Advice on a good follow up...
I like to switch to a swim jig. You can slow it down like a regular jig or swim it like the chatterbait. It has potential to get hit since it is a much more quiet bait. I never use rattles its more of a stealth approach to me. The chatterbait will be the loud starter and the swim jig will be the silent clean up bait.

Some observations....
It all depends on their feelings on the day in my opinion. They will chase a swim jig or a spinner bait if they are feeling active. I have also had days that a drop shot is spectacular right next to the edge, but their are days that they will not move far enough to leave the mat to bite at all. I always start the outside edge first, because it is a faster approach to maximize the odds of catching fish in my limited time. I don't often work a frog on dense floating mats, but instead go straight to punching if the edges don't work. I havent had good hook ups on frogs in those situations.

Curado Bantam 200cu Help Needed
Thanks everyone for the for the responses. I resolved the issue tonight at the expense of a new bearing. I did a full tear down to see if I might have made an assembly error. I discovered the bearing in the side plate to be completely stuck. I bent picks trying to get that sucker out. I did succeed and there was some hardened grim that made the fit too tight. I resolved the issue, but the bearing does not spin as it use to after getting forced out of such a tight jam.

Curado Bantam 200cu Help Needed
If I sent it your way would the service be $22? Also thanks for the response I have already even discussed with my wife that I've considered sending it your way. I wanted to just take a shot with a post before spending more on the reel. I can see that it would be an impossible to really assess the issue without really opening the reel up.

What are you guys using to clean/lube/grease your reels?
I clean most of the reel with a toothbrush, water, and dish soap The best cleaner in my opinion for bearings would be simple green. I place the bearings in the solution while I do everything else Oil- tsi321 by far for worm gear and bearings Grease- Cals Reel Grease for the gears

Favorite short spinning rod
I have a *** rod from a company that can not be named that is short for jerkbaits. I had a real struggle finding a rod shorter the 6'6 that was not a high price. I do not endorse the company in any way. It was just the only rod I could find at a reasonable price point. The rod is functional enough and I could not afford any other option.

Curado Bantam 200cu Help Needed
I have recently gotten into breaking down and super tuning my fishing reels. I have had some wonderful success with other reels, but the Curado Bantam 200cu I have recently purchased is another story. This is the first reel that I have done with bearing replacement and carbontex drag washers. I know that the ceramic bearings I purchased will be louder then the stock, but they are really loud in this reel. I made this purchase due to a desire to work on something older and to replace several different parts for the first time as well as sanding and polishing all friction points. This reel does not free spool well even whilst completely loose and sounds awful on the cast. I do not understand why it is not a beast. I read so many posts claiming that these reels are some of the best reels ever made. I anticipated much better performance all the work I have done. I did not over lubricate as far as I know. I used Cals grease very lightly on the gears and ts321 oil on the bearings in the form of one drop from a needle bottle tip. I am at a loss on why I have terrible results. Any feedback by someone who works on reels in their free time or by any reel techs would be phenomenal. I just don't know how to boost the performance or what is inhibiting the results I want. Thank you Tight Lines

are soft plastics Killing Bass
Do you think companies could make baits that are dissolved by the fishes stomach acid? I know some fish do not have any stomach acid, but I would think a bass would need to have some. I really think if a company could make useful plastic style baits that could do this other companies would follow. There are plenty of schools that have bass fishing teams on campus they should work together with the science department and try to figure out a compound that the fish could digest.

Reel Noise
Reels that aren't that old shouldn't have an issue with lubrication yet. Normally they are over greased at the factory in anticipation that the user will not clean the reel or grease it properly. I would do a full breakdown of the reel, clean, and then re-grease the gears. I wouldn't grease the pinion gear just the main one. I actually take a soft brush on a rotary tool to clean and semi polish my gear teeth on both the main gear and the pinion. I haven't damaged a gear yet with that process and feel it might help some with the overall smoothness of my reel. I know doing that isn't for everyone, but I really enjoy tuning my reels and polishing all friction points

My woes continue. Anyone else have this happen?
I know this is a bit late, but if you are struggling with drop shot fish getting off maybe you should try g finesse drop shot hooks designed by Aaron Martens. They are tournament hooks and seem to work great for me.

Stained vs muddy water
They can work great in both, but in stained water it's just less necessary to have that much flash or brightness. It can be off putting to stand out too much in stained water situations. More natural shad patterns or greenpumpkin variants might do better for you in the long run in stained water. I don't think major adjustment between the too is absolutely necessary since its not like you are going from muddy water to crystal clear water.

Advice Needed
I am looking at a 2002 ranger 520vx with a 225 Mercury optimax. Everything seems great with the boat and it ran well. The boat though has 735 hours on the engine and compression tested with the lowest cylinder at 81 and the highest at 95. I am concerned about the compression test should I pass on the boat?

Deformed
Thats a crazy deal. This week a buddy of mine caught a bass that was completely blind, both of its eyes were glassed over and completely white. It was a decent sized fish too.
