Need to pick up a top water rod
They do fish lighter, and I contacted dobyns and they said a 734 would be a better choice.

Need to pick up a top water rod
I also have a 734 which would work also. My main issue is I have my cranking rod spooled with 12 lb flouro which is bad for topwaters and the the 734 has 15 lb flouro on it? Can I tie a mono leader to the flouro mainline on the 734? I’ve only tied flouro leader to braid. Do I run straight mono on the 734 since I generally use it for chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, and paddle tails? I currently throw the sexy dawg on a 735 but it seems like too much power for that bait.

Need to pick up a top water rod
Is a 705CB underpowered for a strike king sexy dawg? I think they weigh like 7/8 oz.

Shimano SLX vs. Lews Tournament MB
Seems like a “reel” close debate......Lews customer service would do it for me, and I love my MB’s.

Dedicated rods
I have a crankbait rod, lipless, squarebills and jerkbaits. I have a rod that I throw chatterbaits, swim jigs, and paddle tails. A rod for frogging, heavy topwater like whopper ploppers and sexy dawgs. A rod for various Texas rigged creatures sand larger worms. A dedicated Jig rod And an all around spinning rod for wacky/neko rigging, drop shots, and shakey heads. 6 Rods gets it done for me.

ALX IKOS or New Daiwa Tatula Rods
Actually notice a big difference in the balance of the two. Same reel on there fully spooled and the ikos wants to go tip down. Tatula is perfect. I’m not a huge “balance” guy though. I rarely get to fish all day long so balance is less important. I’ll take the backbone and sensitivity first always.

2018 Tatula Rods......
Figured I would give my first impressions on the new Tatula 7’1 Medium Heavy Extra Fast.....just came in the mail. Packaged very well by sportsman’s outfitters. Seems well built, definitely light. One guide was slightly bent down but no damage so hopefully that’s no biggie. The guides aren’t true micro guides in my opinion but they are smaller. I had a duckett micro magic pro and those guides were much smaller. Threw a Tatula CT on there and it balances nicely. Starting to think my CT on the ALX Ikos isn’t nearly as balanced. This combo makes the ALX look tip heavy. Seems just about as sensitive as the ALX, but I wouldn’t say the tip feels like an extra fast. Seems more like a fast which is fine really as long as the sensitivity is there. Hope I get some time out to fish this weekend so I can give some more thoughts. Tight lines!

Can anyone speak on how the new Tatulas rate as far as sensitivity?

New ones have full cork as well, I forgot to mention that.

2018 Tatula Rods......
Daiwa just came out with a new Tatula late last year. Not an XT. Same blank from what I hear but a different real seat and smaller guides. Sportsman’s outfitters btw.

2018 Tatula Rods......
Thanks for all the info guys. Just bought my first Tatula rod. The rest are AlX and Dobyns which I love, but I figured I needed to give the Tatula a chance and especially for $100!

2018 Tatula Rods......
Which casting rod? I’m looking at the 7’1 MH Extra fast for a Texas rig rod.

ALX IKOS or New Daiwa Tatula Rods
Yea I’m having a really hard time ignoring the $99 price point from Sportsman’s.

ALX IKOS or New Daiwa Tatula Rods
So are you saying that if guides were the same you would buy the Tatula? $100 sounds like a steal, but then again I really love the idea of giving my business to a company like ALX.

ALX IKOS or New Daiwa Tatula Rods
Tatula is $100 on Sportsman’s?!?! Wow that’s hard to pass up. Love ALX and already have an IKOS Promise 73 and love it. I’ve never owned a Tatula rod, but curiousity had me start this thread. I’m thinking about getting the 7’1 MH Extra fast Tatula or the Promise 7 from the IKOS line. All my other rods are split grip, so full cork would be an adjustment, but $100 is a steal!! I don’t tie a leader knot on my Texas rig set up so that’s a non issue. Would be pairing it with a Daiwa Tatula CT. Dang decisions. I think the price point is the kicker.

ALX IKOS or New Daiwa Tatula Rods
This would be a Texas rig rod. 1/4-1/2 oz weight with creature baits and magnum trick worms. Anyone have any thoughts on either stick?
