  1. Does anyone know who has President's Day sales and generally how much off they are?
  2. Okay, so I'm looking into a small manual downrigger like a Cannon EasiTroll. I've never operated a downrigger in my life so wondered what a good beginner rod and reel would be? The downrigger I'm looking at is used for about $125 so i don't want to go spending another $200 on a rod and reel. The depths I'll be trolling would rarely approach 100ft. and most likely between 25 - 60ft. I'm after bass but if I can get some laker's I wouldn't mind either.
  3. My local DSG is loaded! Tons of tackle, rods and reels. They have definitely gone Googan as they have practically every Googan bait made in every color. Just about every peg full too, tons of plastics, cranks, jigs and spinnerbaits with a decent amount of top water mixed in as well (although not too many frogs other than Z-Man and Googan). They ARE a little pricier then most online stores but they do price match and you don't have shipping. Guess I'm lucky my DSG is still selling fishing gear!
  4. Consoles seem a little different though, Sony has been running the PS4 for about 5 or 6 years now (maybe even 7)...they don't tend to introduce something new every year like say an iPhone so I'm pretty confident that by Spring or so when the newness has worn off a little and when Sony floods the market with them like they say they're going to that I'll be able to snag one. Patience is a virtue .
  5. Nobody likes a smart ass .
  6. Let's keep this thread active, if any of you who are also trying to get a PS5 actually gets one post it here to give us unlucky dogs who are still trying some hope .
  7. I actually think Kast King makes some decent products so I don't know if including them in the same group as these reels is fair. Kast King has excellent customer service too!
  8. 6TH Sense makes some of the finest baits on the market! They come stock with quality hardware and their paint jobs rival that of Megabass as the best in the biz. I stocked up at the end of last season so I can't tell you how well they perform but I've heard from enough people who I respect that love them @Bluebasser86 to know that they are some of the best bang for your buck baits out there. I stocked up on Movement 80x, Curve 55, Flat 75x, swim jigs, Catwalk, Quake Thud lipless and I plan on getting some Quake suspending lipless too.
  9. Oh he has plenty of those too but have you ever tried telling your 10 year old to put down the video games and go read a book...lol. I try numerous times and sometimes it works but most often I'd have to pry the controller out of his hands :).
  10. Oh believe me, I am kicking myself for not pre-ordering. I try ALL of the web sites, Walmart, Target, Gamestop, Best Buy, Newegg...all of them to no avail. I hadn't heard that. The games seem to be readily available both online and in stores. Demons Souls looks awesome and I've heard it's an incredible game. The rest of the games have PS4 versions as well, my son got the new Spiderman:Miles Morales game from Santa and he loves it (it is pretty darned cool).
  11. I refuse!!! No way I'm paying a scalper one red cent. I thought I found a legitimate guy selling one just before Christmas...lucky thing I paid using PayPal as he was a scammer and I reported it to PayPal and got my money back...what a lowlife!!!
  12. Oh I do but he isn't interested in ice fishing and we've got nothing but hard water right now where we live.
  13. I think it's more of a supply/demand issue here. With so many people forced to stay at home because of COVID (especially kids) the video game industry has never been so booming. Sony sold 10 million units between is launch date of November 12th and the end of 2020. A possible silver lining is that Sony has said they plan on sending 16 - 18 million units to the U.S. this year. I already told my son that we'll just have to wait it out and hopefully in a few months the newness will wear off and everyone who wanted one initially will have one and the stores will actually start stocking them IN STORE instead of online only OR Sony will just flood the market with them and scalpers will give up buying all they can because everyone who wants one will be able to get one themselves!!!
  14. JJ's can and will "explode" in the hot temperatures...the bottle it comes in is pressurized to make a good seal and keep it fresh but the heat expands that pressure and once it's all over everything including clothes and skin you'll play heck in getting rid of that smell (wife or significant other WILL make you sleep elsewhere...lol) but on the flip side if you have all the different colors out when it's hot and they explode you may stink to high heaven but at least you'll look pretty .
  15. Okay, here's my gripe. I have been trying to buy my son a new Sony Playstation 5 for about 4 months now. I have spent countless hours tapping the refresh button on my browser, have about 6 or 8 app alerts letting me know when someplace is getting more in stock and all to no avail. When stores get these in online they sell out in 2 seconds...yeah, you heard that right, by the time you click refresh again they are all gone. Sometimes it'll let you "add to cart" but another message will pop up saying the item hasn't really been added to your cart and due to high demand they are making you go through an additional step and waiting for the "add to cart" button to go active again before adding it to your cart for real but they never do. It just sells out again. People are using these illegal "bot" computer programs which are algorithms designed to scan every millisecond for anyplace that has these consoles in stock and immediately adds like 5 or 6 to their cart after which these scumbags turn around and sell a $500 video game system for $1,000 to $1,500...and they are getting those prices. That's how insanely popular this console is, you'd have a better chance at winning the MegaMillions then buying a PS5 at a store. I'm just going off on this now because I just got an alert that Walmart had them in stock today at 3pm and after trying 3 different times (the store release their stock in 10 minute waves) and having it sold out by the time my brain finished processing the refresh button push to my finger I just got really irritated and had to air my gripe out .
  16. Oh I know I'm pushing the limits which is why I plan on losing about 30lbs. before the Spring. I will only be going in lakes/ponds where motorized boats are not allowed. I don't plan on any river kayaking yet and when/if I do it will be a lazy river, not one with white water rapids. As for the boat being squirrelly...that's why I want to add stabilizers of some sort.
  17. I just bought a cheap Walmart special last Fall, a 10ft. Lifetime Tamarack angler sit-on-top. I'm a big guy at almost 260lbs. and that boat has a weight limit of 275lbs. I plan on losing weight before fishing season begins so I don't weigh it down as much and can fit more tackle with me. I'm not exactly known for my coordination or agility so I want that boat as stable as possible which is why I want to make some DIY stabilizers...especially for the hookset. I'll use them until get comfortable kayaking, I don't plan on making them a permanent part of the boat.
  18. Does anyone know who makes a floating tackle box in a 3700 size? I'm going to be new to kayak fishing this season and while I do plan on stabilizing it with some kayak stabilizers I still would like to be prepared in case i do overturn and everything spills out...want to make as many things as possible float so i don't have to worry about losing my stuff to Davy Jones Locker .
  19. Okay, so now that Black Friday sales have come and gone when does TW's 12 Days of Christmas sale start?
  20. Well, the season is officially done for me! I just spent the afternoon winterizing the boat, put Sta-Bil Marine fuel stabilizer in the tank and ran it for 15 minutes to make sure the stabilized gas got up into the motor and fuel lines, fogged the carbs until she puked and sputtered to a stop, removed the plugs and sprayed some fogging spray in there too, unhooked and removed starter battery and trolling motor battery, removed fish finder and of course brought in all my rods/reels and tackle for the winter. So long 2020, don't let the door hit ya' in the arse on your way out!!!
  21. Not that you do but if somebody wears prescription glasses and is looking for a fit-over pair of sunglasses I highly recommend Cocoons at $45. I have two pair and both work very well, don't make you look like you're wearing Elton John glasses either :).
  22. Do the fish glow in the dark
  23. Well, we just had our first snowstorm of the season, got about 6” of snow last night and today and the high temp was 32 degrees. Now it is supposed to be in the low 60’s starting Thursday but that’s good weathers last gasp and the highs after next Thursday are in the low 40’s with lows in the upper 20’s/low 30’s. I won’t have a chance to get out fishing most likely so I’m thinking of winterizing the boat this weekend while it’s good weather, putting the rods, reels and tackle up and calling it a turbulent, crazy, fun and disappointing season and wait for next year and hope for less craziness and a better fishing season!
  24. Yup, I do have a couple of the Antidotes...one in Trout and one in Perch colors. I haven't had a chance to try them out though as my family (like a lot of families I'm sure) has had a difficult year due to COVID and also my mother-in-law who lived with us passed away suddenly/unexpectedly this spring and she helped us watch our son. We also had a new baby boy in February right before everything went to hell and without my mother-in-law to help us we've been non-stop trying to juggle work, watching the kids, keeping up the house etc., been a real struggle to find time to get out much this year (maybe 6 - 8 times) .
  25. Yeah, that sort of takes the point out of open water glide bait though...you're supposed to chuck those as far as you can so you have a long retrieve over "open water". I think I'll stick with 8" and below baits for the rod I have now. I like the S-waver 200 but $46 is too rich for my blood. I just about cried when I bought a $30 bait (I know my wallet did...lol), can't imagine spending $16 more and if I lost a $46 bait to a snag or line break I really would cry . I would like to try a Huddleston though in the 8" ROF 5 which is just over 4oz., what do you think of that? If it's still overtaxing my rod I'll just look towards the 8" Magdraft and 4D Pulsetail's.
