  1. No not a chance you "need" to pay that price for a lure. Those same pros you mention also use $80,000.00 boats too but they are absolutely not necessary. Those sponsors covering those boats want you to believe every thing they use or say they use is golden. That is how they make $. Be real if that company didn't exist AJ would still be holding fish up. He wouldn't not catch fish if $20 lures weren't available. And the pros, well they would still be catching fish selling you on something else. Take care of your kid wife family etc money is obviously not falling off trees your on a budget. AJ I dont see a black one ???
  2. I just ordered a Fenwick® AETOS™ PRICE $125.97 MODEL#A741MFC. It was also Free shipping. My total was $136.36 at my door. She said the inventory was going fast she had to look to make sure they had what I wanted before she took my order. So if you guys want one of these better step on up. She said the new ones come out this fall. Also anyone looking for a new Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier Baitcast Reel they are marked down slightly. Sale price: $89.97 and Free Shipping.
  3. Funny I have very similar thoughts on popular baits that I HAVE USED, but I do not care for. Zoom Super Flukes or any fluke. Brush Hog although I kind a like the baby version. Luck-e-Strike anything pretty much. Even their worms feel extremely cheap. Any and all umbrella rigs Tubes I'll use but find other baits more productive usually leaving them in the box. Just about everything Missile baits makes. Kept seeing people here bragging on the dbombs etc talking about them and I hate them. Those ribs never made one bubble I saw and they ruin skin hooking quickly once they pull through. And jumbo crankbaits like the SK 10xd. Pretty dang similar list.
  4. No doubt it ranked highly on the wth did he just say list. As to the question at hand I haven't left one that I am aware of. But I am probably just so tight. All I see is $ and I work to hard to let one get away. Ill probably lose 3 this week now that I said I hadn't lost one.
  5. Just my opinion use the Minn Kota MKA-47 universal quick release bracket. I prefer as few marks scratches and holes as possible for equipment attached to my boat. Once you cut into it you can't undo it.
  6. Oh man someone has been dumping those d**n diet pills in your water. What hook style did you end up using? What did you change?
  7. I believe I do as well the lady explicitly told me if I rip it off on a stump or it just fails from use its covered. It was one of the better reasons I saw to get it.
  8. That was a dang good deal. Sweet deal 1/2 price is nice on a very nice reel. If you have any issues on what to do is be glad to take it off your hands and relieve you of your troubles.
  9. Yeah same here I got away from the standard EWG as the hook point is very much obstructed by the design of the hook. Offset is the way to go IMHO. Usually a 3/0 or 4/0 for me and I avoid the light wire versions. Not that they don't work but I'm like many here I set to hook with intention.
  10. Just for humor how many of you or your fishing partner ended up in the water? No I haven't yet but a couple times had a little bit of a scare.
  11. Mine will stay insured as well. Boat insurance is about the cheapest part of fishing.
  12. I hear there is a second part to the Making a Murderer series. I want to see it if it's coming.
  13. Just received this package from the overstockbait.com sale. I figured that was not a bad score for less than a $20.00 ($18.80)
  14. I think I have seen those on the clearance racks and they did not come with any hitches. I think I even have a pack myself. If I was to use them I would do similar to what Gundog described.
  15. I would say your in need of learning a sweeping hook set before a hook embeds itself into your cranium.
  16. Heck yeah! Great place. Congrats.
  17. But it did unless I am missing something?
  18. How much quicker is the fall rate vs braid?
  19. If I had to pick a favorite producer it's the Mann's Jelly worm color Grape and Black Grape. If it's just what I like the list is endless. Lately it's been Zoom U Tale motor oil / chartreuse tail. Yum Ribbontail worm tequila sunrise is a close second. And last a Havoc Pit Boss in several colors PB&J, Big Texan, and Green colors in general.
  20. I've been watching the flea market here but nothing I want has come up or it was to much with shipping. On rods it's hard to buy just one and get a deal. I've pretty much decided the Aetos was a great deal with a warranty to boot. Guess the Discover Card is coming out. HaHa
  21. Yeah weightless to me is well boring unless your just into a good bite where your not waiting intently. Like you said the YouTube nutz inadvertently are showing you how boring it is by not watching with dedication. I'll fish a t-rigged worm all day though and I know others think it's slow and boring.
  22. Yeah sometimes it's best to order and just take the beating when they arrive. Wounds will heal and it costs to much to ship back. I want 2 Aetos myself I need a good worm rod or 2 but I have spent way to much this year already. It's a internal fight as I tossed the wife out a few years ago. ?
  23. I can tell bites by keeping my line simi tight or what ever, little or no slack. I watch my line very close. Anything you fish weightless is as much visual as feel imho
  24. You need tension on the line the entire time you spool it up. Doesn't have to be extremely tight just can't have slack or loose windings. I personally do not use the tension knob to keep tension but that doesn't mean some don't. Someone mentioned using a phone book and they sell a tool that will hold your reel and line with a tension adjustment on the spool side. It's your call how you keep tension on it. Just a question how long have you used baitcaster reels? Just trying to figure out your experience level.
  25. The only problem with sending it to Walmart is they seem to lose my stuff. In your situation I would say that may be the best route. Good luck. I've been very lucky considering all the bad stories I read. And I am in need of a new rod now guess I'll try my luck again with Fenwick so far never a issue with the last 2 orders.
