  1. Found this lure at a local tackle store, thought it was an old Clark's Water Scout, but it does not have the fin on the bottom and the hardware is not correct. Bait is plastic with seam down the middle long ways. No I.D. on the lure. Thought maybe someone else had one and could tell me what it is.
  2. Really nice fish!!! Tell me about them peaches....
  3. A couple of other differences that have not been mentioned is the sealed drag on the LE, it also has an aluminum pinion gear and main shaft that reduce the weight by a little over 1/2 oz. Braid ready spool, and carbon fiber handle as well as a little higher IPT. The one I own has been very smooth and enjoyable to fish. I like the cosmetics, and the handle and drag are enough to earn the extra 20 dollars from me.
  4. I use a fingerprint light coating of cal's drag grease,
  5. Clutch cam, clutch plate, and clutch cam retainer. These parts can have enough surface friction to prevent the reel from completely engaging when the anti reverse ratchet strikes the clutch paw. Also make sure your yoke springs are not compressed.
  6. Exactly what I was thinking.
  7. When you reassembled your reel did you put the clutch area back together completely dry?
  8. While I have not fished one, the Diawa Tatula rods look to be a good deal in the 100 dollar rod market. The Powell series rods have gone down in price and also look to be nice rods in your price range. If you want to spend it all on a rod I would look at the St. Croix Avid series.
  9. Did you take the anti-reverse bearing out of the side plate when you were servicing your reel?
  10. Nothing more exciting than a good topwater bite. I typically start every fishing trip trying one type of top water or another. There are many good topwater baits that are easy to learn the basics of. Some of the baits that I have used that are both easy to walk and catch are, the Heddon Superspook Jr, Lucky Craft Sammy, (lots of good copies of this bait) Cavitron buzzbaits, they get on top the water quick and allow you to move your bait slower than most. and lastly I prefer the Jackall Iobee frog, it is one of the easiest frogs to walk and requires no modifications out of the package. These are my personal choices, they may not be right for you, but they will certainly get you started in the right direction.
  11. Nice fish, would have liked to run into a few of those. I will have a much better plan for the next time I fish there. Thanks for all the help.
  12. Thanks for the advice, we will give it another shot once the water cools a little. Think we are going to try McPherson SFL next week, have been hearing some good things happening there. Also been a good white bass and hybrid bite at Cheney.
  13. I worked the docks hard in the morning using a black and blue jig with a plastic trailer but just could not get enough bites to figure much out, I fished them a little more after the sun come up and could not get bit at all. Tried lots of different plastics and jigs of different sizes and trailers, (all plastic) with not much success. The lake fished tough for us all, best pattern we could develop was fishing off the dam in about 18-20 ft of water and casting to the dam with senkos. No big fish but several 1-2lb smallmouth.
  14. Wanted to leave a quick and dirty about a trip 4 of us made to Wabaunsee on Friday 7/29. We arrived at the ramp at 6:00 and waited for quite a while before someone showed up to open up. We missed a lot of the morning bite that we had hoped to fish because it took about an hour to get both boats on the water, the Lady running things seemed to be very confused about what she was doing most of the time. Any way on to the fishing. We fished most areas of the lake throughout the day looking for quality fish but had no luck. Used a lot different techniques to try an entice the fish, but realized at some point that dark colored senkos were going to catch the most fish. We caught several largemouth and smallmouth bass between 1 and 2 pounds and many large bluegill. The trip was not without its fun but certainly not what we had hoped for. Planning another trip for this fall.
  15. All of my crankbaits are fished on Revo Winches. I tend to stick to the 2nd Gen reels but do own a 3rd gen winch and it has not let me down.
  16. IMO, a lower IPT reels makes it more comfortable to fish a chatterbait. The lower IPT reels allow you to crank at your normal or just slightly slower than normal pace. Chatterbait often catch many fish when fished just fast enough to get the wobble out of them, it also helps them to stay down in the water column. You can fish a chatterbait on any reel that you own, it's just going to be more of an adjustment the higher the IPT of the reel.
  17. Confidence in fishing for me is knowing that I have taken care of the things I can control. Sharp hooks, quality line, perfect knots, ensuring my rods and reels are in top shape. Knowing that I have asked questions and studied enough that I can read the conditions, wind, water, cover, structure, seasonal pattern and develop a plan that I will have success with.
  18. Roboworm see's most of the work from me, I do have many others that I will use on ocassion. I catch many fish on the thin Zmann worm as well.
  19. Watch a couple of Aaron Martens video's on dropshot fishing. He is the master.
  20. Keep the hooks sharp, braided line and a stout rod. The rest is technique, maybe try another frog and see if it helps.
  21. Thank you, that helps a ton. Been a few years since I was there and it was so windy that we only got to fish a very limited area. I'll leave a report of how we do.
  22. She still hosing everything down with bleach? /
  23. Have a trip planned for Wabaunsee later this week, anyone been there lately. Any help with getting started there would be appreciated.
