse to 20 for jigs and such. Excellent price as well.
  10. It's not letting me load the other picture. I'll try again later but it's between 12 11/16ths and 12 7/8 to the end of the butt.
  11. Ahahaha! I'll get you a pic and a measurement when I get home today.
  12. When 13 announced the new Envy Black 2's they did a giveaway on Facebook and Instagram. They gave away 13 of them and I was one of the lucky 13 chosen. I would never, ever pay $300 for a rod from any manufacturer.
  13. I've got one in 7'1"MH. Haven't fished with it yet but it looks nice and feels good.
  14. The majority of my rods are the white ones and no do more than well with them. I have a few other brands as well and I don't think I have one that hasn't caught a fish.
  15. Someone had mentioned that white rods were considered bad luck and a few old timers were superstitious to the point that white rods meant bad luck. Not pointing fingers at anyone directly.
  16. Y'all and your rod color theories and superstitions crack me up. Maybe it's just a comfort thing. I get liking certain colors and I'm partial as well to colors, but saying certain colors won't catch fish is crazy. A good fisherman can catch fish with anything. Just go with what you like, can afford, and fits your technique.
  17. I had one frogging rod that had micro guides. Never again. The issue wasn't with the braid but rather the grass and thick stuff getting stuck in the guides and jamming them up. Giant pain in the butt. Constant cleaning them out instead of casting. No thanks.
  18. You could try out One Three Fishing's F.ate C.hrome line. They have a 7'1"mh, 7'3"mh, and a 7'6"mh. Great rods for a great price. I have quite a few and find myself using them more than my Fury's.
  19. Still haven't bought a reel yet. Pulled the trigger in a Tatula CT for another rod and it looks and feels good. Might just buy another one for this rod or I might end up getting a Tatula SV. Been eyeing them up lately.
  20. I was trying to keep it reasonable. Ended up getting a Tatula CT off EBay for $73 new. Just got it yesterday. Feels and looks good. Hopefully I'll get to use it this weekend
  21. I've had my Kastking Skidaway's for about 2 weeks now and so far I'm very impressed. Comfortable and very light. Lense quality so far is great. Color and water visibility is spot on. So only time will tell if the lenses hold up but I think Kastking has a winner here!
  22. Any thoughts on this reel for frogging. Got a new frog rod and I'm thinking about getting one. Held one but never used one.
  23. I just received a pair of the Kastking's yesterday. Fit good, feel great, and look good. Haven't worn them out yet so only time will tell.
