Never thought of taping it! Do you know if they still make these screw in reels or is that pretty much a thing of the past now? I'd prefer not to buy a 20 year old reel just to have one to fit this pole.

I have this great old Zebco rod that I've had since I graduated from my snoopie pole. It's in great shape and it's the most comfortable rod to me because I've used it for so long. Great strength great sensitivity great everything and especially great memories. PROBLEM - the Zebco spincast reel that I've had with it recently broke (probably because it was 20 years old) and I need a new one. The problem I'm having is that this rod doesn't fit typical reels. It only fits reels that SCREW IN WITH A BOLT FROM THE BOTTOM. Anyone know where I can still get a reel like this? The rod doesn't have any moveable parts to tighten the reel down like 99% of the poles out there, it has a hole in the bottom where you bolt the reel in. Please help, don't want to let this rod go to waste when it's still in prime condition.

Here's my two cents 1. Can you use a half of a senko or does it need to be z-man product? Z-man is my preferred product, but be careful on storage. keep them in the packs you got them in and keep them out of the heat/sun. Anything that's buoyant will probably work since the mushroom head is meant to stand up. 2. What is the ideal weight for the jighead? 1/10 has always been my ideal weight but I wouldn't go any heavier than a 1/6. 3. Is the bite hard to detect or do they slam it? The bite can is hard to detect and just like any jigging, you need to practice it to be comfortable knowing when something hits it. Lately I've been using the weedless Shroomz jig heads because I was tired of thinking rocks were bites and then setting it for no reason. 4. What is the best time to throw this ned rig presentation? Anytime. The trick is to find where they're at during each season. right now in fall, I love throwing it against steep rocky bluffs and under boat docks. I've found they don't work great in soft muddy bottoms, but rocky or sandy areas are great places to produce. Also, the more you use a TRD finesse worm, the better they stand up. I dont' know why, but they do.

I was brain dead after a long week of fishing and it was our last day. I landed a good 7 or 8 lb catfish, took the hook out, and tossed him back in the water. My dad asked, "what'd you do that for?" I just stared blankly into the water and as casually as possible said "I don't know, but that was a d**n good fish". We laughed for a couple minutes and decided at that point it was time to go home.

I've always found everything is more active in the cool fall waters so a speedy return on your jerkbait to keep it off the bottom is no problem. Fluke Jr and Storm Wildeye Swim Shad all day during spring and fall for this guy. crank it up, let it drop, crank it up, let it drop. That's my go to classic right there.

Can someone explain to me why a certain reel would make a difference in drop shots? I get pole sensitivity and action and the type of line used, but are there certain reels made for drop shots? I've got a couple medium sized spinning reels for any Bottom fishing (T-rigs, Carolina rigs) and walk the dog, and then a couple medium sized spincasters for swim baits so I can throw them a mile, then a few light spinning reels for my Crappie fishing. I also use my medium spinning reels for catfish. Two bass poles (one 6' and one 6'6", both medium/fast action) and a medium spinning reel would work just fine for drop shots, correct?

Buoyant worms it is! I've got some Finesse TRD's (PB&J and Green Pumpkin Orange) that I know are buoyant so I might strap those on since they've done well for me on the Ned Rig. As far as the craws I'll definitely be checking out the missile baits after reading the reviews and the fact that it says in the description that they're specifically designed for Drop Shots. I knew I'd get the answers I need from y'all. Thanks again!

I think I worded this title wrong, I'm not a beginner fisherman but I am a beginner to the drop shot. I'd like some pointers to help. Is a heavy weight better to keep it on the bottom? What's a good distance from the weight? Can I fish ANY soft plastics or should I stick with worms? I ask that last question because a lot of my Missouri/Ozark success is due to YUM Craws first and Senkos second (typically T-rigged). What size hook is appropriate? Have you had better luck weedless rigging the hook or simply hooking it in the head? Is there anything against rigging two hooks? Have I posted too many questions? I've researched it on the internet quite a bit today (probably should be working) but I have too many specific questions that weren't being answered properly, so I'm here now.

I don't mind spending up to $100 on a rod and probably same price for a reel if I know they'll last. Mainly I just need it to be 6 or 6 1/2 foot, medium to medium-fast action, and smooth eyelets. 5 1/2 foot slow action for my Crappie fishing. Here's a question to add to this list: I've got 7 reels and only 4 rods because I don't ever take more than 4 with me but depending on how I'm fishing I'll grab more spincast reels or more spinning reels or heavier or lighter. Does anyone else have separate reels they put on a standard set of rods depending on the type of fishing?

I like the sound of "it pushes a lot of water". I've used dark spinners and buzz baits for morning and evening before so I think I have an idea of what to do with this. I wasn't sure if there was a certain trick to inline spinners as opposed to typical ones. Thanks guys

Hey all, I'm fishing a Mepps Black Fury #4 dressed this weekend and can't find any good pointers on how to fish it. All I've read is that it's good for morning and evening and catches everything from trout to bass to pike. Anybody have any good pointers on retrieval, heaviness of the line, where (open water, shore, brush)? This is literally the first inline spinner I've ever fished for some reason. I saw it on the rack and something about it caught my eye, don't know anything about it besides what I've Googled this morning.

I fish every weekend I can in the spring and fall. Usually at least twice a month, and since my dad is retired he's always looking to get out of the house and fishing in the Jon Boat. I go bank fishing during the week at least once usually. If I didn't have a lady, it would be every weekend but I kind of like having her around. The things we sacrifice to keep others happy................

Don't know if there are set guidelines on how to fish different reels but this is the only way I use my reels because it's the only way I know how to. Spincaster - top water and cast-and-retrieve baits and anything that needs to be thrown a quarter mile away Spinning - deep water and/or slow presentations Baitcaster - flipping for bass/Jig-n-pig

Yep! It's going to require me being in a park after dark though. In my defense they don't have a gate or a sign stating the hours so I've always wondered if it has overnight rules. Either way, no sign and no gate means I'm going. Anyone want to suggest something for river fishing in the night? Same as I would during daylight? I've really only trotlined at night so this is a new experience and thought it would be a good time to try it.
