  1. Well an email to Daiwa was useless.. unable to attest to the JDM specs.
  2. Hey, just looking for some clarification on the differences between the USDM Tatula SV and it's JDM counterpart. I am aware that the JDM variant has an 80mm handle with I-style knobs, a gold T-Wing (same material?), a non-Zaion plastic drag star, a bit less drag and one less bearing. I don't know which bearing Daiwa chose to omit but I'm very curious. I also read that the JDM SV has higher quality bearings, but that is not confirmed. Can anyone shed some light on this? Are more people opting for the US version?
  3. I was kind of thinking the same thing. In clear water, low vegetation situations I could option for the flouro and lighter KLX, and oppositely I could use the more stout M/F ##.
  4. I hear ya. Unfortunately, I don't get to experience some of the smallmouth fishing that you're spoiled with. I've never missed a big one with a M/F and 10lb InvizX so one would think that 40lb SX1 and a FC leader would be even more capable, no? Ahhhh!
  5. 1/2oz would be the total weight with jig, skirt and trailer. I just don't know what to do with that 6'10" Medium now, I got a crazy deal on a KLX & two Tatula's, and now I'm all over the place.
  6. Okay so I went and purchased a few rods and reels that make a few redundancies in my rod/reel selections. I'm not looking for an answer per sé but would like some advice as to what duties I can assign to reassure myself that my gear won't be collecting dust in the garage. Just as a preface, I like to fish on the light side. Here in PA we don't often see 6lb+ fish glued to the bottom of mats and vegetation, so I try to outfit my arsenal accordingly. 7' KLX M/MF, Lews MB with 10lb mono - Cranks and sub-100 jerkbaits 7' KLX MH/MF, Lews MB with 10 mono - Deep cranks, large jerks 7' KLX M/F, Tatula SV (8.1) with 10lb InvizX- Weightless, small jigs & shakey's ## 7'3" MH, Curado 70HG with 50lb FX2 - Frogs and Ploppers Now I don't know what to do with this rod.. ## 6'10" M/F, Tatula SV (7.3) unspooled I am thinking of going with 40lb braid and a flouro leader for ~1/2+ oz jigs and trailers, spinner/chatter baits and buzzbaits. Thoughts?
  7. Totally agree. InvizX is one of the more manageable Fluoro's but at 15lb test it will be an absolute mess.
  8. I'm in PA, also not exactly a big bass Mecca. If you figure on using it for plastics and jigs I would go with a nice Flouro, I use 10 or 12lb Invizx. If you plan on using it for moving/treble applications I would go with a decent mono, I choose 10lb Transoptic. If you're deadset on braid I like SX2 for bottom contact and FX2 for topwater, and I use 50lb because of their relatively small diameters.
  9. Looks like a Doyo product? The quality of the bearing and internal materials might be sub par, but those grips YUCK.
  10. I've been eyeing the Tatula SV hard but I'm not convinced by their SV claims. Both the CT and SV use 7075 Aluminum spools while their higher end Daiwa's use the G1 Duraluminum. Not to mention it's not exactly a true free floating spool like the Zillions and Steez. Is the inductor material different? I just purchased another KLX MF for weightless plastics and the Tatula SV seems like a very competent reel for this outfit but I'm just unsure of what I'm actually getting beyond the standard CT. I've used mag/centrifugal Lews reel these last few years and can't decide if the move to the Tatula SV would be an upgrade or a sideways move.
  11. I have the okuma bag and beat the hell out of it. Great bag, it's held up well and it's got plenty of storage.
  12. Caught a great one on a private pond today, came on a Chartreuse/Black back 1.5.
  13. Never thrown a crankbait! Aw man, you're in for a good time.
  14. Try smaller crawfish plastics.. Keitech Crazy Flapper and Baby Rage Craws. Slowly bump them and let them stand up for a few seconds. I rig them on a 1/8oz ultrahead and my go to colors are Pumpkin Chartreuse and Watermelon meat. In the winter when the bite is super tough I'll rig them on a mini chatterbait without the skirt to create some vibration in the water. Trust me
  15. The freaking bat won best hard bait this year. Don't put too much stock into these awards. It's like the preseason rankings in college sports.
  16. I am sorry.. but this bait concept is just flat out dumb.
  17. I go as light as possible given the conditions. I put a lot of stock into rate of fall. Most of my jigs are 1/8 to 3/8. I've had good luck with the rugby jig lately.
  18. I guess you must've missed that Oscar winning movie. Stay out of the heat.
  19. 28, what's it to you.. is your brain wired okay?
  20. The term "dream big" is an expression and to be fair it was used in a tongue in cheek manner. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFb7PFc89
  21. God have mercy on your soul.
  22. Hypothetically.. if you walked into your local gun shop and the owner said you can have any gun in the case, you would walk out with an M&P? My EDCs get beat up and I love em, but I'm not loyal enough to choose them over a pistol that I might never get to hold let alone own.
