  1. There is a guy in my club that swears up and down by a brown jig with a purple trailer but I usually use green Pumpkin with a watermelon trailer. i think that it depends a lot on water clarity, light conditions, mood of the fish more than the trailer color.
  2. P-Line CX Premium, it does not hurt the wallet and is the strongest most sensitive line that i have. Lives up to all the claims on the box about memory etc.
  3. I just joined a club as a non-boater a few months ago and we fish all around the state of SC and it has been one of the best experiances of my fishing life. I have learned so much from my fellow club members it is insane. Also all of the guys in the club are extremely helpful and nice to each other lending rods, reels, lures to the others who dont have them. We are all competing against one another but we are all trying to help each other learn at the same time.
  4. They are not mushroom shaped but I use PJ's Bass Extractor jigheads for my worms, they have a wire hook in the head that holds the worms or whatever you use on the hook really well www.pjlures.com
  5. A few weeks ago I was fishing my local pond in my neighborhood that has mostly small fish in it and I was using a dropshot with a roboworm on it and just trying to catch anything. well about 30 minuites into the day my cell starts to ring right after I made a cast so I answer it and just keep shaking the worm and as soon as I get the phone up to my ear I feel the tap tap of a fish, so I use my on hand to half set the hook so I wolud not drop the phone. And as soon as I set the hook the rodd just bends over double and starts peeling drag so I drop the phone and try to tighten the drag but as my hand gets to tne reel the hook pops out and I'm left only wondering how big it could have been
  6. The tournament that our club had last weekend was even worse than that. Even though the water temp was in the high 40's the air temp at blastoff was a nice and toasty 14 degrees. and the fish were freezing to the measuring boards in some peoples boats PS And now 5 days later its sunny and 65
  7. For all of my finesse spinning applications I use a Shakespeare Dimension for about 35 bucks. I know that its made by shakespeare but it has not failed me yet. Basically it just looks exactaly like a Pflueger president with not as high of a quality paint job. It is very smooth and the drag handles flawlessly. I have the 5030 version and it handles everything from 5 lb stripers all the way down to bluegill and everything in between.
  8. ditto to the C-Rig because its just such a drag
  9. Of course color matters. The last tournament that out club had on santee two of our anglers were fishing the same cove with the same weight and type pf zoom worm and one caught 8lbs and won and the other caught 2lbs and did horribly. The difference the 8lbs was caught on Watermelon Red, and the 2lbs were caught on a junebug. Another tournament last month on Russell I was fishing a bold bluegill curl tail Roboworm and I was not catching anything. And about 2hours into using my roboworm/dropshot my boater catches on a purple smoke finesse worm. And he says that I could use one of the worms if I want because at least he had caught a fish on it. So I put one on and two casts later BAM I catch one "what a coincidence I'm thinking" and a couple more castd after that BAM I catch another one. Ha and some people say that color does not matter.
  10. Basically I see the whole game as an ad campaign for Rapala, with not much to do in the fishing aspect. but I do like how I can catch 56lb steelhead and kings in 4lb test and a ultralight rod by winching them in (horribly unrealistic)
  11. Mine is 125 gallons and I have two 1/2 lb bass and two 1/4 lb green sunfish in it and as long as you have enough cover for all the fish they should be fine. If you dont have enough cover then the dominant one will constantly chase the smaller one around and nip at it. also you dont have to feed them minnows all the time I give mine hot dogs or balogna for a snack sometimes Best 300 bucks that I have ever spent PM me if you have any questions
  12. Sight and Finesse fisherman I like to throw wacky worms and small plastics as limit baits but they sometimes catch a monster
  13. Crayfish and small minnows tend to turn to the color of the sorroundings and the bottom so try to choose something that closely matches the bottom that you are fishing Also crayfish change color depending on what season it is so you could do some online research to see if any colleges in the area have done any research on them
  14. Yeah it makes me mad to see people catch and keep fish that I would not even put in my fish tank but they say that if its big enough to get on the hook then it is big enough to keep
  15. Look under reelady's post Sponsorship Do's and Dont's this explains everything she says that past tournament almost has no effect, but it is how passionate you are for the company, and how well you know their products, etc, etc
  16. Hey Ive always wanted to be a blade of grass on a football field ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D THANKS GUYS
  17. Black zoom finesse worm rigged wacky style on a red 1/0 finesse widegap hook
  18. Didnt some company tag a whole lot of bass and let them go and if you catch one its like worth 25,000 or something
  19. Since the fish are revealing themselves by attacking the buzzbait and you tried slowing down I would use a wacky rigged senko and throw it to the places where the bass blew up on your buzzbait and there is a good chance you will catch those short strikers
  20. The biggest thing that I always pay attention to is Temperature because if you are fishing shallow in 40 degree water or fishing deep in 65 degree water you probably arnt going to catch anything. There are 6 main seasons that I pay attention to Winter- 48 and below Bass are deep and sluggish Prespawn- 48-55 Bass are staging on points waiting for higher temp Spawn- 55-70 easy enough Postspawn- 70-75 Bass go on feeding binges to regain energy Summer- 75-90 Bass are deep and sluggish Fall- 75-55 Go on feeding frenzys to last them through the winter
  21. Since you are on the water you usually have the luxury of being able to hear the thunder and see the clouds earlier than if you were sorrounded by trees so you should leave before the storm is on top of you. Also you should just wait the storm out in a safe place then go out afterwards. In SC where we just get pop up 30 min showers I like going out after them because there is no boat traffic to disturb the fish and make them skittish.
  22. Local boys Jason Quinn and Davy Hite
  23. If he would come down from TN and fish in South Carolina on Lake Wateree and see if he can pull out a 5lb er every cast
  24. Mine would have to be in one of those private lakes that Bill Dance fishes in for his tv shows
  25. I really learned some things from the KVD pitchin to heavy hitters and he really broke it down for people to easily understand but I just wish that they had had some high speed cameras or more angles so I could see what he is doing with the jig. how he drops it, when he starts to lift the rod, etc
