Bps Reels
I have three of the old Johnny Morris reels, I believe the first two generations they put out. Yes, they are heavy b today's standards, but I've put a ton of miles on all three without an issue. Slightly off topic, where would I go to look into bearing replacement? I'm mechanically inclined, but would like to learn more before I dig into a reel that works. Thanks in advance.

That's some fine eating, sir! Nice job.

Top Shelf, Newest Thang, Bargain, Last Years Model Fishing Rods?
In the last year, I have bought (using Cabelas points) two Abu Silver Max reels and a Fenwick HMX-all under 100. They are nice pieces of eqipment, but time will tell if they last as long as my 15 year old Johnny Morris and All Star rods. Like roadwarrior, I try to add a nice outfit every year or so. The Silver Max reels are the cheapest I've ever bought, but i knew what I was getting into. The only time I care about what other people are using is when their stuff breaks in my boat and it inconveniences me. If I'm going with a guy who I know has suspect equipment, I usually pack an extra rod/reel from my "2nd string." not everyone I fish with is equipped to throw football jigs in 30 feet of water.

Things You Shouldn't Say To Your Significant Other
"Who would be dumb enough to throw a Halloween party when the Buckeyes play a night game this week? I'm dressing up like a ghost, as in nobody will see me." We have been over this before, there are 15 or so days in the year I will not be going to any functions, it's even written that my own funeral will not be held during an OSU game.

Things You Shouldn't Say To Your Significant Other
More often than not it's college football, so she knows I'm not done...there's the noon game, the 3:30, the SEC game @ 7, the big national game at 8, and if I'm not asleep the Pac 10 game at 10.

Things You Shouldn't Say To Your Significant Other
I've found that pausing the tv and staring at her with an annoyed look on my face as I wait for a story to end isn't well received.

What kind of tractors? I collect and restore Simplicity/Allis.

What Is Everyone's Day Job??
https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/repay-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/teacher I taught for 15 years, PM me if you have any questions. If you're serious about getting a job, how you position yourself is everything. What is your degree in? You may be able to pass the teacher exam with a bachelors in your field and get moving right away.

Febwick Silverhawk
You'll be glad you bought the longer rod for those applications. You can't go wrong with a Fenwick, either. I lov all three of mine.

What Is Everyone's Day Job??
I'm a Financial Adviser-I help people invest for their retirement (or other life goals), plan for their future, and protect their assets...and do so in the most tax efficient ways. I do have a college degree, and it isn't in my field. I fish twice a week from April-September, my truck and trailer stay at the office, and I drive my car everywhere else.

1000 Size Reels For Bass
These guys are all correct-you'll be fine. Just make sure to get a really nice reel if you're going that small. I have caught a few 3-4 pound smallies while fishing for yellow perch with 4lb test line-thankfully the drag held. Really make sure that your knots are regularly retied and you check for nicks in your line. I regularly fish 6lb fluoro on my dropshot rod and have never had a line related issue.

Favorite Chunk Trailers For Under $3
The plastic chunk (shape of Uncle Josh pork frog) mold is $10, melt down a bunch of worms you don't like in a Pyrex and have at it. It's the easiest pour out there.

Favorite Chunk Trailers For Under $3
A jar of pork frogs can last you a long time, too. I prefer them in cold water.

Late Fall Largemouth Tactics?
I throw big jigs in the grass and the dying pads. I like pork trailers more this time of year for two reasons: 1. I read it in a Bassmaster, it must be true 2. (the real reason) I don't have to change it all day and it's cold outside

Anyone Trade Up Boats Every Few Years?
I'll argue that a lot of the deep pocket crowd gets that way by not buying new stuff every two years. They buy the right car/boat and hang on to it for a long time. As far as cars go, I agree with you. It's impressive that cars last as long as they do with the general public knowing essentially nothing about maintanence.

Rod And Reel Collection And Selection.. Please Comment!
That Bass Pro Extreme would probably be a good frog rod. I agree that a lighter pitching rod may be a good move, why not the Rage for that?

Spinning Reels
I like the Daiwa Regal, it's a lot of reel for around $40.
-
Spinning Reels
Yes, I do. I label it with a Sharpie, "6F" is 6 lb Fluoro, "6" is just 6lb mono. It's also why I have 3 of the same spinning reels, so I can have 3 spare spools ready to go. I'm not losing a trip due to line twist.

Is Spending 250 Dollar Worth Of Lures To Much
250 is a nice chunk of change to get started. I'd start closer to 150, then use the extra 100 to replace/expand on what you liked. The last thing to do is waste money when you don't really know what you want just yet. These guys have the bait part covered, so I'll skip it. Don't get sucked into an expensive tackle box-Plano 3700s and old backpacks is a way cheaper option. When you have a system figured out for carrying your stuff, then you may know what kind of box to get.

Small Boat Registration...what A Scam...
Other way around up here. My trailers are 12-30 dollars, the boat is more like 60.

Small Boat Registration...what A Scam...
Of course they are....however, it's pretty well documented how dire the F&G dept is at the moment. I'm just really tired of "you gotta pay to play" applying to boats with motors, snowmobiles-but not kayaks or hiking boots. A voluntary donation along with a sticker would make a big difference-and it's a demographic that tends to have disposable income anyway.

Can A Bait Scent Have An Opposite Effect?
Just imagine how bad you'd kick their butts if they didn't use smelly jelly.

Tailer Registration
One in truck, a copy in my main tackle bag, and most importantly a clear picture of all important documents on my phone.

Bass Pro Shops Vs. Walmart
I agree completely. I would argue that the mom and pop stores in 2015 are all online anyway. Overhead is low, and they can be competitive and still offer a good selection.

Winter Fishing, Store The Boat Or Brave The Cold
I fish until Ice, then store my boat and grab my auger. It's totally worth it.
