  1. I've been hammering em on crankbaits. Lures probably vary greatly from lake to lake! I wish bass liked the same lures everywhere, that'd make it cheaper and easier for me
  2. If you kill a fish and leave it out, some scavenger is going to have an easy meal. That's the way I look at it.
  3. My goal is to go bassin in Florida for a weekend or something. A 10 pounder is just pretty nice one down there. Where I fish a 10 pounder would be a d**n monster!
  4. Honestly I think a lot of people new to fishing expect to catch a ton of fish every time with little effort . some days the fish can be biting like that, other days there won't even be a bite. I just like to get outdoors, catching fish is just a bonus to me!
  5. Lol by shallow I mean down to 10 feet. I'm not steady in 2 foot of water
  6. Thanks I'll have to check em out. How do u like to rig em ?
  7. I have been thinking of starting a bass pond recently. Here's some details about the pond. Its a Michigan pond with cattails around it with plenty of frogs and other wildlife in it. Maximum depth is probably 8-10 feet deep. Most of the pond is porbabley 5-6 feet. The size is about .1 acre. Summer water temps are good (70s). The pond has groundwater seeping in I take it. In the winter I plan on having a pump to keep some water open to allow gases to escape, oxygen transfer etc. Stocking ideas: 2lbs fathead minnows 30-40 3-4 inch bluegills 5 14" LM Does this project sound possible? Anybody have experience with this type of thing? Any comments welcome
  8. I have mainly crankbaits, spinnerbaits, frogs, and some soft plastics... What else would be good for the tackle box? I like to fish heavy cover and mainly shallow because I don't have a fish finder BTW...lakes I fish are usually clear to stained water.
  9. Don't know how many guys on here on from Michigan but just wondering about any good places for muskies (rivers, smaller lakes) in the upper peninsula. Guys from Wisconsin would probably know some spots too. Where u cheeseheads catching em? Haha
  10. Square bill and frog... This is in Michigan though water temps only in the 70s I'm guessing
  11. Square bill crank and anything T rig
  12. These posts are making me squirm like a worm lol
  13. Maybe based on your location.. Throw a frog out there especially if the ponds are weedy
  14. Also I have fished a lake where to oil have really bad bloody tumors of some sort. Every since then I've not enjoyed pike as much.
  15. Hell yes! Unless they are over about 24 inches. Those boys can run through soft plastics which makes me switch to hardbaits. Some days when bass aren't biting its fun to get some pike though.
  16. Just started on baitcasters this year from spinning. It took me a solid week of practice to get a feel of how to adjust them for different lures. After a couple months I hardly ever have backlashes. Just remember don't ever reel over backlashes, always pull em out. Good luck!
  17. Just wondering what lures you guys throw the most during summer months.. For me its top water and crankbaits.
  18. Don't have a problem with people keeping occasionally . but there are much much better tasting fish than bass!
  19. 4.5 lbs. Pretty good for a northern LM!
  20. I like to fish crankbaits and top water as well. Guess I don't have a least favorite. Every lure and bait has there moment...
  21. Cabelas pork chop square bill in bling pattern
  22. Go braid! Just adjust fishing style, fish hook themselfs on crankbaits. Lighten the drag on your pole and you'll be good.
