  1. I'm a Lew's fan but would go with the Mettle for sure. It's the best one piece aluminum frame reel for the price.
  2. I recently switched from using full fiberglass Rods to blended Rods and am glad I did. Not only are they lighter but are more sensitive as well. I do still like the all glass rods at times on baits that put out a ton of vibration becuase they dampen it a bit. The rods I'm using now are around $60 and outperform a lot of $200 rods I've experimented with. Good luck in your search.
  3. I believe there is only the 7' medium and a 7'10" magnum cranker in the Ethos composite models with cork grips and regular Fuji Alconite guides. I picked the only 7"10 model I've seen with cork the other day for $39. Wish they would have had more of them.
  4. Look at Academy's H2O Xpress Rods. They have a 7" Cranking rod that works great. They had them on sale last week for $40, are frequently on sale at $50 but are regularly priced at $60. Great rod at any price in my opinion. I have 3 of them and couldn't be happier.
  5. I'm in the market for a new spinning reel and since I am running all Lew's Baitcasting reels and love them, I'm initially leaning that direction. I've read thru a lot of reviews and have seen a lot of bad reviews on some of the Lew's spinning reels in the past. How do you guys feel about the current offerings from Lews or should I just get a Daiwa or Shimano? I rarely use spinning gear so I'd like to keep the reel expense under $100. Thanks for any advice.
  6. I've run them on fiberglass and they are ok but just not as stout as I'd like for heavy cover. I remember in the early 90's when I worked at Bass Pro Shops there were guys who used something to dull the vibration. I just can't remember exactly How they did it.
  7. I have a rod that I like the action for fishing chatterbaits on but the d**n things vibrates me to death. Any suggestions for dampening the vibration? I know I may have to switch to fiberglass like I fish crankbaits on but was hoping for another option. Thanks for any advise.
  8. I really like the Ethos rods as well. Best Rod I've found under $100.
  9. I love the BB1. I recently picked up a tournament pro and a BB1 pro to compare to my BB1Z. The BB1Z came out on top for my needs.
  10. I use the 3/8 ounce with a 3" twin trailer. I'm am a bit spoiled though. I live on a private lake and am the only one who fishes it and it's full of good fish.
  11. I've tried several brands and even started making my own. I still find myself coming back to the Zman originals. I don't like the hooks but they just run better then anything else. My 3 biggest fish this year have been on the Zman. My fish like the tighter wobble and faster speed that I've only found possible in the originals.
  12. They are labeling the new Tournament MB as having the new LFS technology so maybe that's the difference.
  13. I've only been looking at the newer models. I have several BB1's and I do like them but have been kicking around the idea of picking up a few smaller reels. The handles difference was about all I could see in the newer Tournament MB and Tournament Pro.
  14. Title says it all. What are the main differences in the Lew's Tournament MB and the Tournament Pro Baitcasting reels? Thanks for an info!
  15. I'd go with a BB1. A little searching and they can be found for around $100
  16. How do you know what's sold out? I put one of ever model in my cart and it let me get completely thru the order and never said otherwise.
  17. I've been searching for a Swimbait Rod myself lately. I just picked up a 7'MH Ethos that appears to be perfect for a 4" Swimbait. It has a softer tip then most MH rods which is perfect. Landed several yesterday and it casted perfectly. I matched it with 15lb line and a Lew's BB1.
  18. Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum and from central Oklahoma. Glad to find a nice bass fishing forum. I've been bass fishing for 30 years and love the sport. I look forward to learning and sharing with you all.
