  1. Yes but it is already scratched so I would still like to cover it up.
  2. Does anyone know where I can buy a piece of this or what I need to seatch for on Google? I want to put a bigger piece because the trolling motor is destroying the paint.
  3. I had the same problem with 8 lb thickness power pro. 12 lb thickness I don't have the problem. This year I switched to Suffix 832 for my 8lb reels and haven't had the problem yet.
  4. I have a fiberglass rod for crankbaits. I like it because I feel like I lose a lot less fish. I don't like the sensitivity at all though. I'm looking at these g loomis blended rods. Anyone use them? How are they? http://www.gloomis.com/content/g-loomis/us/en/home/conventional/rods1/bass/bass/CRANKBAITS.html
  5. It does have guides. I guess it will hit the guide before it hits the transducer. Thanks for all of the help.
  6. Does this look alright? I like not having to move the motor out of the way and also will be nice to have depth at a higher speed. I just have a feeling on a windy day I might end up smashing the transducer on the trailer bunk though.
  7. That is a great idea. I will do that. Thanks Wayne.
  8. I was more concerned about if I don't have the transducer actually hanging below the bottom of the hull that it would affect the quality of the images. Like if the bottom of the transducer is flush with the bottom of the hull or slightly above would the SI hit the hull and mess up the image?
  9. I have read them. But they also show pictures in the webdite of them mounted where mine are now. If I mount it in the location in the picture you showed does it have to be completely under the boat? Or can I keep it up 1/2" to 1" to keep it somewhat proteced?
  10. Thanks Wayne. So if I put it where the one in the picture is it would be best? Can it be on the right side or does it have to be on the left?
  11. Teying to figure out where to mount hdsi transducer for Helix 10. I circled the two transducers that I have now in red. I would like to put it in one of those locations. Would one of the locations that I circled in green be better? It will be more likely to get damaged in one of tge green areas but if it will work better there then I would do it.
  12. I will order today thank you.
  13. I called today to exchange it and they told me they don't recommend it and that I won't notice any difference. Should I still do it?
  14. I'm just bought a Helix 10 si gps and a Helix 7 si gps. I'm still trying to figure out if I want to mount the transducer for the 7 which will be at the bow on the trolling motor or have them both on the back. I called Humminbird today to find out how far apart tgey have to be away from each other and they told me as far as possible but wouldn't give me a minimum distance. I have no idea what this means. If I mount one on the left side of the motor and one on the right is that far enough away?
  15. Are you guys using the trolling motor for the transducer or mounting two in back
  16. I did my carpet a few years ago and I used a grinder with a wire wheel to get the glue off the aluminum deck. The wood deck didn't have any glue. This was a tracker and I had to take the whole boat apart to do the job right. Dissaseming compartments, drilling out rivets, trying to remember where a million different screes went. I would never do it again. I have a newer tracker now and when it needs carpet I'm getting rid of it. Not sure about other boats but this was my experience.
  17. I am upgrading my electronics on my 2010 PT 175. I want to get a Helix 7 for the bow. I am afraid it is too big and might be in the way. The front deck does not have much space to begin with. Does anyone use one this size at the bow for a smaller boat like this? If so where did you locate it? Thanks
  18. Helix 5 or 7 si gps is what I'm getting. Is there anny downside to having transducer on trolling motor besides the wire? Like interference or something else that I'm not thinking of?
  19. Wayne, How many transducers do you have? I am going to get either a Helix 5 or 7 for the front and I wanted to do it with one transducer but it looks like the only way to do it is with a switch that only allows you to use one at a time. I am trying to avoid having a transducer on my trolling motor.
  20. Looks like there is no Ram mount for the 9 or the 10. This will be a problem I think. 2010 Tracker PT 175 at the console the only place it will fit it would need the Ram mount.
  21. I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it for me to pay the extra $500 for the 10 instead of the 9. With the 10 I am obviously getting a slightly bigger screen. 10 comes with transducer that I will have to pay $85 to get from Humminbird. Looks like it might also have a better picture. What else am I getting with the 10 that I don't get with the 9?
  22. I got a new (used) boat this year. It has a 2010 version of Lowrance HDS5. The boat I had before had a Humminbird 598ci si. After one full season of using the Lowrance I don't like it. I liked the Humminbird much better. I do like the HotMaps platinum card that I have in the Lowrance though. I am probably going to buy a Helix 5 si gps and Helix 7si gps for next year. When I look on Navionics website it says that the HotMaps platinum card is not compatible with either of these units. I don't understand why but maybe it's because they want you to buy the Lakemaster card? Is Lakemaster equal to HotMaps Platinum? I have never used it and don't know anything about it. I am also wondering if it is possible to use these two units with the same transducer? Thanks.
  23. Is it possible to use a Helix 5 si and a helix 7 si with one transducer in the back of the boat? I'm trying to avoid a transducer on my trolling motor.
  24. I was thinking about buying a 5 for the front and a 7 for the dash. Onlybthing I don't like is that neither of them is compatble with Navionics platinum plus. The 9 is but I can't even find one anywhere. Seems like it isn't out yet? Did the 600 and 800 series get discontinued? Those aren't even on Humminbird's website anymore.
  25. I rented a cabin on Brandy pond in Maine which connects to Long lake. Has anyone ever fished it? I will be there last week of August for 10 days. It also connects to Sebago but I have been there and it was terrible bass fishing. Maybe it was just me but I don't think I will be going there. Hopefully these lakes are better. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
