I now know how a Jig bite CAN feel like
http://www.handgunplace.com//images/bass/jig1/finessejig.html http://www.bassresource.com/fish/jigs.html and fishinaz Congrats on your JIG BASS now you see why I fish a jig most of the time I am out:) thanks i'll try it. what do think i need for my pond? size? color? and traler? Start small as I have done in the pics in the article 1/8 to 1/4 ounce is all I toss if the water is under 10 feet deep This gives them a nice slow fall also match the trailer color to the jig (again as in the pics) remember the best color bass can see under 90% of conditions is black so I would start with a black jig or black blue and a black trailer those zoom swimmin chunk trailers work well on small jigs post pics of your first jig bass and good luck .. my finesse jigs are only brown or black no other colors for me in them and they work well

Ridiculous amounts of weeds
In this crap I use a weird rig but it works needed bobber split shots hook of choice and a stick bait I take said stick bait and rig it so when it is in the water it will be floating just over the weeds underneath about 1/2 way down ill rig 4 or 5 split shots (between bobber and bait) and then just launch it out... and let the weights pull the stick bait through the crap the bobber will not let the bait go down and you should catch fish I read about this tip in bassmaster mag last year and have used it to much success in weedy sloppy areas

I bought a new bait now what???
I bought a new bait now what??? Now this day and age with everyone working long hard hours, and other things that life tosses at us, people do not get out on the water and spend as much time as they would like to so they can learn things properly. Once you purchase a bait try to find info about it, as much info as you can. The first step to this is to figure out how to rig said bait, (even today 2006) People are still asking how do you fish or rig a senko?? Now there is a wealth of information here on the main site http://www.bassresource.com/fish/bass_fish.html Take a few minutes to read, as this is knowledge from people who have put the time in on the water which sorry to say, is what it takes. What I have always done is after getting new bait I fish said bait 90% of the time for at least 5 or 6 fishing trips. I will fish that said bait any which way I have read about, fish it anywhere I can And use it under situations it probably was not designed for and sometimes it pays off , and sometimes it does not but you have to go out and try. An example of this was a few years back I was sent a buzz bait to test out. My 3rd trip out to the lake, it was bluebird skies and very windy water temp was up in the 80's and I only had said buzz bait. (Not your ideal textbook time to toss buzz bait) I landed 12 bass that day under those conditions on that buzz bait. The thing is I learned for 6 trips to only use buzz bait I used it everywhere Pads, weeds, 2 of water 40' of water, clear water, dark water, sunny, overcast, you get the picture. I think the internet is a valuable resource for everyone to learn and share info and I am glad to live in the times we are living in. But Nothing is going to help you out as much as reading the basics then going out and putting time on the water and getting hands on experience yourself. Then take it to the next level and share your information with others. And this forum alone is a valuable tool for that Everyone here seems to be able to share something with someone to help them in their ways, and that is why BASS fishing in particular is such a great sport. I would just like to say a big thanks to everyone who has ever helped me in the past, and an advanced thanks to all those whose tips will help me in the future. But the bottom line is still Learn how to rig, where to use, and the basics, and then just get out on the water and fish

How does a Jig Bite Feel?
I fish a Jig about 70% of the time much Great advice above.... Maybe before you go drop shotting with the jig, Just tie on a jig and fish the jig alone for a solid week, force yourself to fish it 100% of the time you will then have your answer... MY theory is force yourself to learn a bait by only going out and fishing that said bait for at least 4 to 6 trips. ( then again i have had to do this for the past 5 years while i was doing lure reviews )

Dropshot/jig rig
1. Is this technique used soley on a Spinning outfit,or can it be used on a baitcaster as well? Both 2. What size jig do you use? The WalMart here sells the finesse Jigs with trailers made by FLW. Would those jigs work or should a standard size jig be tried? Whatever size you want I stick to the small 1/8 ounce ones here just enough to get it down there 3. Which bait do you focus on working more? The jig or the dropshot bait? Would focusing on just the dropshot bait create enough action to make the jig have a good presentation, and on the other hand ,if I work just the jig, wouldnt that be too fast a movement for the dropshot bait. Help me out here please as I have stated I have never used a jig work the drop shot and with a trailer on the jig that little twitch will empart enough action on the jigs trailer 4.This is just a general jig question. Is it necessary to use a pork trailer or trailer of some other sort on the jig or can the jig just be fished alone? I always toss a jig with a trailer see the picture above 5. What are the differences in the using the jig VS. just a bell sinker. I have lost alot of sinkers while dropshotting. Is the jig just as likely to get hung up? I can live with losing a bag of bell sinkers as I can find then all over the lake shore, but jigs well losing them frequently thats a different story. jigs are suprisingly weedless and if you loose to many and feel its not worth it $$ wise go back to the sinker 6. I have noticed on a few of the Bass I have caught on dropshot, have crawfish antenna hanging out thier throats,Guess a jig might up the ante after all? Heck its worth a shot and if it increases the chances of catching fish then why not...Im still kinda floored and find it to be a brilliant idea of using the jig on the end of a dropshot. ;)

Getting Burned out
I was in the same boat about june last year.. I saved up got a small canoe, trolling motor, fish finder and the required other stuff, I slap the canoe on top of my car and away I go It is not huge bass boat but it took my spell ( same as you are having) right away all for under 700$ I can get into places the big boats cant and we have landed loads of nice fish I have been taking time off tournaments and just learning to use my own fish finder and finding fish, areas on lakes i never knew were there ( because i was always on someone elese boat and they chose the spots) and it has been a blast I do not know what your budget is but let me say it has opened up a whole new world for myself and my son and we enjoy the heck out of it here is a small gallery i tossed up http://www.handgunplace.com/images/2005_canoe_trips/index.htm believe me it beats shore fishing

Weather question
When I shore fish, if the storm is moving in and I really want to fish, I just head for the car, an wait out the storm. Then after I rig up 1 pole with a jig and the other with a buzz bait or a spook and head back out.. I love fishing after a rain.
