MGXtreme2 Size vs. Aldebaran?
Oh lol. That is true. I bought another one and I am not exactly sure where to best put it.

MGXtreme2 Size vs. Aldebaran?
I would compare the size of my MGEXTREME 2 with my Aldebaran BFS. What are you using your MGEXTREME for?

What is your favourite reel in your arsenal
If I had to choose one reel I would probably go with the Steez SV TW. Since it is really good at a lot of things. But, I love to pick up other reels because they either look nicer than the others, feel nicer or can do specific things that just this one reel can do.

Am I stupid to buy a Steez A and swap the spool with my new Morethan?
I need a new reel as well. So was wondering to hit two birds with one stone. Probably a more expensive stone that I need to.. But again its fishing.

Am I stupid to buy a Steez A and swap the spool with my new Morethan?
Hi all, I have the new Morethan that I am using on my heavy Jig rod with 16# Fluro. Great reel and works and looks beautifully with my Steez XBD Frog rod. Only little prob that I have is that the line capacity on the Morethan's stock spool is a bit on the low side. Since I want to get a new reel for my 1/2oz Jig rod I am considering buying a Steez A 8.1:1. I would then swap the spool of the Steez A with the spool of the Morethan, since the Steez A's should hold quite a bit more line. I am wondering if there is anything that I should be aware of before making this switch. The Morethan's spool looks a bit different (it seems to have added 'stabilizers', if I understand this correct). Any thoughts? Thanks all!

Which reel?
Is there a difference between this https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-pro-qualifier-2-limited-edition-baitcast-reel and https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-pro-qualifier-2-baitcast-reel ? Would get one just to put in the car as a backup for that price.

"Best" Jig rod for 1-1.5oz jigs
Yep, probably the right thought on this. I would indeed consider myself a Enthusiast. And I am willing to (and have) spend 500 usd on reels and rods. But it has to make sense and it has to provide adequate perform. For example I just recently bought a NRX and I do think that it is another step up from my ZBone. For reels. I think the 130 USD curado K is pretty close to my 500 usd Conquests. I am always curious to see how I can improve my set ups and love to get the input from the community on these thought exercises. I am happy that these products work for you. To be fair though, all of these fish could have been caught on 20 usd combos as well. My high end gear does NOT make me a better fisherman! I have a friend who is sponsored by quantum and hence I had the chance to fish a variety of their products. Of course it is a different price class, but to me there is just no comparison between a quantum smoke reel and let's say even a curado K (not even talking about Steez, Antares, etc). Again, no digging on your experience. At times I wish I would just be happy with less costly gear. Would save me lots and lots of money! ;)))

"Best" Jig rod for 1-1.5oz jigs
Thanks guys! I dont dislike Quantum products, but it is fairly close to it. All the products that i have had and fished with were very poor quality in my opinion.

"Best" Jig rod for 1-1.5oz jigs
Yeah, you have a point here! That is another consideration if it turns out that my gain for the jig combo (upgrading from the Steez frog rod) are minimal!

"Best" Jig rod for 1-1.5oz jigs
Hi all, what are you guys thinking is the 'best' Jig rod for these types of lures? For me best is defined by: A) Sensitivity Balance of the rod C) Weight of the rod D) Casting accuracy I am currently running the Daiwa Steez XBD Frog Rod rod as my dedicated big jig rod. And I am pretty happy with it. I am playing around with some ideas to move the Steez to become my dedicated frog rod (since my actual frog rod is a bit underpowered when throwing a frog on mats and into cover). So, just curious to see what you guys would think is the best here? Thanks & Cheers!

Steez A vs chronarch
I also had the Metanium. But sold it over like 4 months once it started to get geary. I think the Metanium is a nice reel for the first 3 months. Then in my experience (I have seen others confirm this) it gets geary (though I deep cleaned it). Also the coating requires a lot of attention. Once the silver coating is chipped the reel looks ugly imo. The reel sits also a bit higher in the reel seat in comparison to the steez and chronarch. The Shimano MGL reels have a slight advantage in throwing light lures (anything around 1/4 oz). I personally would not consider the Metanium anymore (and I usually love my Shimanos: I have 2 Conquests, 1 Antares MD DC, 2x Curado K and a Chronarch MGL). If you do not throw super light lures (basically if you stay 3/8oz and above) and if weight is not the most critical thing, then I would actually recommend you to go with a Curado K. You can pick them up on sale for like 130 USD on ebay. I do not think that the Chronarch is 2x better than the Curado K. The literally only benefit that I see for the Chronarch is weight. You are a young guy, that should not bother you. Also the K looks cooler

Line recommendation for jig fishing
Given that you are fishing water with heavy(ier) cover I would actually recommend you to go to something like 16-20 pound fluro (either straight or with braid backing). #12 is not enough in my opinion.

Steez A vs chronarch
I have both. I would go with the Steez A. They are both nice reels, the Chronarch just does not hold up as well as the Steez does. For me the increased line capacity is also an advantage. I have to say though that I am VERY impressed by th Curado K!. Not just for the money. In general. The reel is as smooth as my Antares DC. Consider picking up another Curado instead. The Steez A has the following advantages: * Lighter * In my hands better ergonomics * Better finish * variability with spool options In my opinion this is NOT worth 3 x the price... Cheers.

Which one.....Daiwa Steez, Shimano Antares, or Shimano Calcutta Conquest
I have all of the reels that you have listed. As a general all around reel the Steez A (or the new Morethan) are hard to beat. The Conquest and Antares are also VERY nice reels, they are just a bit more specific based on the frame size/form and spool size. Cheers.

Metanium MGL/ Steez SV TW
I would go with the Steez. I have had both. The Steez is smoother, holds up over time better and also holds more line. For me (larger hands) it palms just a lot better as well. Additional benefit is the ability to skip with the Steez. I would recommend the 7.1:1 version though. The 8- version is too quick for moving baits in my opinion and the spool is also too shallow. I would recommend that reel for finesse applications. Hop that helps a little.

Which line for NRX 852c?
Hi all, just made the purchase of my first NRX. A 852c. I am super excited. I will be pairing the rod with a Abu Garcia MGEXTREME 2. I am wondering what line you would be recommending to use? The techniques that I will be using are: 1. Ned Rig 2. Worms and 1/8 - 1-4 oz Jigs 3. Jerkbaits I was thinking of 7 or 8 pound Sunline Shooter, since I want the best sensitivity from the line. Wondering if I should run straight fluro, or should I do a braid to fluro set up? What braid would you recommend here? I have seen some negative reports on the recoil guides getting damaged on the NRX, so I am a bit worried. Sensitivity and reduced visibility are my priorities. Thanks for your advice!

Please help me choose my first NRX! :)
Yep, handled both the 852 and the 853. The 852 will be my first NRX. It is quite a bit softer than the 853 (which is too close to my ZBONE). Just need to shop a bit around and the NRX will be mine! Thanks all for the guidance.

Please help me choose my first NRX! :)
Thanks Tom! Yeah, I am not paying full retail (25% less than that). I am wondering if the 853C is too overlapping with my ZBONE...

Please help me choose my first NRX! :)
I would prefer a shorter rod, or is there a killer argument to go with the 893C? Thanks

Please help me choose my first NRX! :)
Hi all, I have decided to buy my first NRX and need a bit help deciding which one to go with. I would like to use the NRX from anything like a weightless Senko, Texas rigs, 1/4oz Jig and also Jerkbaits like a Vision 110. NRX candidates are: * 802C JWR * 803C JWR * 852C JWR * 853C JWR I also would like the rod to work in combination with my 2018 ZBONE Medium - Heavy, 7'6 (which is rated for 1/4 - 1oz lures). I am throwing 3/8- 5/8 oz Jigs and paddle tail swimbaits on it. I would match the NRX with 10# Fluro and the Abu MGXTREME 2. Thanks for your thoughts!
