I would try the Gama round bends too. They should be a lighter hook and the triple grips are EWG, not always the most popular with jerkbaits.

I fish a lot of stained water in PA and counter-intuitive to what they were design for I love to bump chatterbaits. I use the 1/4oz mini with the eyes, and I just deadstick short hops with a random strong vibrating pull and it's worked really really well for me. I was catching fish on half frozen lakes in January and February exclusively with the mini zman and a Keitech crazy flapper on the back.

If you can get them to suspend to your liking the RC STX is hard to beat. The Bakers were nice but the price jumped last year.

Honestly, I think the 705CB is probably a pretty good rod but I use a 7' KLX M/MF for smaller jerks and a MH/MF for deep divers and bigger jerks. I always use Mod Fast for treble hook presentations. I wouldn't spend the money if you didn't have to, but that's completely up to you.

10lb braid might dig in on a baitcaster. I usually go with at least 50lb. If you want a smaller diameter you could always go with FX2.. incredible strength for its thin appearance.
