MICE!!!!!!!!!
Buy Rat poison they sell them in bags but they are little blocks. Spread them around your boat and in the Barn. I even have a few in the engine compartment. They smell good to the little * and they eat those first and die. As to being safe get a cut off switch for your battery and pull it every time you park the boat. Your charger can still stay plugged in but no power will get to the boat at all . Everyone should have one of those, stuff shorts out for no reason and you can do a lot of damage or even burn the boat down.

Repair time
I buy and rebuild and sell boats for a hobby. I just replaced and entire floor on a 20 ft Wellcraft. I looked around for an alternate solution to the floor and did not find one. I used 3/4 inch plywood but did not get the standard or marine I went with a Hardwood instead. It was the best wood I could get. I sealed it on the bottom before putting it in and of course fiberglass and gelcoat on the top, it pretty much should last forever. If you have leaks now make sure that foam is dry. I could not get this one dry so I had to pull every bit of it out and replace. That is one hell of a job getting that stuff out so good luck. Also I have never changed out a transom and I hear it is one tough job so good luck with that.

Sealing new Boat Floor
They are my boats that I buy to rebuild and sell as a hobby. I always keep the best and or fastest ones so I have a good bass and ski boat. This one is a little bigger and has an 8 cyl engine so if it is faster then the VIP I rebuilt in the past and still have I will sell the VIP and keep this one. If it is slower I will sell it. But going with a proven product is no doubt a great case to make. I ordered a small can today and going to test it on small pieces. I called them they say it will work great but when I mentioned I had to put glue on top of it for the carpet they claimed they had not tested that yet.

Sealing new Boat Floor
So I rebuild boats and have replaced sections of flooring before but this one I chose to rip the entire floor out and remove all the foam (what a pain that was) anyway this weekend I am going to put in the new floor, marine plywood, and drill and pour the new foam. With that said when I am done with that I have to seal it. I know the standard way to do it is with Fiberglass Resin and or Epoxy. I am thinking of instead using Flex Seal. I have used their spray before but now you can buy it in gallons and spread it on with a roller. It will seal for sure and I am also sure it will not crack. Any thoughts about using this product for this application?

Well, I think I may have found a new boat. :)
I am 55 have owned a lot of boats. New and used, I have 3 right now. Bass Boat and two ski boats. I buy them when they are ready for the farm and strip them down to the floor and rebuild them. When I am done I sell them unless I feel they are a better boat then what I have now. With that said, I have also owned brand new boats, nothing like getting a new boat or car I guess for that matter. They run great they smell great and they look very cool. Now that I have rebuilt several and know how easy it is I dont think I would but a new one again. If cash is no option then I would just throw 40-60k out there and get a new one just for the fun of it. I met a guy, 30's out at the lake the other week. He had a brand new boat with all the trimmings. I asked what he paid for it and he did not answer but to tell me 700 a month. That is why I dont buy new. I use mine a lot. Few times a week as long as the weather is good. For me that payment, even with being able to afford it, does not make sense to me. Lots of great used boats out there that could last for years to come. But if you have already bought it congrats. I know the feeling of bringing home a new boat or going out on the lake the first time it is a great feeling, enjoy!

Crack transom
Dont walk away run, I buy and rebuild boats for spare cash. Even with a totally rotted floor I have never paid more then 1k and that is if the motor runs. Dont know where you live but here in the Dallas Tx area with 4k you can get a great bass boat. And for 2500 you can get a okay one.

2004 Triton TR 21 speed
You might look at weight and what the boat has inside it that can be taken out to increase speed. If it is not screwed down leave it at home and try. Even water that might be in the flooring or seats, let it sit in the sun and really dry out, lose all the extra stuff and give it a go. Good luck and be careful. Fastest I have ever gone on a boat was 86mph. My current boats are in the 50's but I am working on rebuilding one now and going to trick out the engine and I am making it as light as I can for speed. I am going with lightweight flooring, cabinets you name it. It is very cool to hit 80+

Foam under floor
So I have rebuilt dozens of boats and I have replaced flooring for several reasons but never messed with the foam. This time the one I am rebuilding forces me to not only replace the floor but also the foam. My only question is does anyone know a quick or easy way to get this stuff out. I am chipping away at it with a lawn tool. It is taking forever. Anyone got a suggestion on a tool or a solvent that might make this go faster? Thank you in advance.

Stay Away from Saltwater?
I had a place in Galveston for years, now I upon return my house, would flush the engine out for about five minutes and also would spray the heck out of the inside and out and also the trailer. It mattered not, I was still replacing this and that all the time. Even the electronics would have issues with connections and stuff Like the other guy said no reason to go down that road unless you have to.

Am I walking into a craigslist scam?
I buy and sell one two two boats and or jets skis at a time, depending when I can find them to fix them up. With that said I have run into this scam over and over. There is always some great story behind why they cant just pick up the phone and have you over and craigslist is the worst. But all in all it is what it is. I call the adds that have numbers and if they have weird area codes and or email only I just blow them off. They are always good deals and always 2k or less. If I can come over and see it, touch it and see the title I am out.

12 volt or 24 volt
You can get motors with a lot more thrust using 24v. Only draw back is when you have to buy new ones so keep care of them during the winter months when you dont use the boat so they are not dead come spring

Is it worth it?
I would say no, the carpet is trashed, no windshield (wait till you try to find one) my bet is the seats are not in good shape, no electronics I can see. You are looking at spending some real money here to get it to good shape. If the engine runs good I might give 2k for it knowing the work ahead and the cost of all the little stuff that never works on boats that look like this to start.

Floor Drain
No doubt a sub floor under there will be foam but I have found that 99 percent of the ones I have rebuilt will have a channel or what ever you want to call it under the sub floor down the center of the boat leading back to the battery area. You could call the manufacture and ask them before you drill but I would bet that area down the center is clear of any foam. Most have a wall to the left and right of the center that goes from the sub floor down to the hull. Lots of drains on amazon very cheap you dont need more than a 2 inch which is also a cheap hole saw drill bit to buy at lowes or home depot. The one I am doing now seemed to like to puddle on the left and right of center so I did drill left and ran into foam, I sealed the hole back up with the piece inside the hole saw and wound up using liquid nails in the large tube form to slope the flooring go pitch the water to the center where the drain is. You got to figure it out because standing water will ruin your carpet over time. As to to the fall and winter coming you want that boat dry and aired once covered for the winter or you will have mold and a crummy looking carpet come spring time. I even open every hatch and put a once inch wood block in them to keep them slightly open during the winter months and even in the summer to keep the inside of the hatches dry. I live in texas so there are a lot of bugs, spiders etc that want to nest in the boat so once a month I spray all the cabinet areas and all the places that bugs might like with a home boarder bug stuff to keep the little scoundrels out of there. Nothing worse than not using the boat for a month during the summer and taking the cover off hitting the lake to find a wasp nest being stirred up by the wind and boat movement same goes for the spiders. Plus all the bugs, mice and other animals around here want to eat the plastic off the wires. I treat mine like my living room when it is covered up.

How Problems And Aggravations Can Be A Good Thing.
It is a pain for sure but it is always better to find that stuff before you get out on the lake, I wont go through the list but just about anything can happen out there and I got something to fix it and get it back to the trailer. Speaking of which I have carried large zip ties and duck tape in my boat tool box forever. About two months ago I was out on my ski boat with a friend and when we got back I told him to stay in the boat and I wild fetch the trailer and truck. I got in line at the ramp and got out of the truck to have a cig and check the lights while the rookies in front of me attempted to load their boat on their trailer. Low and behold I notice the trailer looked weird. One entire board that the boat would rest on when loading had fallen off the brackets and was just laying there. I was like d**n it. Of course it is midnight and pitch dark I get a flashlight and everyone of the 6 bolts on the brackets had broken off. I went down to the ramp got the duck tape and wire ties put the flashlight in my mouth and went to work. Got the board secured in position and loaded the boat and went on down the road. The next morning I got under there and re drilled new holes and got it back to the way it was supposed to be. I think a lot of my friends, and I am guilty for sure, pay a lot of attention to their boats but not their trailer. I grease and check the bearings on the wheels each year but never mess with more on the trailer. I am going to put both of my boats on the lake, one at a time, next week and rebuild all the wood on both the trailers along with any and all hardware. I also bought a can of that seal stuff you see on tv all the time and after I get all the new bolts installed I am going to coat the bolts and the bracket areas with that stuff. This will never happen to me again.

Unique Pedestal Base Needed
My son has a welder over at his work but that would be the pole that you would not see, I want the base plate that is on the deck to be perfect. When I redid this boat I replaced everything you could see, carpet, trim, every screw, molding you name it. It looks like it is new and it is all stainless and every nut is stainless with the plastic inserts. I did it right. The last guy had the carpet over the bases so you could see a bump where they are. I did not like that.

Unique Pedestal Base Needed
Recently rebuilt my 89 Kingsisher 19ft, carpet, every screw cable and wire. Was fun, (NOT) any way the base for the rear Pedestal measures 2x6 inches. I could go longer like 2x7 or even more. It is placed in a space that wont allow me to go with the standard 7x7 it has and extension that goes down under the deck to the base of the hull in addition to bolting to the deck for support. I can weld or build a pole so that is not needed but I for the life of me through google, amazon you name it tried to find one with a width of 2 inches but can not find one. Done anyone have a suggestion of where to look. The original pole was rotted and the base it self is in good shape but the I can not pop the brass bushing out of it. I even tried to leave it in coals on the fire pit until the base was yellow and tried to pop it out but it aint budging. So bottom line does anyone know where i can get a base to mount on the deck that is 2x6 or 2x7 thanks in advance... It is always that one part that puts a giant halt on finishing up. Chris
