  1. Well, considering we just got 3" of snow last night and today's high temp is supposed to be 28 degrees I'm thinking my season is just about done until next Spring.
  2. Well, here is a list of my baitcast setups: iRod 7'5" Heavy/Fast w/Daiwa Tatula CT Type-R, 8.1:1 spooled with 50lb. Power Pro; 7'3" Dobyn's Fury 735C, Mag Heavy/Fast w/Shimano Curado DC, 7.4:1 spooled w/65lb. Sufix 832; 7'3" Dobyn's Fury 734C Heavy/Fast w/Shimano Curado i, 7.2:1 spooled w/17lb. Sunline Defier Armilo; 7' Daiwa Tatula XT Medium/Fast w/Daiwa Tatula SV, 7.3:1 spooled w/20lb. Seaguar Red Label; 7' Abu Garcia Veritas Winch 2.0 Medium/Moderate w/Daiwa Fuego CT 6.3:1 spooled w/12lb. Seaguar Abrazx; 7' Berkley Lightning Rod Shock, Medium-Heavy/Moderate-Fast w/13 Fishing Concept Z (brand new reel...currently unspooled), 7.3:1, 6'10" Shimano SLX Medium/Fast w/Shimano SLX, 7.2:1 spooled w/12lb. Sunline Super Natural; 6'6" Berkley Lightning Rod Shock Medium/Moderate-Fast w/Shimano SLX, 6.3:1 spooled w/30lb. Power Pro. Wow, the wife may be right...I have too much fishing gear...lol...don't tell her that guys!!! Anyhow, I also have a 7' Dobyn's Colt Medium-light/Fast spinning rod w/Pflueger President Limited Edition reel that I could use. With our season up here in the North quickly coming to an end I might be able to get out one more time...which of those setups would be better suited to the small finesse style spinnerbaits etc.?
  3. What do you use for small spinnerbaits like maybe 1/4oz.? I'm thinking they definitely have to be thrown on a spinning setup and was thinking of using my 7ft. Medium/Fast Shimano Clarus with my Daiwa Regal reel that has 20lb. braid with an 8lb. fluoro leader. These spinnerbaits I'm talking about are the Booyah Pond Magic...I'm thinking they would be perfect for late Fall smallmouth.
  4. I've been wanting to try these out... https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-FREEHJ.html?from=basres
  5. DSG is having a Flash Sale today until 10pm. I guess Live Target lures doesn't sell well for them, seems like the past 2+ months they've had Buy 1 get 2 Free sales on all their Live Target baits (accept the frogs which actually do work well) in every weeks Flash Sale...that's pretty sad, when you can't get people to buy a bait even when they're getting 3 for the price of 1 .
  6. The problem with transition lenses when I had them was when it was super sunny out they'd get real dark and then when you went inside it'd take a couple minutes before theycleared up and you could see anything.
  7. I am just getting used to what they call Progressive Lenses in my glasses...it's a fancy name for bi-focals (well, there's probably some differences but the jist is the same). These aren't just for older guys either, I'm 46 years young. I need them to tie knots...it was getting really hard to see...lol. For sunglasses I wear Cocoons Fit-Overs which work extremely well, are polarized, come with a lifetime warranty and only cost about $50.
  8. Kittery Trading Post has the St. Croix Mojo Bass 7'4" Heavy/Big Cranker glass crankbait rod on sale for $89 shipped.
  9. In that price range I would say Shimano SLX in a 6.3:1. Amazon.com also has the 13 Fishing Concept Z in the 6.6:1 for $105...that was a $200 reel when it first came out. I just grabbed the LH version and it is one sweet looking reel, very comfortable in hand too. Good luck with whatever you decide!!!
  10. If money wasn't an object I would be throwing mostly Megabass Vision 110+1's but at $25 per bait I have way too many lakes/ponds around me that have toothy critter in them and could make a $25 jerkbait disappear in a hurry.
  11. I just got some of the Spro McStick 110's...haven't used them yet but they are definitely quality and cost around $10. They look super sweet too with those "mean" eye's .
  12. I guess but one would think they would have labeled the rods to begin with instead of just listing the power.
  13. I have a 7ft. MH Lightning Rod Shock (with the split cork grips),it seems to have a softer tip but I was wondering if anyone knows for sure what action this rod is (Moderate-Fast maybe)?
  14. I have some but haven't had a chance to use them yet. They look great...VERY reflective, can imagine they'll throw a lot of flash in the water to attract bites!
  15. Dude, you have 6 combos already and probably more tackle than you'll ever use, no they aren't top of the line but the fish don't care how much you spent on your gear. Use what you have for now...at least you have something. Your focus needs to be on the priorities in your life, your marriage and how to better your financial situation! After that things will take care of themselves...there will always be nice rods and reels for sale whether it's now or 5 years from now etc. You have to reassess everything and see which category they fall into, a want or a need...for now it sounds like you best be focusing on your needs ;). Just my .02, you're of course free to do as you wish. Good luck!!!
  16. Jerkbaits, shallow crankbaits, jigs, Spinnerbaits, topwater (walking style, poppers, wake).
  17. Get a Shimano Caenan 150 and a Daiwa Aird-X rod, should be able to find both for about $50 each. That would make a great budget friendly combo!
  18. So, would 17lb. Sunline Armillo Defier work? I have that already spooled on my Curadi I but I also have 15lb. Big Game too.
  19. I'm just looking for something a little bigger than like a 2.5 squarebill sized wake bait which is why I am interested in the I-Jack and the Chan Wake as they are a bigger profile bait.
  20. I have a Depps Buzzjet Jr., I'm looking for something a little different like the above two baits I mentioned.
  21. I would like a couple of wake baits but don't want a huge expensive one, has anyone got one of the Jackall Chan Wake's? How do you like it? At $20 that seems like my pricepoint for a wake bait. I'm also looking at the Megabass I-Jack.
  22. You really have no interest in visiting America's Last Frontier, Alaska? I've always wanted to go there for as long as i can remember...it just looks so amazingly beautiful. I'd love to see the Northern Light's up close
  23. Okay, got to admit...I would have pooped my pants and ran screaming like a little girl if I had turned around...of course if I had done that I would probably be dead...lol. https://www.foxnews.com/great-outdoors/brown-bear-photobombs-fishermen-alaska-wildlife-photographer
  24. Are you talking a swing jig head for bottom contact or a swing swim jig head like these...https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-FREEHJ.html?from=basres
  25. Well, it's Fall here in the North so the grass is dying down. I'd more think around wood/timber laydowns and just burning it through the water with occasional yo-yo's. I would prefer to use just one rod and have the ability to use both 1/2oz., 5/8oz. lures. I'll experiment with my Dobyn's setup and see, if I don't have any luck maybe I'll switch out to my regular crankbait setup.
