kvd spinnerbaits
I own several. My favorite so far is the all chart. 3/8oz. with a #2 colorado and #5 Indiana. Also have a few white 1/2 ounce double willows which are great. Any spinnerbait made by Strike King is a good one.

When do you start your slop fishing????
80 degree surface temp. Its best on sunny days. Provides excellent shade for big bass. Lillies are my favorite cover to fish. Until the surface temp hits 80, i'll be throwin a spinnerbait and tickin' those lilly reeds.

Post a picture of your tacklebox!!!!!!!!!!!!
Haha. This is gonna kill you guys. I'm a bank fishermen and carry only one "tacklebox." My "tacklebox" is actually a spinnerbait box. On the left side, I have mostly spinnerbaits, extra skirts, extra blades, trailer hooks, a crankbait, a topwater, a sammy, and popn toad. On the right side, in all that mess, I've got mostly soft plastics, 2 buzzbaits, 3 or 4 cranks, horny toads, hollow body frogs, jigs, and glass rattles. If you'll notice the tie around the box... the most ghetto shoulder strap ever constructed. This box, and its contents are all that I need when I hit the water. Check it out.

Small Ponds and such
Dude, just stick with it. Some days the bite is just off. Others you'll kill 'em. Keep throwin the spinnerbaits. Its the most productive lure ever made. Ponds are the best fishing there is. Especially if the pond has a lot of bass, and a lot of bluegill. Try throwing crankbaits in a bluegill pattern. Match the forage. Sooner or later, the bites gonna turn on... and when it does, make sure you're there.

the bass obsession...
There is no "normal." Didn't you ever seen the movie Angus? ;D I'm completely obsessed with bass fishing. No other fishing, but when it comes to bass... well, I'm sure you understand. My wife gives me this look every time I leave to head for the water. I know some of you can relate.

Short Arm or Long Arm Spinnerbaits.
Always the same. Colors and blades change based on water clarity/sky conditions, but a short arm spinnerbait with a red 1/0 trailer hook is always a must. Long arms grab more vegetation then treble hooks. - Aaron

Yamamoto Senko's and imitations

jig trailers on spinnerbaits???
Never use a trailer on a spinnerbait, just a trailer hook.

Ratt -L- trap paint
Yea. Bill Lewis Rat-L-Traps have probably the worst paint when it comes to chips among all other lipless cranks. Spend the extra 1 to get the better one. You'll be suprised at the difference.

pond fishing in 40 degree weather??
Na I disagree. In small ponds such as the one you're describing, the water warms a lot easier and faster then in a large lake. On sunny days, whether warm or cold, you'd be suprised in the increase in water temperature. I fish a local pond quite a bit, its about 50 feet across, and 70 feet wide. Especially if the water is clear, on sunny days the water will be pretty warm compared air temperature. You just have to experiment a little. Try a spinnerbait, or crankbait. Some days they just have locked jaw. Others they kill whatever touches the water. Pond fishing is the best. Try this. Leave your tacklebag in your car or somewhere on the bank. Tie on a white spinnerbait, and take a walk around the pond. Stop at every spot that looks good, and fish for 10 minutes or so. If you don't catch anything, move on. When you get back around to your tacklebag, if you haven't caught anything, tie on a shiny lipless crankbait. Take a walk. Do this when you until you find something that gets 'em. Good luck and have fun. - Aaron

Is it all over!!!
No. Its not over. In Missouri we just got a serious cold front that drop temps from 70's and 80's down to 40's for a week. That just postponed the spawn longer. It has to the 70's for a week to get the lake temp to meet that. Another reason ponds are better, water warms a lot faster. In some small ponds around you the spawn may have started, but its definately not over. Like other said prior, it lasts weeks and weeks.

pond fishing
Little ponds are the best bass fishing in the country I think. Such a small area you can cover 2 or 3 times before you leave. Try a spinnerbait. My favorite lure to cover water effectively. Stick with it man, and have fun out there. - Aaron

Heres the scenario
I agree with Avid's technique. Completely. I would prefer throwing a Lucky Craft RC 3.5 in Copper Green or American Shad.

Tungsten Jigs
Had my eye on the Bass Pro XPS professional series tungsten jig. Anybody used tungsten jigs before? What are the pros and cons? Do you prefer a tungsten jig? What size/techinques do you use?

lily pad lunkers
I go to a local lake that has lillies in every cove. I've got the technique that kills all when it comes to lilly pads. Check it out. Spinnerbaits. Spinnerbaits are the golden ticket when it comes to these lillies. Other baits have their perks, and do catch fish in lillies, I'm not sayin they don't. Its just been my experience that if you use the right technique, its almost automatic that if there's a fish there, you're gonna catch it. You have to get the perfect combination of colors and blades based on water clarity, and when you do... you can't stop them from biting it. Red on the bait is only a plus. Always have a red 1/0 trailer hook on the back. Always. As soon as you get the lake drop your lure in the water. If it goes down 2 feet or more, its clear water. 18 inches, lightly stained. A foot, heavily stained. And 6 inches or less, dirty. Clear Water - White or translucent skirt. Double willow silver blades. Silver provides a very natural flash. Lightly Stained - White or white/chartruese skirt. Gold large blade, silver small blade. Tandem willow, or double willow. Heavily Stained - White/chartruese or chartruese skirt. Double gold blades. I prefer a #6 Indiana, and a #3 colorado. Dirty - Firetiger Skirt. Most visible colors to bass in dirty water besides black. Green, chartruese, and orange. Double gold blades. Again, prefer #6 Indiana, and #3 colorado. Double colorados is a good choice also. Crash the spinnerbait into the reeds of the lilly pads. Won't hang up if you do it with enough speed, it doesn't take much. But that small bump of the reed shakes "the whole house." They feel it. They hate it. Looks like a dumb little fish. Think I'll eat it. Trust me buddy, if you know whats good for you, you'll take my advice on this. Try it. You'll understand what I'm talking about. - Aaron

Skirt Suggestions SB/BB/JIGS
Without a doubt, the Strike King Perfect Skirt is by far the best skirt I've ever fished with. So much more action then standard skirts. I've changed all skirts on all baits to perfect skirts. Take my advice if you want it, but the perfect skirt blows every other out of the water.

Superstitions, Rituals, Etc
I always prep the night before, as I'm sure most of you do. I never use any pliers or clippers. If I hook a fish through the head, then I'll spend 5 minutes getting the hook out. I'll use my lighter as a pair of clippers. Burn through the line. No reason, just don't see the point in carrying the extra tools. I play Jack Johnson's cover of Sublime's "Badfish" on the way to the spot. Have to.

Looking for Video
Don't think its the video you're talkin about. Here dude. This is the coolest bass video I've ever seen in my life. Check it out. That one fish completely swallows that spinnerbait dude. Crazy beasts.
