  1. I'm confused at this point, DVT yes up and down would be correct. I guess it can't be the one way bearing as my handle has no play. As in when I'm reeling and go to go the opposite direction with the handle it stops dead no play. So when I open it up and take the spool out I can take my index finger and put it on the pinion gear and move it slightly left and right which is what is causing the up and down play in my spool. So what's wrong with it guys? Why the movement in the pinion gear and how do I fix it? Thanks in advance guys.
  2. It's pretty simple, the spool has play in it, not left and right like the tension knob is loose but up and down. I have to get on YouTube but I'm pretty sure the one way bearing is what the pinion gear sits in, if so then it's shot. And as I'm typing this I just remembered that before I knew better I oiled that pinion gear area and oil will make that one way bearing slip. So my question is, do they make a tool to pull that bearing out of the side plate safely?
  3. I have the 822S NRX but obviously u can't compare that to the casting rods, which I have held without a reel on them. I also palm the reel when fishing and just wouldn't think your fingers wrapped around just a blank for 8 to 10 hrs could be very comfortable. Hope I'm wrong cuz I'm gonna be buying some regardless.
  4. Yea no side to side as if the tension knob is loose. I know what that is.
  5. It's up and down, my drag works fine? With the reel assembled and the spool engaged to reel should I have any up and down movement in the spool?
  6. I have a Shimano Calais 201A and I have play in the spool, with my thumb on it I can move it forward and back. Open the side plate take the spool out and I can put my index finger on the pinion gear and move it left and right. The pinion gear sits in the one way bearing correct? Is that what's wrong? I don't think it's the pinion and drive gear mesh right?
  7. 6'8" MH-XF Loomis GLX spinning, 3000 series Stradic CI4 with 20lb. Braid and fluro leader. Hooks- Gammy wicked wacky and wacky head finesse.
  8. I love and appreciate all high end rods and have a pretty good selection of loomis rods and love all of them. I haven't handled an E6X but I'm sure they are very nice for 200 bucks. I'm also a Megabass fan and have held the Levante and was floored that it was a 200 dollar rod, would definitely check them out before making a purchase.
  9. I also need a rod for small poppers, not apposed to a spinning rod. If I go casting and fish lakes in Tx I may go MH but think I want a M or MF action. Suprised more guys don't fish M MF actions for topwater treble baits.
  10. The Yo-Zuri, Silver Thread and Mean Green do they sink or float. I have never fished a co-poly, I currently fish expensive fluros. Guess the only benefit would be stretch for treble baits over fluros correct? Right now for those baits I'm throwing the Sunline Reaction, can anyone think of why I should maybe try a co-poly over it? If it floats I will try it as a leader to braid for topwater instead of the Sunline Reaction leader on braid. Thanks guys.
  11. Shimano Aldebaran 51HG 7.4:1 $271.00
  12. I didn't know that you could buy NRX blanks? I would love to have some customs made on that blank. Who builds your rods and do you know if the general public can buy NRX blanks?
  13. Speaking of higher grade pistol grip rods I have my first one my grandmother bought for me in the 80's it's a beautiful custom 5'6" graphite rod with a fugi removable grip and top of the line components. And also have the shimano bantam 251SG mag plus still in the box. That reels was 75 bucks back then. Also have the last pistol grip rod I bought in like 92, gloomis 5'6" IM6 with cork handle and it's like brand new. Would post pics but it's a pita. I read that shimano is coming out with a bantam reel this yr?
  14. Just wondering if you guys that own NRX baitcasters could tell me if the reel seats are very comfortable being how minimalistic they are, especially if you palm reels?
  15. Just started fishin them, right now the Revenge Viberator which I like and the SK Poison which I dont. Next will be the Phenix, Z Man Project, Picasso and Bluebasser.
  16. Well looks like I'm gonna remove the split rings and go with a high quality snap as it will allow me to change baits faster to find what the fish want. I also won't neglect re-tying my line to my snap like some guys worry about.
  17. Are the xcalibur one knockers really that good? I have some but don't fish em much. I was picking up on Fork a cpl wks ago on the new Booyah one knocker.
  18. Yes my buddy got the latest Curado so it had to be the 200. I haven't bought a baitcaster since like 2005 a Calais and when I seen the sz of that Curado I was blown away by how small it was.
  19. So the Metanium is smaller than the Curado and Chronarch? Wow that's hard to imagine.
  20. I was wrong the water was much cooler, forgot a thermometer but it felt like it was in the 40s it was cold. Don't know how many acres it is, maybe 100yds wide by 200yds long deepest area being 25ft
  21. I feel as though I'm pretty well rounded and will throw what they want, we fished this past Thursday and they really had lock jaw. Nothing on worms or Carolina rigs, also threw soft swimbaits, mid depth cranks and squarebills and nothing. I forgot a thermometer but the water felt cold as hell like in the 40s but I could be wrong. Only 3 fish were caught in shallow water on spinnerbaits.
  22. This is exactly what I was going to write, you have got to give this a try. Your gonna want at least a 7' H or XH FAST Action rod and I would probably fish straight braid.
  23. I moved to Tx recently and need new bass tackle my buddy just bought a new Curado and I can't believe how small it is. I'm want to buy some Metaniums and want to know if they are as small as the Curados? Also what about the Chronarch's are they the same sz also? Thanks
