  1. It might also be worth checking your technique on how you spool the line onto the reel. I am using Sniper 16# as well on casting set ups and dont have any memory issues worth mentioning. But when I dont perfectly spool the line onto a reel I get probs, no mater what line quality or diameter. Just a thought.
  2. Well, the most critical part is receiving the order, incorporating it seamlessly into the exiting arsenal without anybody noticing! When she then asks at some point: "Is this [enter tackle of your choice here] new?". You just respond very calmly: "Babe, I had this for years!" I have 3 different orders coming from TW (hopefully tomorrow) where I will be working from home (while she is on her job). Giving myself a tap on the shoulder myself!
  3. Got shipment confirmations now as well!!! Fishing brain --> https://giphy.com/gifs/party-the-office-hard-l0MYt5jPR6QX5pnqM Financially responsible (aka afraid of the wife) brain --> https://giphy.com/gifs/scared-shocked-jquDWJfPUMCiI
  4. Nothing for me so far
  5. Yeah, lets wait and see. I got the confirmation and I payed with paypal which was instantly deducted from my account. My fishing brain says "PLEEEEEEASE GO THROUH!" my financial brain says: "HOW THE F.... could you spend 700USD on gear that you were not even really thinking about when the day started...". the monkey got me good today!
  6. I see that they just reset it again to 499. Let's see if mine goes through. I also ordered a Steez AGS 7'9 XH for 377. THey just reset the price as well. Oh well, if I am not getting it for the price, I will just cancel and my wallet will be happy!
  7. Just ordered a the Daiwa Steez SV TW in lefy 7.1:1 for 319 USD?! ? Let's see if this goes through. Would be a killer deal.
  8. Cleaned some of my reels' bearings yesterday and the trick with the electric tooth brush did work better than I thought. I saw quite a bit of stuff coming out of the bearings. The end result today on the water was not completely eye opening, so I think for now I am going to stick with the aceton + toothbrush approach. Thanks all!
  9. Hi guys, I would like to clean my bearings thoroughly and I would like to get some opinions on ultrasonic cleaners and also how you use them exactly. Much appreciated! Thanks, Seb.
  10. Megabass does not seem to be excluded, but the code does not work.. Correct myself - it works
  11. Cant neither confirm nor deny that. I think it is a more versatile reel that shines from (a hair over 1/16th) to 1oz lures. Anything above 1/2 oz is probably more for pitching/flipping techniques with heavy line and short distances. For your described techniques, I think that reel would be a winner.
  12. Never used that reel, so no experience. I am hearing very good reviews of the Alpha CT SV. It also has some decent line capacity for 7-10# line. I think plat has them on sale right now. Also there is one on sale in the tackletour forum
  13. Oh yes! Perfect Nedrig combo in my opinion. It can also throw: * weightless plastics * Little poppers * 2.8 in keitechs * Little jerkbaits If you are on a 'budget' look at the Alpha CT SV instead of the Steez. A little bit heavier but basically same performance
  14. I disagree with that. I also have the Steez sv tw and the later has a limit of 1/8 oz. The CT version is going far into the BFS domain for me. Yes, it is cheaper now. I paid a premium because I bought right when it came out.
  15. My personal thoughts/experience: I own a NRX852c and run it with a Steez CT SV (you can also run the Alpha CT SV) and 8 pound fluro. That combo cost me almost 1000 USD but if you combine it with the Alpha CT it is below 600 USD. For that money you can get a VERY nice spinning combo. As you, I am trying to get away from spinning where I can because it is just not as much fun to me. The combo is super light, well balanced and VERY sensitive! To add to this, the combo is capable of throwing 1/16oz jigs with tiny trailers about 15-20 yards (without much accuracy to be honest). With an 1/8oz lure the combo becomes very accurate. Also, I got the rod for 375 USD shipped for the NRX (it is not a 500 USD rod!).
  16. I is absolutely! I use my Steez A for other things (heavy jigs and paddle tail swimbaits) but it can def be used for frogging. The bigger spool will help you here in two ways: 1. Bigger spools tend to be better casters with heavier weights. 2. It will hold more (heavier) line I would go with the 8.1:1 version from Digitaka!
  17. In my opinion: The More than is absolute the smoothest reel. Again, the bantam did not feel bad. It just left this slight metallic feeling that brass gears do in my opinion. Handle and handle knobs also feel better in my opinion. Can't go wrong with the bantam for 267 usd shipped. Digital is a trusted site. It takes less than a week for my order to arrive. Cheers
  18. I had the 2016 Antares DC and now have the 2018 Antares DC MD. The later has a big spool so it is perfect for putting heavier line on it. Mine is sitting currently in its box, since I dont have a use for it. But might be going on my frogging rod if I find a better use for the Morethan. Great reel but consider the weight for frogging since it you frog all day, the weight of your combo will take a toll on your wrist and arm.
  19. Fair enough. To be fair, you could run the Morethan spool with 50 pound braid and still get a good amount on it. Just to put this into perspective, since I dont just want to recommend expensive toys. I have a Antares DC MD, Steez SV TW, Steez CT SV TW, Steez A, Conques 401 and none of them is as smooth as the 2019 Morethan. To be fair though. The 6.3 Curado K is incredibly smooth (regardless of price) as well. It is just a lot of fun to fish with the Morethan. Would I wait another month and save up for it? Sure would do!
  20. I am sure that they are smooth. Try a 2019 Morethan 8.6 and then we talk again
  21. 267 USD shipped on digitaka. Well, dont want to start a non necessary discussion here. To me it was a good step behind some other reels I own. Happy if it is the best for you, this will save you a LOT of money.
  22. That might be the case. But I have NEVER heard anybody claim that the Bantam was smoother than a Steez, a Conquest or Antares. After all the Bantam is 'just' a 240 USD reel. To be honest though, I felt that my Curado K was smoother. Again, my experience seems to be confirmed by some of the reputable youtubers out there.
  23. I can only add both thumbs up for the recommendation of the 8.6 Morethan. I am using mine (with a Steez A spool for more line capacity) on my Steez XBD frog rod. AMAZING combo. Played with the idea to put my Steez A on it, but I think the Morethan is just another beast with the bronze gears. My smoothest reel (smoother than Antares DC, Steez SV TW, etc.), casts a mile and is just a work horse with the large handle. I would not use a Metanium (the gears are just not sturdy enough in my opinion) and the Bantam just does not have line capacity in my opinion if one runs anything heavier than 50pound braid and likes to bomb cast frogs. I tried the Bantam and it did not feel very smooth, nevertheless a decent reel, just would not be my first choice.
  24. For me the handle knobs, the better spool an the ability to switch spools more easily with other reels, made it the right buy. Got mine for 200 USD shipped new, so 50 USD was worth it to me.
  25. HI all, I am currently running the Okuma TCS 7'3 heavy (1/2oz -2 oz) as my frog rod. What i have noticed is that the rod is a bit underpowered when I am fighting bigger fish or fish in heavy cover. The ideal specs for such rod for me would be: * Max length 7 foot * fast/extra fast tip in order to be able to throw lighter frogs and still be able to 'walk-the-dog' them * well balanced with a 6.5+ oz reel * robust Thanks for your ideas and recommendations!
