  1. I spent most of the winter practicing, my wife is sick of me knocking cans down in the house.
  2. I was actually looking at ordering some of their jigs, couldn't make up my mind on what I wanted so I ordered the random jig pack. Im sure that I wont be disappointed.

  4. I have a similar question, figured that I'd ask on here instead of starting a whole new thread. Due to extreme changes in temperature around here lately Im not entirely sure if even going out is worth it. For example we're supposed to get some snow tomorrow morning (01/22/16) but its supposed to be in the mid to high 60's by Saturday. Would that sudden temperature change get the bass moving around more by the weekend?
  5. 2015 was the year of the dink, don't think I caught anything over 2lbs. Im pretty optimistic about this year.
  6. Congrats, I wish I could go out fishing but the weather here has been insane.
  7. Anyone have or has heard of anyone using the Quantum KVD Baitcast Combo? MSRP is $129.99, but one of the local Wal-Mart's has a couple on clearance, I have looked around for some reviews online but haven't found anything solid. Any and all replies will be greatly appreciated. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Quantum-KVD-Baitcast-Combo/22172335
  8. Couldn't of said it better, I do like the elaztech but they sure are finicky
  9. I have the combo as well, works great, you cant go wrong for the price.
  10. I got my wisdom teeth taken out when I was in the Army, sent me back to training as soon as they got me to stop bleeding. Im sure that you should be fine, just take it east with the painkillers.
  11. Most of the Walmarts in my area have a little "bargain bin" I can usually find some good stuff in them for under $2

Well I'm officially sold on the strike king rage craws, I have no real experience using soft plastics but I really have been eager to learn. My buddy and I decided to go on a quick fishing trip and I figured I'd dedicate todays trip to trying to figure it out. Started out with the baby brush hog (green pumpkin , blue flake T-rigged) and gave that a shot for a out an hour and a half with no luck. I decided to switch out to the rage craw (green pumpkin T-rigged), and after my 3rd cast I got a strike. No slight tap or thump, the bass hit it hard, I set the hook and landed the fish. 2 lbs, not abig fish by any means but still a fish. Let him back in the water and casted again, gave my reel one full crank before I felt it again, set the hook and landed another fish. About the same size, to make a long story short I ended up with 8 fish of similar size, and lost 4 while trying to set the hook. Needless to say I am very satisfied with how today worked out, not too shabby for a guy that has never really fished soft plastics. I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to share their knowledge on this site. It really has broadened my skills.
  13. I'm sure the weather being all over the place played a big role. It will be in the high 80's one day then rainy and in the 50's the next. Plus everyone I've talked to about that lake says it's tough fishing.
  14. My buddy and I decided to go to lake Mackenzie here in Texas since we were both off. I have never been to this particular lake before but my buddy has caught some nice black and hybrid bass. He fishes mainly soft plastics, baby brush hogs, and a variety of spoons. While I am a big crankbait and jig guy, we're not the greatest of anglers but we can deff catch fish. We had a real tough time even locating any bait fish, it wasn't until a few hours of nothingness that I was finally able to spot some crawfish out by a rock structure. He went to his brush hogs while I tied on a football jig with a zman turbo craw trailer, even then we only ended up with 2 fish a piece. None of them being over 1lb. So here I am sunburned and disappointed on how today turned out, on the plus side I did get to see some hawks pull out some decently sized fish out of the lake, at least someone got some good fish today.
  15. The strike king red eye are some of me favorite ones, as far as the hooks go most tackle shops have the trailer hooks. They will come with a little piece of tubing or something to keep the hook from flying off.
  16. Try a white spinner with a willow blade. Im also a big advocate for using a trailer hook.
  17. The strike king 1.5's work great, I like to make sure and put some gamakatsu hooks as I have had some issues with the hooks that they come with.
  18. I want to work on using soft plastics, I have no confidence in them. Probably get a canoe as well.
  19. I've tried the wacky and it just isn't working there. This pond is just different, I've caught more catfish on topwater than bass, I will deff try the dropshot, thank you all for the help.
  20. What kind of line are you using and if you can see them they can see you. Popular belief "here" is that bass cannot possibly be line shy , lure shy... but they can be I use trilene XL in green, it matches the water of almost all the ponds around here. As far as clothing goes most of my clothes are dark shades.
  21. So there is this small pond a couple of miles from my house that does nothing but frustrate me. I can see the bass swimming but despite my best attempts I can't seem to get their attention. I have tried everything I can think of crankbaits, lip less crankbaits, buzzbaits, and a variety of soft plastics to no avail. I fish the lures at a variety of techniques and speeds and still nothing. The only think I've been able to use is a white strike king red eye special spinner, even then all I get are dunks. Is there something that I'm overlooking? Any advise is greatly appreciated.
  22. I've been a long time lurker and finally decided to make an account and introduce myself. I've been fishing for a few years but have just recently made the move from live bait to plastics and hard baits. The learning process has been a little frustrating but it's coming along.
