  1. I agree that weight distribution is key. I also use a Sears Game Fisher, 1985 11' long. When i go by myself, i use 2 70lb sand tubes to help even the weight out and make the boat ride level in the water. Also, the extra weight helps to stabilize it more so that i can stand to fish and walk around a little bit. Like Shawn, everything in my boat is removable, even the wood floors. Makes for lifting it into the back of the truck so much easier. Good luck to you. Jason
  2. No sir...You Rule!! for making these baits. Jason
  3. I am just about done building my 11' Jon Boat. I did not put decks because of the "tipsyness" of it. I did put wood floors in it and also covered everything in carpet. It really helped with keeping the noise down if i drop something or set something down. I also won't be putting raised pedestal seats on it for the same reason as before. What i bought are these brackets that basically "clamp" the bench seats with big metal arms and then mount some nice seats on those. I found the brackets in Cabela's Bargain Cave for $13 a piece. Very nicely made and very strong. All i need to finish is a foot control trolling motor on the front and make a bracket to mount my depth finder on. Good luck with your project. Jason
  4. I ordered my first one earlier this week. Should be here any day now!! Can't wait to try it! Jason
  5. Jim, don't sweat it. It's really hard to tell on the internet whether somebody is joking or not. Sometimes it helps to use the smileys to show that you are joking. Jason
  6. and just because i'm a stang man...here's my old Nebraska Highway Patrol Coupe and one after i put the Cobra R hood on it
  7. with the pitted ones Russ, you can wet sand them, buff and polish, but it's gonna take a long time and a lot of sand paper. You'll be up past 2000 grit to make them like new again. Be better off getting new ones. I suppose it would depend on how big the stocking is to fit new headlights in there ;D Jason
  8. nu-finishes scratch doctor. stuff removes everything, even the yellow. It takes alot of elbow grease but its makes them look good.
  9. I love the BROWN TRUCK!!!
  10. cool, appreciate the info guys 8-) Jason
  11. I used Gamakatsu for the last few years, but found myself using more and more Owners hooks the second half of this year. I really like them, very sharp! Jason
  12. Do you guys not use one because of where you are fishing or that it affects the action of the bait or it just doesn't need it as the top hook works perfect by itself?
  13. Ordered the Mattlures Crappie bait today from ***. What size of trebles are you guys using on the bottom of these? Jason
  14. Welcome aboard!! You found the best fishing site on the web! Thanks for all you do! Jason

  19. I use the Eagle Fishmark 320. Very good picture, and has everything you're looking for plus some. $150 at most places. Jason
  20. I think the general consensus is that as the water cools in the fall, work the bait slower...with longer pauses in between jerks. In the spring, as the water warms up, you should be able to work the bait faster...quicker jerks and shorter pauses. Jason
  21. Jerkbaits are my go to cold water technique. Jason
  22. I can speak from experience of narrow boats. I use an 11' jon boat that is 36" wide at the bottom. with 2 people, it is stable enough to stand to fish. When i go by myself, i put 2 70lb sand tubes in the front to help stabilize it. I will not however be putting decks on it. It would be waaaaay to unstable for that. Standing in the bottom of the boat is unstable at first, but i have grown comfortable with it. I would look for a boat that is at least 42" wide at the bottom. Each little bit will help tremendously with stabilization. Also, i will be mounting seats that sit directly on the benches, with no pedestals. I think even a 7" pedestal will be too high and unstable. Jason
  23. HA HA...that's Fish Chris' site. He's very well known on this forum for hunting huge fish of all kinds! Jason
  24. I love Cabela's! They just opened a new one in La Vista, Nebraska. It's about 1/2 hour down the interstate from me. The wife hates it!! ;D ;D And Bass Pro is only 15 minutes past that. Jason
  25. I also use the Cabela's brand neoprene waders with the attached boots. I really like them. Comfortable, not expensive, and work great, especially if the water is chilly. Jason
