  1. WOW, great link, this is exactly what i needed. do you mind explaning what the green spots would be? vegetation or is it a depth thing? also i guess all the little numbers are the depth? seems hard to understand that also..
  2. They might be recuperating from the spawn and from what I've read, VERY hard to catch. I once Went to a lake stacked with largies and they were all recently off the beds, and couldn't catch a thing for 2 days. A couple Weeks later guys were pulling out 5lbs left and right. So, u might just have to wait a little bit for it to turn on again, if it's still bad in the few weeks the pond might be lacking fish. Also if the pond is heavily fished, try throwing baits and colours the bass have never seen before
  3. Same. I've never done enough drop shotting to really like it. if you're not tournament fishing then keep it as the last go to technique if the you are getting hit on others options. Whoever, I'm guessing caching some good numbers or sizes on a drop shot vs catching no fish is more fun than pitching or frogging all day with no bites!
  4. Great response. So true on the altering creature baits!
  5. Hey guys, Im looking for some expert advice to help me explain how to break down a map of the local area where I go fishing most. I don't quite understand all the fishing lingo.... Can someone tell me where the points are? Secondary point? Drop offs and flats (I assume these can only be found with a proper chart or on boat sonar) Where would be considered hot spots to try based on these screen shots? This is a river system where the currant runs left to right on these photos.. Thanks!
  6. Me and my fishing buddies live by the red ones, I rarely use the standard color anymore when pitching plastics on an EWG hook, even if i use a black and blue plastic, I still throw on the red hook. I find it gives the bait more flash and blood like presentation, and well.. it just works. But does it work better or the same as the standard hook colors (silver, black etc.)? Would love to hear from everyone and their experiences. And what YOU think works better, or the same!
  7. For example, I went to a new lake at a friends cottage, and I started off throwing a crankbait, which Is one of my favourite lures to throw.. And I got nothing. I didn't even know if there were bass in this lake. I had bought my first pack of Senkos and figured what the heck lemme try this silly things.. I went on to catch 10 bass that day on the senko. And it immediately became a favorite and I throw it all the time now.. Before that I would always stick with a crankbait way too long and assume there were no bass or they didn't wanna eat. just goes to show switching things up can show u what works where and what doesn't in other situations
  8. Haha, I feel the same way man, reading tons of information over the long winter clouds the brain with too much information. Most anglers who are serious have a collection of multiple rods and can try a bunch of different techniques within seconds on every other cast without wasting time re-tying different lures. (Which I'm assuming you might only have one or two rods will make this difficult) So most guys will have a crankbait tied up, a Carolina tied up, and so on, on multiple rods. So if something isn't working they can try the other rod quickly they get bit.. My suggestion is to. Go to a prime fishing spot and try something out for 20 or so minutes, and if it doesn't work, move on to something else. Also Don't get too caught up in colour and the " perfect jig for that moment" the standard black and blue, or green pumpkin can cover it! As for trailers, just switch them up once in a while if it's not working.. But from what I've noticed. Most trailers work the Same! All the different information is because pros have to push their sponsors and sell baits, so they wanna make u feel like u need to buy every single type. Amature anglers will tell u exactly what to buy and it will all be different cuz every angler has a personal favourite because they've done well on it numerous times.. I try different techniques after I get bored of always fishing the same baits, and from what I've noticed. I always end up finding the new "This is the perfect one bait"!! And now I have so many that are "my favorites" but hoenslty, go out and if u don't get bite switch it up to anything different every 20-30 minutes good luck this season bud!
  9. I've watched a lot of video from the bass master tournaments, and honestly I never see any of the elite series pros using Senkos. For one, I've caught a lot of bass on Senkos, From reading the forums in here, so have a lot of other anglers! But for some reason the pros (even those sponsored by (Yamamoto) don't throw a senko type baits during the big tournaments. You mostly see jig and power fishing, or if they do throw a plastic, it's a creature type bait, I've never seen anyone win off a senko, So should we all just throw jigs creature baits for soft plastics instead? Recently I have gone away from them to mostly use jigs and creature baits cuz I guess I'm trying to do the same as what seems to work well for the top dogs.
  10. i definitely have to give it a better go.. but i hear no action at night, dead silence, no misses, nothing. Seems like they turn off completely. All itll take is one, and then ill be hooked on the night bite for sure
  11. nice, that looks very organized! you can take that with you if on a boat, or just load a few in a backpack for bank fishing like u said! i have nocited the one box i had a few plastics in, is a little warped. that must be why! wow nice storage!
  12. Tried bass fishing at night once or twice. Didn't even get a bite. He bite actually starts to turn off for me 30 minutes before dark, much better as the sun is setting. Ive heard certain areas bass will hit at night and certain areas they just won't. Maybe I'm in an area where they don't.
  13. You can't throw a baitcast as far as a spinning rod, you have to use less of a Hail Mary fling, and more of a tight strong snap shot, if that makes sense.. Your probably over throwing because you're trying to get the same distance as you would a spinning rod.. And you won't be able to
  14. I'm sorting threw my tackle before the upcoming season starts this year, and wanna know what's best for keeping my soft plastics organized. Right now my plastics are in bags, within bags, within bags. But I don't wanna lug around ALL my plastics so I wanna bring a few of each kind. I've noticed keeping different colours in the same bag is a BAD idea, as the lighter colours get stained by the darker colours. So I'm done doing that I saw that Aaron Martens keeps his plastics in tackle boxes to keep them straight. Which seems true cuz I've already noticed some of my baits are a bit wonky from keeping them in the bags. But won't keeping them in a Plano styles box make my baits dry out, or lose sent? Marten and other pros might not care if they dry out cuz he can replace them at anytime seeing as how, HE DOESN'T PAY FOR THEM. Lol Whats the best way to organize plastics...!? Thanks guys
  15. True story, I've caught a ton of that silver looking one. I lost it a few years back and haven't replaced it tho. Have been leaning more on crankbaits and plastics. I'll definitely have to pick one up again.
  16. It all depends on how long you can go out for, if I do 2hrs and don't catch one, well I didn't hit all spots or give it enough time. I when out for 7 hrs in one day once last summer with 3 guys including myself and I was the only one who didn't catch. Missed a bunch of frog bites tho. But they just didn't want the frog that day. Im always happy when I get that first one, and I'm like "okay I can go home happy now" and that fades after 30 minutes lol
  17. Hey guys, So i stocked up over the winter with a bunch of new jigs.. I took them out of the packaging and placed them in my boxes but now can't remember what specific techniques they are for. (flipping, swim jig, finesse?) I can tell which ones the football jigs are but thats about it Basically i wanna know if flipping jigs can have different styled heads? And swim jigs same question.. Can anyone explain? Pictures would help also.. ps- Can you flip a swim jig? i don't see why throwing any jig to a target and twitching the rod tip wouldnt work.. Thanks!
  18. Exactly. The pros are consistently preaching "this is very important" Theres a different rod, rod strength, rod tip, reel size, reel speed, lure, lure size, lure type, lure colour, weight size, different line strength, different line type. It's all bull. They are just trying to sell, once people understand that, you can simplify but avoiding buying a million lures and rod set ups. Unlike the pros, people actually have to buy their gear, and it's impossible or gonna cost $100,000 to have the arson all they have. Yes in a perfect world everyone would have a rod and lure for every single technique, but for most, having a few rods and tackle that'lol do the trick is good enough!
  19. What does a front mean in terms of affecting bass and their location and habits? looking for a simple quick explanation plz! thx
  20. Can anyone give a simple and short explanation to how bass move and react to the moon? thx!
  21. I fish a great bank spot with a ton a largies, problem is there's A LOT of dead vegitation from after ice melt. I've caught bass in this spot by pitching a plastic, and occasionally throwing a spinnerbait where I can manage to squeeze one in. But honestly it's almost impossible to even fish a spinnerbait because the dead weed is so thick. I like pitching, but without a target to pitch to (the weeds are below surface for most of the spring), it can seem like a needle in a hay stack. Even pitching a creature bait or jig I pull in a ton of dead grass.. I can't pitch it out too far or it's very hard to get back to shore. What techniques should I consider to heighten my odds of cover a large area without a target to fish to.. I'm guess top water is a good way but what if they aren't hitting top water that day..? I know the fish are there because I do catch.. I just wanna catch more and be able to cover more water.. What should I consider? Thanks!
  22. Dt 6 craw dad colour. black spinnerbait topwater frog green Flipping jog or havoc Pitt boss Baby bass senko
  23. Depends how big the bass you're fishing are. And what type of cover. I prefer a MH over heavy in most cases because the fish max out at 5-6lbs where I am from and the heavy rod would be overkill. A lot of medium heavies are close in back bone to a heavy action these days. A lot of the Florida and California guys use heavy because they have 10lbs+ bass in heavy vegetation. Also spinning rods usually aren't used for crankbaits. Go with the Veritas 2.0 in the 7'6" MH fast action model and you will be able to cover a lot of options (frogs, jigs, pitching plastics)
