  1. FC Sniper or Seaguar InvizX both quality FC....Sniper a little less memory! My personnel opinion
  2. *** "*** Black" or Fenwick "HMG" like them both alot
  3. I have a 30 & 35 presidents! They have held up for about 5 years now with absolutely no issues! Like everyone has said on this forum, "Best bang for the buck!"
  4. I own a 7' M/F HMG & very happy with my purchase! I was looking at the HMX series because of the price point but the sales rep talk me into the HMG for $20.00 more because of the better warranty & a better rod over all! I'm sure for $65 you won't be disappointed with a Fenwick HMX rod
  5. *** - Black *** 7'1" M/F or 7'3" Fenwick - HMG 7' M/F St.Croix - Premier or Mojo 7' M/F All $100-$120....Good rods....my personnel preference for Northwest Ohio
  6. 12 # Sunline FC Sniper....Personnel preference! No issues so far
  7. 1st - Graphite Rods 2nd - Middle of the road reels 3rd - Good Hooks You'll be given good advice on this forum for sure but the bottom line will be your preference & confidence level you have with your equipment! Good luck & tight lines!
  8. Jig & Pig on the structure or Chatterbait w/ trailer!
  9. I don't think BPS does any repairs to rods! They'll probably will tell you to contact the manufacture for the repair. I've broken my fair share of rod tips & I've always have taken them to a local tackle shop to have them replace because some of the rod companies actually turn their rods in a type of lathe for several hours so that the epoxy around the eyelets are perfectly balance & symmetric with the blank! Netcraft (tackle shop) did that procedure on all my St.Croix rods for around $10- $13 depending on the the type of tip you want!
  10. I don't think any of those rods you listed are moderate rated. If you throw crankbaits, in-line spinners, & lip-less crankbaits you definitely want to invest in a moderate rod for those treble hook baits, along with a lower ratio reel (5:4.1 or 26 IPT or less). Other than that you have a nice arsenal of combos that cover most of the applications! Check out Pflueger's line of spinning reels if you want to upgrade that Sonora. I'm very happy with their spinning reels (President, Supreme, & XT's). My preference Good Luck!
  11. Just got to 2 trips in the last 2 weeks with my PQ....very pleased with it's performance! I use 6:4.1 specifically for spinnerbaits & chatterbaits. No issues & no birdnests! Spooled with 12# fluorocarbon. Don't own an Orra but considering the reveiws 900 to 150, I think you have a good idea
  12. Honestly....Their both good fluorocarbon lines! I'll have to agree with Mike.L. I give the edge to FC....a little less memory, more sensativity, & little less stretch than InvizX! I don't fish 6# test so I can't really compare the two lines for you in that diameter but I do fish 10# & 12# in both lines on my baitcasters. I use InvizX for my crankbaits, FC for single hook applications, & FC for all my leaders! If i'm not mistaken as you go up in FC # their diameters are a few thousands less than most fluorocarbon brands! Good luck
  13. ZX is a good rod for the money ($69) when on sale! Have the 7'1" Crankbait / Moderate...No complaints! The warranty on their rods are now just 1 year! I have one of their XML which use to be lifetime on that rod now (1 year) but you can purchase an extended warranty through Cabelas, I think it's a 1 or 2 year for additional cost! No questions ask!
  14. I agree with Crankenstien! Checkout the Lews line of reels! Great & easy to use reels
  15. Most avid fisherman already knows the pros & cons of every fishing line available on the market! Yes, ever line that has been manufactured has been tested to the extreme! Every fisherman has good & bad experiences with different lines but what it comes down to is "Personal Preference!" What works for one angler might not for the other! I personally love FC & use it on many applications but that's my opinion & preference! It works for me & as long as i'm landing fish that's all that matters
  16. Abu Garcia has 3 baitcaster combos all under $100....Pro Max, Silver Max, Black Max. I don't own 1 personally but have read good reveiws from other anglers on them! I think Lews makes a couple of combos for under a $100 as well Good Luck!
  17. Power Pro 15# & 20# & Super Slick hands down! The only down fall with Power Pro is that after many casts & many fighting fishes it has a tendency to fade a little bit, other than that great braid!
  18. Presidents hands down! FYI : I've seen a combo at Meijer with a 30 or 35 (reel) on a 7' Medium IM6 or IM7 (rod) for $79.99! Seem like a pretty good setup for the price point
  19. I agree with Dog Bone on the *** Black! Don't own any Veritas rods but I would like to throw in another suggestion Fenwick HMG ($100) - Little heavier than most rods but pretty good overall
  20. Use the shimano for the the time being....switch to braid with fluoro leader (less stretch) for the time being! If it's a high end Abu rod have a professional repair the tip! Don't fish without an insert!
  21. 15# or 20# = 4# mono or 6# mono....I recommend Sunline FC Sniper fluoro for a leader if finesse rigging! My go to
  22. I agree with ksschultz! Go with the Supreme reel (30,35,40) paired with *** Black 7'1" or 7'3" M/Fast - 3/16"oz to 5/8"oz....or....Fenwick HMG 7' M/Fast - 1/4"oz to 3/4"oz! You really can't go wrong with either! Those combos will cost the same as just a Stradic ci4 alone! I'm very pleased with both!
  23. Strike King, Powerbaits, & Zoom are my 3 favorite go to plastics! Never used scents or dyes on any of my plastics & they all produce very well! I totally agree with some of the guys : it's all about the angler's confidence!
