  1. I use Mann's worms a lot, I do prefer the Auger tail though. I've been using them since the early 80s, when I was six or seven years old. And yes, I do love that smell!
  2. You underestimate how much I have spent on ice fishing! Snowmobile, gas auger, trailer, proper clothing...
  3. Every December I put my boat away and go ice fishing, so I kinda feel your pain.
  4. Listen to reason (can't help it)-BPS probably gets more non-fishermen/hunters through their doors than Cabela's. Fifty dollar pink camo sweatshirts that say Cabela's fly off the shelves, while folks like us deliberate over which new reel to buy for months. I don't see BPS closing any Cabela's-the brand recognition is too strong.
  5. As a Buckeye, I viewed the Alabama game last year as the National Championship-and I will this year too. Looking forward to seeing the Iron Bowl and then watching the Tide obliterate UF in the SEC title game. For the record, LSU is my least favorite team in the SEC, with UF a close second. You guys know why.
  6. Nice video. Keep us posted on how your baits come out.
  7. A buddy of mine used a CD wallet for years.
  8. The jigs I pour are 95% Mustad, and a lot of that is price relative to Gamakatsu. I have every brand in my box, I really don't think you can buy a bad hook anymore.
  9. I don't need to go to France to know croissants are food. You'll catch fish on it, you got this.
  10. Great tip, Tom. From now on I'm tying a new knot before every trip.
  11. Very true, pouring worms isnt necessarily the best way to get baits in bulk. I'm in a little better situation, as I already have everything but an injector and that mold. I also have tons of worms-like everyone else-that I just won't use. That's where I get 90% of my colors from. I like turning a $1 flea market bag of Culprits into a bag of drop shot worms that would run me $5-6 at BPS.
  12. https://www.del-mart.com/shop/product.php?productid=16789&cat=340&page=1 There's a guy on EBay who makes these. As tempting as they are, I'm putting my money toward the mold.
  13. Id bring a second lock for the way home. I lived in Ecuador for a year, and would be shocked if they didn't open everything,
  14. Those were some tough reels in their day. I had buddies who swore by them, and while they aren't a new Tatula or whatever is the soup of the day around here, they're still a nice reel. You'll certainly miss the thumb bar and instant anti-reverse, but you'll get used to it.
  15. LSU doesn't have the depth in their roster to slug it out with Bama. I don't know if LSU is really that overrated, I don't think too many teams can exploit LSU quite the way Alabama did. I'm not saying LSU should have ever been top 5, because eventually they will need good QB play in order to win big games. At least TCU lost so we don't have to listen to their crying anymore.
  16. Just wind it from one reel to another when you want to switch it out. It puts the old braid on the inside of the spool and the braid that's still good gets used.
  17. It broke my heart, too. My Buckeyes needed UT to lose. That 98 team was loaded.
  18. Had Clint Stoerner not fumbled against Tennessee in 98, my Bucks may have won the NC. That's the year Saban and Michigan St ruined their chances.
  19. I'm a huge Buckeye fan, but I watch and follow all of college football. This was almost as sweet as Matt Jones/Eli Manning in OT way back when.
  20. Agree about casting distance not being a huge consideration. I've outcast my ability to set the hook properly more times than I'm willing to admit.
  21. I have had braid not "bite" into the spool before. Mono backing fixed that issue, and I used a half as much braid.

Born and raised in Ohio, go Bucks! Really looking forward to seeing Bama vs LSU this weekend.
  23. I haven't enjoyed a weigh in since Fish Fishburne anyway!
