  1. Nice fish! I'm somewhat local, and have been wanting to get up there for a while. Being in the middle of no where is a complete understatement lol. It's pretty wild up there, the wind blows so hard there that some trees only have leaves/branches on one side.
  2. Just placed an order. I'm sure my bank account is crying after all these sales. Worth it, love the jigs!
  3. I'm pretty sure Tackle Warehouse has them on sale for $139. Just add it to your cart and you should see the discount.

I've been doing really well on double willow blade spinnerbaits, black/blue jigs, as well as red lipless crankbaits. Water temps today were in the mid 50's, and I was catching them around submerged stumps/trees/various timber with a white spinner.
  5. Hey everyone, figured I'd give a report on Western Maryland, if anyone is up this way. The pike are biting like crazy at Deep Creek, all of various sizes. Anywhere from 8" to 40". It also seems the fish are ready to start going after moving baits, so I think I can finally stop fishing slow. Both my dad and I have caught all fish on red lipless crankbaits (xcalibur one knockers) and crawdad square bills (Cotton Cordell Big O). Going out the next three days so I will report my findings if anything has changed.
  6. I think I'll be going with the 733. Thanks for your help, everyone. I really appreciate it!
  7. Yeah that was my initial thoughts. A crankbait rod for soft plastics? No way. Then as I read about it on Tackletour, and they said that, it basically threw what I thought I knew out the window, haha. Luckily I rarely listen to them, so I figured it was time to ask the experts. I've used just about every rod out there, except Dobyns. I know they run softer than some manufacturers, but I wasn't sure. Luckily you all are willing to help. I'll mainly fish lighter soft plastics or lighter jigs on it. Maybe a lipless crank or jerkbait in a pinch, but primarily soft plastics/light jigs, since I already have a dedicated crank/jerk rod. I thought I'd go with a medium fast, since just about rod I own is a medium heavy, so I figured why not add some variety into the mix. But i'm open to anything, really. Thanks for your input!
  8. Thanks so much for your input. It looks like I will be going with the 733!
  9. Awesome, thanks for your reply. Although, the only Medium Fast I see is the split grip. The 733c is a MH, unless I'm totally missing a MF haha.
  10. Hey everyone I've searched around a bit, and couldn't find the answer I'm looking for, so I guess it's time to make a post and ask. I'm in the market for a new rod, and I've decided on a Champion. However, I'm looking for a Medium Fast, and while TW has them, the one they offer is the split grip. I am stubborn and I really like full cork grips. This is where my question comes in. They have the glass rods, Medium Fast, and they are full cork. That would work just fine for soft plastics, right? I know the label says for cranking, but I don't see why I couldn't use soft plastics or smaller jigs on it, as well. I just wanted to get the general opinion from the forums. The Tackletour review/overview says it's a great soft plastic rod as well, but I take those reviews with a grain of salt sometimes, so I figured I'd ask the experts on the best bass site out there. Thanks for your time!
  11. Wow nice! I wish my area had a Dicks or some other large retailer. Closest Cabelas is 2 hours away, give or take a few, same with Bass Pro and Dick's.
  12. Don't know if many people consider Maryland to be North East, but fishing has been sporadic for me. Some days it will be 30+ bass, some days it will be all pike and pickerel. I have noticed that all the smallmouth this year have been really chunky, almost all of them have been footballs. Was slow yesterday until a storm hit. Rain lasted an hour or so and we landed about 10 bass, so it's not too bad. I'm definitely ready for fall, though.
  13. In the fall/spring I'll throw lipless cranks and a lot of jerkbaits. Definitely one of my favorites. I hate to wish the summer away, but bring on fall fishing!
  14. The pike bite has been pretty crazy where I am. Between my dad and I, we've put over 6 pike in the boat in the last month. 6 isn't that much, but when compared to how many we've caught in the last 5-10 years, it's quite a few. I definitely enjoy catching them though!
  15. Hey Everyone, I figured it was time I posted, as I have had an account for a couple months, and I've been lurking for a couple years. My name is Jonathan, I'm from the western most part of Maryland. I'm 23, and I've been bass fishing literally my entire life. Not as long as some people here, but my dad and grandfather started me early. My dad and I fish together most of the time, if not I'm by myself. Our first day of the season this year was April 1st, when ice was still in the shallow coves/creeks, and since then we've made about 90 trips to the lake. So needless to say, we've been fishing pretty hard this year haha. We fish from a bass boat, so thankfully the gas prices have lowered, allowing us to fish so much! My home lake is called Deep Creek, and it has the nick name of "The Reluctant Dragon". When the bite is on, it's on. But when the bite has slowed, the lake can be mighty cruel to most anglers. You either catch no fish, or you catch only pickerel or other toothy critters. Other than fishing, I am a student majoring in history. I hope to be a teacher some day, preferably a university professor. I'm also a diehard baseball fan, and lifelong fan of the Yankees. My grandfather was a hardcore fan, so it rubbed off on me. Baseball fan first, Yankee fan second. I look forward to reading all the great information posted here, I've had definitely learned a lot from Bass Resource over the years, and I hope it continues!
